“It was simply ideal for us during our holiday in Málaga”

The hostel is closed to the beach and to bustops to go in the city center. The building itself with it's lovely green inner yard has it's special atmosphere. The breakfasts are wonderfull and I advise you to have dinner here min. once during your stay. The hosts are charming and they can provide you with a lot of interesting and useful pcs. of information about the city. We had some questions about the hostel and booking before our arrival and they answered us rapidly and nicely.

First of all : we noticed that all references of Las Acacias are displayed : those of the former owners, as well of those of the actual, who run this beautiful place now for 1,5 years. We mention this to let futur guests know that, concerning the owners and the renewings, only the references since 2012 refer to Paqui and Xals. We stayed here from Christmas eve till Sylvester 2013. Paqui and Xals are very warm hearted people who make you feel like at home instantly. They run this place all by themselves, without staff. And they do it with heart and soul, and perfect. We are a couple who intentionaly don't choose for a 5* hotel, but prefer a small and authentic 'home' with personal approach and away from big crowds. And this place scored a 10+ for us! It's situated only 100m from the beach, in a nice and quiet street, with the bus stop only 20m away. Easy and quick connection from the airport, taking the train or bus A, and then bus 3 or 11. Bus 11 brings you to the city centre, and bus 3 goes all the way to the big bus station. We stayed for 7 nights, and Paqui lent us her bus card. After having charged it (in a tobacco shop) for 20 trips, which costs only € 16,5 we could use the bus the whole week. Using the bus card is travelling half price. Between 6am and 11pm the busses pass very frequently : every 10 minutes. During the night there is still bus N1. At our booking we asked for a double room in the back, and we got room 4. The room and bathroom are small but comfortable and clean. Breakfast, served by Xals, is perfect (sandwiches, Spanish tomatoe toast, ham, cheese, chorizo, fresh orange juice, great coffee, fresh fruits, yoghurt), and if you'd like to have (3 courses) dinner, we can recommend Paqui as a good chef :-)
We always wake up very early (about 6am) and we are coffee addicts, but the hosts invited us to use the coffee machine or the orange juice maker whenever we needed. Great bonus, and included in the breakfast!
Paqui's English is good, and communication even better ;-) She will point out the best places to see, or, if you will do day trips through the region, she will provide you with timetables of busses and trains, lots of tips, and even printed map directions. Must sees : trip to the white village of Frigiliana, the historic Ronda, and if you like peace and quietness the (free) birds reserve of Guadalhorce (between Malaga city and the airport).
A picnic (sandwishes) will be waiting for you to take along.
Being smokers, the patio was more than welcome for us.
Leaving early morning to catch our flight, our breakfast and sandwiches were waiting for us again.
Paqui and Xals : You're the best, and it shows that you love doing what you do : 100% hospitality! Thank you for making our week with you unforgettable! Hugs from us both XXX

Room Tip: At booking we asked for a room in the back, which we got (upstairs, room 4) and which was perfect fo...

Las Acacias was a lovely stop for us, and served as the launching pad for our short vacation adventure. We checked in later, and the owner kindly stay waiting for us, and never complained the slightest at our tardy and stunned arrival (we had notified them in advance however, so they were expecting this). We were checked in pleasently, offered instructions on accessing the wifi, and how to find dining nearby in the late evening.
Our room was colourful and comfortable, albeit with a bit of an "off" smell. The walls are admittedly thin, however this didn't cause any trouble for us. Our neighbours came back late, but weren't unruly or bothersome.

Breakfast was a true standout!!! Absolutely lovely. Not to heavy, but with a treat for a wide variety of tastes. Even the juice was perfect...an uncommon thing for me to say! The portions were certainly more than adequate for any typical appetite & coffee/tea were plentiful (coming from someone who sometimes has to double dip on her caffeine fix ;-). It was the best breakfast we had on the whole trip!

The location is perfect, a quiet street just moments from the beach. The area along the beachfront is full of lovely cafes and warm common spaces.

This budget accommodation is clearly not luxury, nor would we have expected it to be, given the price / location ratio.
We felt it represented good value, enjoyed the breakfast immensely, and greatly appreciated the gentle kind nature of our hosts. Would certainly reccommend (& book again!).

Having read Tripadvisor reviews I chose Las Acaciasl for a 4 night stay in Malaga in September. I was disappointed and wish that I had stayed somewhere else. We had specified that we wanted a twin room but were initially given a double with an open plan bathroom - no privacy at all when you wanted to use the toilet! We were moved the next day to a twin but were unimpressed with the room, which was rather shabby and did not have a tv, as stated in the room details. I thought maybe I had made a mistake so did not complain but saw on returning home that yes, there should have been one. We found the couple running the place to be rather cold and unfriendly and we felt a little awkward at breakfast with the owners brusqueness. The outside eating area was dark and unpleasant and the food was ok, though not to our taste. We were not keen on plain yoghurt, tomato bread, ham and cheese for breakfast and would have preferred some toast and eggs. The glass of orange juice and the coffee cups were very small and we would have liked to have been offered a second cup and were not made to feel like we could ask for one. There was a lot of noise outside our window until gone 1am and other guests were up and about early so we were very sleep deprived. Also, my partner found his bed in the 'orange' room very uncomfortable and could feel the springs digging into him. We had looked forward to staying in a lovely old characterful house with a friendly couple but did not enjoy our stay here at all. Luckily the area of Malaga and Andalucia was gorgeous enough to make it a wonderful holiday anyway.

Room Tip: The separate 'red' room in the garden has the toilet actually in the room so avoid if you li...

We stayed here for 6 nights and found it perfectly adequate - it was very clean and had all we required. It was in a charming house with lovely hosts, who provided us with a wonderful breakfast every morning, and left some out for us on our last morning, when we had to leave early.
The only unfortunate aspect were the neighbours, who could be very noisy until very late at night, but this is partly a cultural thing, I think, as the Spanish way of life is somewhat different from our British one!
We would stay here again.

We only stayed one night at Las Acacias before taking our plane back home. The hotel is located in the beach area of Malaga (beach just at the end of the street with loads of bars and restaurants) and you can walk to the city centre (45 minutes) or take the bus (very frequent buses - you're in the city centre in about 10 minutes). The bedroom was simple but nicely decorated and clean (a bit noisy in the morning with the traffic though - ask for a room which doesn't give on the street). The owners are very friendly. The breakfast, which is included in the rate, was really nice. Easy to park in the streets around. Very good option - great value.
