“perfect little break”
Reviewed 27 August 2014

Have just returned from a 4 night stay at this hotel and had a perfect chilled break! have been on many all inclusive holidays and can honestly say that this had the nicest food! full marks to the chefs for the great choice available and the delicious omlettes for breakfast. The easy access to litres of water, all drinks, crisps, snacks , beer and soft drinks made this a totally stressfree break. yes it has mainly spanish families but i prefer this and find them very friendly and family orientated. the beach is beautiful and only a 5 mins walk away. there is nothing much to walk to but the bus is cheap and taxis available so if going for more than a week we would have ventured out more. All the staff were very freindly and helpful, rooms were very clean and we had a lovely time- well done diverhotel Marbella! we are already planning a return trip although next time we will be making sure we ask for a balcony!

Room Tip: make sure you request a balcony as being a smoker stuck on the 3rd floor was a bit of a pain early e...

My 10 year old son and I tavelled to The Diver Hotel for a 5 day break. From some of the reviews and the reasonable price we decided to go there.
The hotel is spread over approx 200m area and our 'room upgrade' had us in the dinosaur featured hotel 150m away from the main hotel. The rooms where decent size and very clean. As we went all inclusive it meant that we had to walk the 150m there and back at least 3 times a day which was a nusance.
The pool was located beside the main hotel and it was very clean. However they pool area wasnt very big and it seemed like they had crammed so many sun loungers that people were lying like sardines. You could barely walk around the pool without squeezing past loungers and fearing falling into the pool. The splash pool for young children is situated about 100m away from the main pool and bar area which again is a nusance as you'd have a 200m round trip for a drink top up or snack. Although the splash pool is alot less busy and very clean.
The food was decent and had a good variety. Plenty of choices for starter mains and desserts. The bar was very good. The beer was local but nice. Good variety with other alcohol and non alcohol cocktails and soft drinks for kids.
The beach is easy to get to. Its about 200m to the beach and it is a nice beach.
The location of the Hotel disappointed me. There is little other amenities near the hotel. A souvenier shop, cafe and chinese restraunt are 10mins walk away and thats it. If you want to venture beyond this to the old town for example is over €15 each way as its 8km away.
The entertainment was disappointing. It appeared very off-the-cuff kind of stuff and naration/compare was all Spanish. So the nights could be boring and monotinous.
The kids mini club was poor as kids had to register to take part but the registration form was in Spanish and we struggled to find someone to help us complete it.

In summary, I felt that this hotel catered for mainly for Spanish. Although the food and drink were decent the hotel is out of the way of other things to see and do. For that reason i'd only recommend a stay of 4days to a week and if your getting it for a very reasonable price. In all I wouldnt be likely to go back.

Being an English speaking person I can hand on heart say that the language barrier was not a problem, .....I met some really nice people there .......I guess it's how much effort you put in with the soanish they will do the same in return :) . I went with my 2 children aged 8 + 12 they had a fab time. We stayed 2nd week aug for 5 nights , weather was High 30's . Pool was great , not too deep , slide was fab we all went on it daily . Pool doesn't open till 10am ( has a gate which is good as is first come first get seats ) but think it should open at 9am . After lunch starts at 1.30 the lifeguard will take your towels from seats if your gone more than few mins so you have to find seats again ......this is fair if towels are left for hrs unused but not if you've gone for 10 mins to eat lunch . Luckily we found more seats. The all inclusive was great more than plenty of choice there. Snacks throughout the day also ( one little pet hate for us was they serve their hotdogs cold!!! We eat ours hot lol ) . Drinks readily available all the time . We stayed in main building not the dinosaur building( I don't get the dinosaur connection lol ) ,we didn't have a balcony which would have been nice ( ESP as no where to dry beach towels ) ,,asked to upgrade but was fully booked . Luckily we just got changed and slept in room. Beds were made every day, bins emptied etc , fresh clean towels every day . Beach was 2 mins walk ( we timed it ) down slope to beach up slope back to hotel ( not steep thou) . Fantastic beach! No insects, ants etc everywhere as others had stated ......... Entertainment was mainly aimed at spanish speaking people but kids enjoyed it :) overall I would go back + I would recomend this hotel for families :). A tip if your getting a coach transfer from airport through your travel agent ......we did and what would or should only take approx 35 mins took 2+ half hrs ( I'm not exaggerating ) ......we had 12 drop offs we were no. 11 ......next time I'd def. organise my own transport for quickness . ( from hotel to airport going home took us 1 hr 20 mins ( 7 pick ups) .

