“Fantastic escapism-relaxed, friendly & excellent service”
Reviewed 31 July 2010

My sister and I enjoyed a long weekend break here. From the moment we checked in to the moment we (reluctantly) checked out we enjoyed every moment. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great with lots of variety and topped up frequently-Cava is hidden in the corner near the fruit juices and really added something special to breakfast! The beach (5 min walk) and centre of Puerto Banus (10 min walk) is ideally located. The room was clean and spacious and had everything we would want. I would recommend this hotel to all (perhaps a bit quiet for hen/stag do's) and would return if husband and children allow a return visit!

Me and 11 other lads were there for 2 nights on a short weekend stag-do and when we arrived we were happy with the 'look' of the hotel but thinking about it when I got back, I realised that I have been to better 3* hotels within Spain. The rooms, were OK but not 4+* quality.
I got up for breakfast after the first night but I really wasn't impressed. The waitors would throw cutlery and crockery on to your table and when I retreived my food from the open buffet everything was cold, which didnt help for the hangover.
Luckily, we didn't spend a lot of time in the hotel. The icing on the cake was when we went to our evening meal, that we had paid for as a package, we were told we were not entitled to one. We retrieved our contract which stated clearly we had paid for the meals but the manager did not allow us to be served nor did he offer any alternative. He just shrugged his shoulders and walked away leaving us with nothing. All in all, a terrible hotel with terrible staff.
The pool was nice though

We visited this hotel last year and found the staff to be a bit surly but loved the room, grounds and location. There have been some cosmetic improvements since our last visit and it looks like the hotel is slowly being refurbished to a higher standard. The staff were also much more friendly this year and made us feel very welcome.

Most guests were European families and there was an afternoon kids club which was organised by a very lovely and enthusiastic Jorge who made a special effort to include our daughter despite the fact she was the only English speaking child. She had a great time because of this.....and so did we.

Stayed in this hotel for 4 nights with my husband. Our room was on the ground floor and had patio doors with easy access to sun lougers which are very comfortable and plentiful. Pool is freezing but once your in your in! The gardens around the pool are lovely and when you sunbathe you are surrounded by birds and butterflies. It was really handy being on the ground floor and having patio doors. Hence I can rate this hotel well and would recommend it albeit with a number of caveats. The rest of this review will sound negative but overall we had a nice time here.

The staff were really quite rude. For a start they wouldn't let us take some fruit from the breakfast back to our room and we kept feeling that everything we did was breaking the "law" of the hotel. The next day we went for breakfast one of the old waiters followed my husband around the buffet to watch what he was taking!! Breakfast is served until 11am but staff don't look too kindly on you arriving for breakfast any later than 10.45 so if you want a lie in be prepared for some dirty looks at your breakfast!!!! Also I asked the barman for a lend of his corkscrew one day and to say I had to negotiate carefully is an understatement. Again I felt like I was breaking the law by having a bottle of my own wine in the room. There is cava with breakfast but it's not in too obvious a location so I think they're not too keen on advertising it. The bottle was empty on the one morning I decided to have a glass and when I asked for more I got another "look". The staff are very grumpy to say the least. There is no tea or coffee provided in the room so you have to pay almost 3 euros for a cup at the bar.

The location of the hotel itself is near the beach but because of the way it's laid out we didn't realise how close it was until the second day of our holiday. The main strip is about a 10 minute walk along the promenade so it's close enough to the action but far enough away if you like peace and quiet. There is also an indoor pool that was closed for maintanence for a few days while we were there but we did end up getting to try it and the jacuzzi before heading home. You have to ring reception if you want them to fire up the sauna. We did this but nobody bothered turning up. By the time it would've warmed up the notion would've gone anyway. Also there is no hairdryer in the room which is not good for a 4 star. All of this sounds very negative but the location of the room we had really made our stay here enjoyable and we turned a blind eye to the staff attitude.

It's a nice quiet family friendly hotel and in a good location. Overall I'd give it 3/5. There are better hotels out there and I much prefer Marbella to Puerto Banus. PB is overpriced and way overrated.

I went on a 5 day shopping/sunny break to this hotel in June. First impressions weren’t great after a 70 euro taxi from the airport to the hotel (which can’t really be helped) we were greeted by....no one. We had to lug our suit cases up the front stairs to the hotel ourselves, out of all the hotels I’ve been to this is a 1st. Check in was smooth and the room was nice, everything and everywhere was extremely clean. I would defiantly recommend getting a deal that includes breakfast; it’s a buffet quite nice great selection of fruit. There’s no way we would have eaten it if it wasn’t included in the price as to buy it would be very expensive, but in a deal worked out at an extra £10 each per day. The 1st day we made the mistake of eating lunch from the buffet in the restaurant the bill came to 65 Euros all we had was a salad each and some cokes. I wouldn’t mind paying for great food but it was well below par for the price tag. After this every evening and lunch time we would go out I would recommend Don Leone on the port front, food was fantastic and staff were great. For lunch our favourite was the 1st beach bar you come across from the hotel the lunch time food was amazing at good prices(sorry can’t remember the name). And finally the most fantastic cocktail bar on the entrance to the port area, huge glasses decorated with lots of fruit at 10 Euros each. The hotel grounds were gorgeous there’s a constant smell of flowers and the 2 pools are lovely I couldn’t fault the hotel itself at all. Unfortunately the staff was a bit of a letdown they came across quite unhelpful and not very interested. I don’t expect to have to walk around looking for a cushion for my sun lounger everyday then have to carry both of them across to my sun bed when I’m staying in a 4 star hotel....also there was no waiter serves for the pool.....and a gym would have been a bonus. I would recommend this hotel for a girly week/weekend overall it was very good.
