“Peaceful oasis in the Old Town”
Reviewed 27 May 2012

After a significant wander around the Old Town of Málaga we stumbled upon "Il Laboratorio". The perfect spot to enjoy a nice cold glass of "La Chouffe" under a big old shade tree. Attentive staff and frosty mugs. Need I say more?

“Very original!”
Reviewed 13 August 2011

We discovered the restaurant Il Laboratorio few weeks ago and we just loved it.
It's the perfect place to enjoy nice tapas. We went there every days for the breakfast (the best in Malaga) and came back for dinner.
The restaurant has a perfect terrace to enjoy the center of Malaga.
The food is perfect, lovely place... Highly recommended!!!

“The perfect place to eat tapas and enjoy a nice terrace in the center of Malaga”
Reviewed 29 June 2011

We felt in love with the Laboratorio.
We went there several times: for the breakfast and to enjoy their nice food.
The terrace is the best of the center of Malaga!
We also loved their homemade Sangria!!!

“good food & wine at a reasonable price.”
Reviewed 18 May 2011

This was an excellent find about 500 metres away from Plaza Merced.(which is a building site at present.)Outside under the trees was excellent for shade for lunch or evening drinks or meal. The portions are large and you can share dishes if you wish...The wines were excellent including the house white rioja. We found the staff very helpful on our visits.

“Rude waitress, mediocre food, go elsewhere for better food & service”
Reviewed 31 January 2011

We were met by a rude waitress (woman with long black wavy hair) who demanded to know what we wanted to drink the first moment we sat down. Not having been to this restaurant before and not speaking much spanish, I asked what they had and she said 'we have EVERYTHING' in a patronising way, and then proceeded to chatise us for not knowing spanish and saying "I suppose I better give you the English menu then'. Then she critisized us for ordering only 1 bottle of mineral water to share between 2 people.
We ordered two pasta main courses, one with mushroom and fried Iberico ham, which was quite greasy and sickly, the other with peppers and red sauce. The sauce tasted like it came out of a bottle and there were no peppers to be seen. The parpadelli was so tough like it hadn't been cooked enough. Not worth the money, I can cook better pasta at home.
Only redeeming factor was the nice blond waitress who served us later on. Thank goodness we didn't have to deal with the other rude waitress who seem to have left her manners at home. Our 'poor' review of the service is solely for the rude, dark-haired waitress, who ruined our dining experience from the first moment we sat down.
