We stayed the week of Sept. 8th through the 15th and loved every second. The location was perfect as it is situated right on the boardwalk overlooking the Mediterranian Sea. The rooms were a bit small but had nice balconies overlooking the pool and beachfront. Dozens of shops and restaurants were within walking distance of the boardwalk that are priced very reasonably. Just a short cab ride to Old Town Marbella and Puerta banos which offer the best of new and old Marbella are a must see. The hotel grounds are beautiully manicured and pool area is very nice but drink service was a little slow. Over all, I would highly reccommed this hotel if you plan to go to Marbella.

Unfortunately, the second time at this hotel, the first being a few years ago, was less than agreeable!

For a start the beds were hard as rock..everyone in our party of six said the same, they must have changed them to orthopedic..

There was at times sewage smells coming from the bathroom plumbing..

A lot of the room furniture was in need of repair or replacement and there was bad
tiling areas which had mold in the bathroom area..I could go on..but I think you can
get the gist of it!!

On the plus side, the maids did there best to keep things clean & changed the beds twice a day! and they now have complementary Clarins cosmetics...

On balance..the hotel seems to have turned from Shabby chic to just shabby!

Would only give this 3 stars, four at a push...

Room Tip: Not sure..different hotel...lol

After returning for the second time to this hotel, we booked the Red Level Service, which guarantees a high level room with a fantastic view of the beachfront, and also an open bar service, which we took advantage of. Cappachino bar has been added to the beach front area where you can sit and have an amazing cocktail.
This Hotel has changed for the better since our first visit, in our opinion, definitely now living up to a 5 star. A big thank you to Marie and Louis who made our stay unforgetable, nothing was too much trouble. We will be returning next year.

Room Tip: Book Red Level, definatley worth the extra.

We were looking for a 5* Spa Hotel on the Costa del Sol for a long weekend. After finding this, and having stayed in quite a few Melia's we settled on the Don Pepe.
The hotel is very nice though not a 5* really. We had a sea view room on the 4th floor overlooking the sea, gardens & pool. The grounds are spacious, room is of a high standard, Clarins toiletries. The pool area is well kept & as you would expect in a high end hotel. The food is excellent both at breakfast and evening meal time at the restaurant next to the pool. I found the evening waiters to be very friendly, efficient & generous when they found out the reason we were staying.

On the negative, the pool area service can be slow, even for the Bali beds and the Spa area needs a makeover. There is a sauna & steamroom that are good but not as good as other Melia's. On the whole, though expensive, I would come back & Melia does have high standards. It is also worth being in their "Mas" benefits scheme.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view on a high level.
