Description: Chowka Indian Kitchen on the Golden Mile, Marbella reopened on the 6th March 2014 after the winter season with a wider menu including new traditional favourites to add to the modern Indian cuisine for which it has become known. Try beautifully prepared modern and traditional dishes in the gorgeous surroundings. You can have a cocktail or a Lassie at the bar, relax on the terrace, sit under relaxing twinkling lights inside, or even have a large group on one of the butchers tables.

We tried Chowkas 'surf and turf' sharing platter and it was very good. Their chilli squid batter is made from riceflour and just so superior to the standard Calamares served everywhere else. Light and so fresh. Somehow the lime and tiny slithers of chilli just complement the squid so much better than the classic slice of lemon and aioli. You are left wanting more instead of groaning and feeling that the oil is practically seeping out your pores!:) Otherwise Chowka is beautifully decorated both inside and out and lovely service from the young Spanish/arabic and half norwegian waiter! Sorry cannot remember your name but it was fun talking to you!

Honestly, every course was made fresh and everything was so well presented. Fantastic pakora and a very wide range of mains. I had the Jalfrezi myself which was delicious. One of the most impressive things about the meal were the tablet-towels at the end...go yourself to find out ;)

We tried Chowka again after a very disappointing first visit (as we had been told it had changed tremendously), it has! The previous version of the restaurant advertised themselves as Indian cuisine but they took their menu just too far into the whole Eurasian eclectic dining experience, and completely lost their way, it was almost as if the restaurant was the only Indian in the world where you couldn't get a simple curry! ITS CHANGED, and so much for the better that we have been there three times now! It still has those subtle Eurasian differences that stand it apart from the Taj Mahal at home, but this time they are all very welcome twists and additions to a good Indian menu.

It's quite strange because you have two Indian restaurants almost next door to each other, Chowka is definitely the high class, tourist, night out type of place, and a great place place to done with friends and family, it's also a good business place to sit on the terrace too.

Don't be that disappointed if you end up in the other Indian either, it's a few doors down next to Da Bruno Italian restaurant, although the place doesn't have the atmosphere, clientele, wine list, etc , it really is a bog-standard curry house, but the basics Vindaloo, Madras, Tikka, Korma etc are all there, and very well made.
