“Going downhill”
Reviewed 29 May 2014

We have visited this restaurant many times over the last few years and have always enjoyed excellent seafood with friendly service in a fabulous location but just recently it has all gone downhill. It has always been quite expensive but it is in a prime spot in Marbella just off Orange Square but now the service has declined, the waiters just seem disinterested and bored and although the menu is still pretty much the same the food is not: we had a very average meal served lukewarm with dreadful greasy vegetables. The fish was fresh but not pinboned and poorly presented and the meat dishes were rather dry and boring. It was once a great restaurant but it now needs a serious upgrade on all fronts to justify its excellent location and compete with the many other good restaurants in the area.

“Nice ambiance.”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

We called here for lunch having spent some time looking around the beautiful old town area. Ample seating is available, under large parasols. There is a comprehensive A La Carte menu which is fairly pricey and a simpler snack menu, which we chose from. Like most places we encountered, soft drinks are quite expensive. For the minuscule 200 ml. bottles, one could almost say, sickeningly overpriced. It would not be much more expensive, to have a large beer.

That said, the place has a great ambiance and we chose a selection of sandwiches and salads. which came well presented and were very tasty. It is a great place to sit and people watch. We had a thoroughly enjoyable lunch. The waiter was a bit presumptuous by awarding himself a 7 Euro tip, by failing to make any attempt to bring us any change. We would have probably given him 5 Euros but what the hell, we were enjoying ourselves and feeling generous that day, luckily for him.

“Avoid this restaurant!”
Reviewed 20 May 2014

You expect to be somewhat ripped off in such a touristy place as Orange Square. But in many years of eating in Marbella, I've never had such a bad value meal as I did recently in this restaurant, with surly and inattentive staff and bad expensive food. I will be avoiding from now on.

“Nice Restaurant Wonderful Service and Location”
Reviewed 26 November 2013 via mobile

First night in Marbella after a very long travel day. Sat outside by the torches to stay warm. The wait staff was very attentive and happy to seat us as it was out of season and tourists are scarce. We had the fresh fish and we're quite happy with our choice. The ambiance was nice and we enjoyed several hours at our table. In fact we were the last to leave. This is a nice place to eat in Marbella.

“A beautiful al fresco restaurant”
Reviewed 18 October 2013

A beautiful al fresco restaurant on the edge of Orange Square, The Gran Plaza in Marbella is a great restaurant serving authentic Spanish food. They always have great fish choices and if you want to choose your own catch of the day you can. Excellent service too.