Room Tip: Ask for front of hotel with balcony

This hotel is a bit like Ronseal as it does exactly what is says on the tin,

We stayed 3 nights 10th-13th August. when we arrived after being lost for nearly 2 hours as the sat nav wouldn't pick the road up we were checked in and asked if we wanted a late lunch within 5 minutes.

The rooms were a bit quirky as they were in the dinosaur building but nice a clean and good air con, the food was fine no flies or ants as other people have reviewed and it was refreshed all the time by the very efficient staff, the drinks were brilliant as the were mostly self service, beer wine (you have to try the Tinto De Verana) and soft drink pumps all over the complex which was a good touch also fridges everywhere with 1.5 litre bottles of ice cold water in them. The pool area got very crowded with Spanish families but that didn't bother us at all (no Union Jack towels) about 100 yards from the pool was the splash zone with small slides and water sprays everywhere and strangely no people so this was our base for 4 days. It was bliss as no one ventured there until late afternoon. It was very hot there so we wandered along the beach which was a nice little walk approx 200 metres and that was really and breezy.

Other reviews have stated it miles from anywhere and you cant get a bus, untrue as the bus runs every hour and costs 1.27 euro and is at the end of the road. This goes to Marbella one way and Fuengirola the other and there is also a small supermarket a Chinese restaurant and a cash point there too
All in all this is a very respectable hotel mainly catering for Spanish people but there were English and other nationalities there too so please don`t be put off by bad reviews just go and experience it yourself

Don't get me wrong this hotel was clean and the food was good. I travelled in June 2014 with 3 friends. As a group of girls in our twenties we wanted nightlife. However what we got was a hotel on the edge of a carriageway and a 40 euro taxi trip one way to puerto banus. It is close to the beach and there is a shop at the top of the road but nothing else is convenient. Although the hotel did speak a little english it is by far for spanish families on their holidays and this was plain to see as soon as we arrived. It was not the holiday we expected that's for sure. I would advise people looking for nightlife to avoid this place. However I must stress great for spanish families as loads of facilities for kids but unfortunately not done in English.

Room Tip: Difinitely ask for a room with a balcony. As it states on their information that rooms have balconi...

Great for Spanish families, no good for English, customer service not good, terrible language barrier! Didn't get the rooms we requested. No English entertainment. Food average, no indoor pool as advertised, small outdoor pool, good location 3 minute walk to the beach, shop at the top of the road, Definately recommend the Marbella playa just opposite as is 4 star and has beautiful surroundings

After a room change at the start as we were 2 adults And 3 children we were offered 2 separate rooms which was just not acceptable we were moved to a bigger room in the dinasour end which was spacious and clean. Juan Pablo was a bit rude with me but really helpful with my husband.

It is a Spanish hotel but all staff were great, friendly and helpful.

Food is prob the best we have experienced in an all exclusive package - so compliments to their chefs. Food, drinks and beer readily available.

Pool perfect for everyone. My kids loved the Shute and enjoyed the games with entertainment team.

We travelled into Marbella and Puerto banus which was lovely. Be great if the hotel had a mini bus that ran to these places maybe during the day and night?? I'm sure at a small cost people would be happy.

Breakfast extended to 11.00 am would also be good.

Perfect beach location with lots of bargains to be had.

All in all we had a lovely holiday here. Special thanks to Rafael who always went out his way for us :-)
