“Great Breakfast”
Reviewed 28 April 2010

After difficulty finding the place (they don't have a numbered street address, therefore my GPS could not find them), we arrived to find our room incredibly hot (we had a west facing room, across from the Mosque). After fiddling with the thermostat control to no avail, I called down to the front desk. The front desk said that the AC was not yet turned on for the season, and that usually doesn't happen until June. I was quite surprised, considering we were there at the end of April, and it was 75F (24C). They said they could show me another room, which was north facing (away from traffic and facing the hills). This room was much cooler, and we were able to keep the balcony door open all the time, cooling off the room even more. Once that little hiccup was over, the hotel proved to be excellent. The rooms are spacious, with a plethora of free toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothbrush/toothpaste, comb, brush, razor/shave gel, nail file, feminine products, shower cap and shoe shine!) which are restocked every day (even the free toothbrushes and hairbrushes and razors). The rooms are cleaned every day with fresh towels and linens. The breakfast was included, and incredible. Plenty of food: cold cereals, cheeses, cold cuts, hot bacon/sausage, scrambled eggs (and a chef will make eggs to order - omelettes, etc). Bonus= breakfast is served until 12pm. The hotel is a 10 minute walk to the beach. It is situated half way between Puerto Banu and Old Town Marbella. We had a rental car, so I can't speak to taxi prices. I would definitely stay there again.

We found the NH Alanda in Marbella a very smart, comfortable hotel. We had a standard room but it was very large and had a large bathroom and a great view of the mountains. Breakfast was served until 12pm which was great for a lie in and the pool area was clean and very quiet (no piped music). We used the gym which was well equipped and the spa for no extra cost. We did find the hotel was winding down a little but that was to be expected for the end of September. This hotel was definitely a 5 star.

Ok it's a 4 star hotel not 5 star like advertised but thats the spanish ratings yet it's still a very nice hotel. The rooms are spotless and cleaned everyday. The pool and the spa are great and the staff are very friendly. It's in the middle of Banus and Marbella old town (order a taxi from reception and it'll arrive within a minute costing 10 euros to either) and a 2 minute walk to the beachfront across the road.

We had a great time at the NH Alanda and wouldn't hesitate going back.

I stayed in this hotel for 4nights with a friend and on arrival was greeted at reception with a warm welcome and offered, free of charge, a glass of champagne or juice. After we checked in, our cases were taken to our room. Our room was in the main building and was beautiful, immaculate and spacious with the most lovely bathroom and sink area. Our room did face out onto a road but it wasnt that busy and the view was nice. Our mini bar was restocked daily, it wasnt the best mini bar i have experienced but it certainly wasnt the worst. We were opposite a mosque and prayer took place about 3times daily and played out over a loud speaker. It only lasted about 5mins each time and wasnt a bother to us.
One evening we ate in the hotels restaurant where you had the choice to eat inside or out on the terrace. The food was quite expensive but you will find this in all restaurants in Marbella and Puerto Banus. Personally i think the food in the restaurant didnt warrant 5* but it was fine. Breakfast is served between 7am-12pm and is lovely. There is a choice of hot food, hams, cheeses, cereals, fruit and pasteries and is all buffet style. Also if you're in a hurry the hotel can make you up a picnic so you can take it with you. Room service is 24hours!
The hotels outdoor pool area is lovely and surrounded by grass. sun loungers and towels are free! The pool is clean and is very quiet, perfect for relaxing. There is also a poolside bar.
The hotel also has its own section of beach. There is a busy road that you have to cross
to access it but it does have a zebra crossing so is no hassle whatsoever! The sunloungers are free if you are not in a standard room, if you are in a standard room they are 10euros but you do get free towels. The beach bar/restaurant is very nice and the food looked devine. The waiters/hotel staff are all perfectly dressed and are on hand whenever you need them.
Me and my friend hired a car and there is plenty off free parking. There is security at the main entrance and patrolling the grounds of the hotel which makes you feel at ease.
Puerto Banus is within easy reach about 10mins away, the hotel are happy to order you a cab, which then arrives within about 30seconds and costs under 10euros to take you there.
Me and my friend booked a late check out room which costs around 10euros extra per hour which i think is great compared to what some of the hotels charge you extra to stay.
Overall i think this hotel is of a very high standard, great value for money and is in easy reach of everything.
I work as a travel agent and would happily recommend this hotel to any of my customers!

I would also recommend that groups of girls/lads visit the Ocean Club, which is a beach club and is fantastic, pricey but worth it. Also visit Khans which is a lovely Indian restaurant situated at the end of the golden mile opposite a cocktail bar that is shaped like a boat!!!!!

Location very good, but next to main road and noisy. The hotel wanted 18 euro, per person, per day, to use the indoor pool.
The breakfast was very good, and served from 0700 - 1200 hrs.
The room was average, for a 4* hotel, and quite small, about 15' X 10'. and looking fairly 'Tired'. The carpet in the corridors, in the main building was very, very stained, the worse I have seen in ANY hotel. The room was too hot, I asked the reception why the Air conditioning was not working, I was told 'It is turned off, during winter months'. I asked for a fan, which never arrived. Had to have the balcony door open all night, overlooking the noisy road.....
There are better hotels in the area than this..

  • Liked — Great breakfast.
  • Disliked — Outrageous charges to use indoor pool.
