These are the words the serviceman at the pool said to me when I tried to remove my sunscreen a little and those words give the best impression of the atmosphere in Gran Melia don Pepe. We stayed here for 10 days in april and loved the "service from the heart". As I am in a wheelchair we were given a choice between two rooms and could decide ourselves which one was the best for us. All possible assistance was given and always with a smile. The distance to Old-Marbella was no problem at all as there are always taxi's available that bring you wherever you want for just a few euro's. During our stay the pool and the terrace were under construction but that will be finished by now. The garden is beautiful and very spacious so you can enjoy the sun and read your books in a quiet corner or join the crowd at the poolside, just what you like.
Breakfast is good as you might expact in a five-star hotel but even then there is no rushing but just a nice and calm atmosphere. We usually go to Marbella twice a year but don Pepe was by far our best experience so we certainly will be back!

Loved this hotel for everything except the hard bed. Actually had a conversation with a fellow guest with regard to this but foolishly did not report to staff who were amazing in regard to every other whim.

Dear GaryF,

Good afternoon from Gran Meliá Don Pepe!

Thank you very much for your feedback and for your visit to our beautiful hotel. It is a shame that we did not hear from your comment regarding the mattress while you were staying with us. Usually our Housekeeping team, when requested offers a mattress topper which makes the mattress softer.

I am really sorry about this and please if you decide to come back to our hotel, send me an e-mail and we will place a mattress topper on your room upon arrival. Also if you have any other requirement, please feel free to contact me directly.

Gran Melia Don Pepe is by far the most outstanding hotel I have ever been to. The staff across the board have been so incredibly friendly, helpful and accommodating. The whole hotel is so clean, even the view from the mountain view room (528) is breathtaking...normally I have to have a sea view room, but the view of the mountain was spectacular. The rooms were big, clean and spacious, decorated beautifully.

The pool was great, it was just the beginning of April so there were lots of lounge chairs available. They were renovating for summer on one half however the builders were quiet and non-invasive, we literally forgot there was anything going on behind us...we could also tell it would look amazing when done! Whenever we needed someone it was always easy to spot a member of staff to help with anything from clean towels, to bar menus by the poolside.

The breakfast buffet was fabulous, a great range of foods and egg cooked in front of you by again, a great waiter. There was a woman with brown long curly hair tied back in a pony tail who served us at the Moet bar and at the Darcis Chocolatier desk on the day we departed, she was so friendly and had a lovely smile.

Room service was also great, very quick. There was always someone quickly on hand to help whether it was an iron needed or plug adapter. At one point the lights wouldn't come on in our room, we called down to reception, someone popped up sorted a switch and they were back on within seconds.

In the late evening in the reception/main area there was a pianist softly playing for guests as they walked through or sat and relaxed. There were also so many interesting interiors to look at in the hotel, from sculptors to water features and beautiful flowers. As our stay was so short, we ate out a lot and didn't experience the T-Bone grill but I am pretty confident that it has great ambience and food. We will definitely pop along and try this on our next visit.

Me and my friend literally came for a short break, to re-coupe and refresh ourselves as we'd had a hard start to the year, Gran Melia Don Pepe really helped us have a great time and left us happy, relaxed and inspired. We even met wonderful fellow guests. It is rare that a hotel so grand can make guests feel so personally special. We will now be regular visitors to Marbella and Gran Melia Don Pepe and we will no doubt be recommending this location to anyone it may suit.

Room Tip: Don't worry if you cannot go for a sea view room, the mountain view rooms higher up have a spect...

Currently staying at this hotel, a bit disappointed with it. A lot of building work going on, i.e the pool bar is out of use, one of the pools is not in use as they are tiling the floor, the indoor pool hasn't been cleaned in the last week. They currently have the painters decorating the main entrance.
There have been two conferences taking place this week in the evenings and the staff give there full attention to these and the paying guests are ignored.
I agree with the comments about breakfast , very nice but basic, not 5*. Yes the staff are very good and polite and rooms are clean but what is it with women and there shoes on the tiled floors keeping everybody awake, ladies please remove the shoe and use the slippers they supply. Prices are expensive 15 euros for JD and coke!!
The sea views are great but that's what you are paying for. Couldn't get a sun bed as everybody leaves their towel on them and disappear.
The T Bone restaurant has very nice food. They have just opened a new restaurant, which is nice but again expensive for what it is.
Would I stay again,? No I think you can get better for the price.

Me and my wife stayed for a week in March this year. The hotel was fantastic, great sea view, clean rooms, excellent service far beyond any other hotel we have stayed at. We booked a red level supreme sea view room. The red level is amazing value for money and the selection of drinks and snacks available was unbelievable. The spa is a great place to relax and unwind and the t-bone restaurant has the best steaks and the atmosphere is warm and relaxing.

Overall 10/10

We have already booked to go back in April this year!

This is a top quality hotel. The rooms are excellent, the staff are very attentive and the food is quite good. The breakfast is buffet style and is good. The main dining room is the T Bone. This is good value even though it seems from the outside a very up-market expensive place. There are a few niggly complaints which management should correct. There is no business area with PCs and printers even though in the room brochure claimed there was. It shouldn't be too difficult to arrange a quiet corner to accommodate computer users. Another annoying habit is the staff put their hand on their heart when they speak to you. I do not know what corporate boardroom this un-European salute came from but it is quite ridiculous. Minor items apart this is a good hotel in an ideal situation and having stayed there three times already I intend to go back.

Dear Carrigaholt,

Greetings fromGran Melia Don Pepe! Thank you very much for your feedback. Definitely you are completely right. We had a business center but we considered that it was not the appropiate location. Therefone we are currently working on finding a new and more convenient place for our business center. We have already some alternative locations. No later than this week it will be decided and right after the decision has been made, then we will set it up according to our standards.Meanwhile, we are offering our guests either a Laptop or one temporarily office with a computer and a printer as well as our assistance.

Regarding our warm greeting, it is part of our culture and appreciation to our guests for choosing us and stay with us. It has no other cultural or political meaning rather than appreciation and courtesy.

We have a few proyects in order to increase satisfaction like for example our new Japanese and oriental food restaurant " Tahini" which will be opened next month and also our already exisiting new Red Level lounge witn an amazing views and a pleasant terrace.

We hope to welcome you back again at your home in Marbella.

Located on the edge of Marbella town which is great for peace and quiet but not too far to walk to lively areas. The view over the gardens and out to sea are stunning. Only a couple of gripes stopped me giving a 5 star. On the first day a cleaner decided to clean outside our room in the early hours. The second morning a guest above left at 4am after an hour of racket. The breakfast was reasonable but the cooked section was basic, especially with an absent chef on most mornings. I did read a review about a random family in the bar area. I believe I had the misfortune of their company. The lad ran riot and treated us to a drum solo with the cutlery etc. Your bar staff should stop this even if they know these inconsiderate people. The staff are very attentive and helpful and yes we love you too. Will stay again.
