“Very peacefull and posh.”
Reviewed 6 May 2012

Went here v late april early may. Very nice gardens and pool area. All hotel was spotless and food was very very nice. Only bout a ten minute walk from the very posh porto banus marina. It did start to get a bit more lively as we were leaving. Stag, hen partys I think! . Overall would recommend this hotel for couples generally. Not much for kids really apart from small pool and tiny play area.

Dear Guest,

We are very glad because you enjoyed your holidays in our Hotel and I would like to thank you for sharing us your experience.

Regarding your comment about getting a bit more lively, Meliá Marbella Banús is the definitive hotel to see and be seen. Along the Golden Mile and the Leisure Marina of Puerto Banús you can find the most exclusive and sophisticated area as this is the hot spot and meeting point along the Costa del Sol for the rich and famous.

I would like to invite you to visit us on many more occasions and enjoy our facilities.

Kind regards,

Juan Ignacio Broncano

I stayed in this hotel as part of a business trip last week. Very nice hotel, big gardens and pool area and generally very nice.
My problem began when walking home from the port with a collaegue in the early hours of Friday morning only to be attacked by 3 masked men ! This was as we approached the rear entrance of the hotel which you can use until 12am. After sustained some pretty serious cuts to my head and face we managed to get to the front of the hotel to which the night staff where absolutely useless. Offering no help to call or notify the police, only advising to get a taxi to hospital !
Asking to speak to the manager the next day, I found out another guest had also been attacked an hour before, again the hotel night staff didn't notify the local police that street robbers were in the area !
Perhaps I was expecting too much of a 4 star hotel to report these incidents as a duty of care to their other guests !
This may well have been a wrong place, wrong time incident, but I was disgusted with the support that this hotel offered at the time.
Having been to Banus on both business and leisure many times, this is the first time I have encountered or seen any issues.
This hotel is placed 10 mins walk from the port, so taking a stroll into the port during the day or early evening is quite nice, but if you are returning after dark, for the sake of 5 eursos get a taxi !

We stayed in this nice hôtel for ten days and enjoyed it except on Fridays and saturdays. On Fridays garbage is collected by a huge and noisy truck in a parking facing the hotel. It lasts for 20 horrible minutes at 1 a.m. Young people also use this parking for a mini "botellon" late in the night... The problem is there is no noise isolation at all... Not what you would expect from a four star hotel. We were on the third floor facing the sea. I recommend you taking the rooms facing the swimming pools. People working in the hotel could also smile from time to time. The food and the swimming pools were great as was the location just 10 minutes from Puerto Banus.

Room Tip: Facing the swimming pools

I satyed at the Melia Marbella Banus for a week as a girlie getaway with my mum on a half board basis. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted by the hotel staff and taken directly to our room which was lovely and bright and we were delighted to have a sea view. The two queen size beds were extremely comfortable and the bathroom was more than ample for our needs. The rooms were cleaned to a high standard daily and we cannot fault the cleanliness of the hotel at all.

There had been a few dodgy food reviews on tripadvisor before we left so we were both a bit apprehensive regarding what to expect particularly as both of us are coeliac and therefore have to follow a gluten free diet. I had emailed the hotel after booking the holiday and was reassured that this wouldnt be a problem for them. Even when checking in, the fantastic gentleman on reception was able to say that a note of our requirements was on our booking and assured us that there wouldnt be any issues with the food. However, on our first evening meal when we asked the waiting staff what food was 'safe' for us they didnt seem to understand but eventually we got there and were told what was available. The meat grill was amazing - whatever type of meat or fish you fancied was cooked on a huge bbq type grill in front of you and tasted delicious. While the selection of food might have been considered small compared to other hotels we have stayed in, the quality of the salads and everything else was fantastic. On a few occassions the chef came out and asked if we wanted pasta which he had made specially for us - we felt truely spoilt and it was delicious. As for breakfast, on our first morning, the waiting staff came and literally took my mum by the hand and showed her the gluten free bread section which had been prepared for us. We had never had gluten free croissants before and wish we could take the recipe home to try as they were divine! Only thing we did notice was that the scrambled egg was always a bit on the cold side which may have been a result of cold plates, but you could still taste the quality of them!

The only main negative we would say about the hotel was that dinner was served between 8pm - 10pm which we thought was rather late, particularly for those families who were there with young children.

The grounds of the hotel are beautifully maintained and staff everywhere were extremely friendly and helpful. To get wifi in the hotel, you have to ask at reception for a daily code and access is only guaranteed for free in the public areas, however on occasions we managed to log in from our room as well. The hotel is situated on the Marbella edge of Puerto Banus and was only a 5 minute walk down to the main part of the town. On a few days we walked to Marbella and back which was a lovely walk along the side of the sea and only took about an hour and a quarter each way to get there - made the hot chocolates at Plaza de los Naranjas totally guilt free!

We would both recommend the Melia Marbella Banus to those wanting to get away to a quite yet classy hotel with understated elegance, fantastic food and wonderful service from the charming staff. We will defintely return to the hotel if either of us is visiting the Costa del Sol in the future.

there was nothing in the hotel that bothered me. Check in went smooth and we could go up to our (level)room immediatly at ten in the morning. The room was spacious, clean and smelled nice because off some scent-sticks in the bathroom. We were offered fruit and water upon arival. Terrace was south facing wich I liked. Staff was really friendly. They stick to speaking spanish if you can go allong, if you really cant' understand they try their English. I like it that they stick to their rooths.
Level service included use of the levellounge. coffee and water all day, softdrinks and cava in the afternoon and evening. Like being inclusive. It also included wifi throughout the hotel but that was a laugh. The only place you really had acces to the internet was at the bar, and every time you wanted to surf or facetime you had to register with a code wich was enoying.
We booked half-board and ate every evening in the hotel. There are no huge buffets but the food was off a good quality and there was some variaty every evening. Fish and meat were freshly grilled and very yummie. The only downside was the fact that chef doesnt seem to know salt and pepper. Everything was underseasoned.
overall we had a nice week in an hotel with graet value for money.

Room Tip: we found the level-upgrade worthwile
