I have stayed here a few times now and literally can't get enough, I can't really fault it. We got a transfer from the airport to our hotel saving us about €90 and there was a daily shuttle bus to the beach, aswell as free wifi, stunning pool, lovely food and cocktails. San pedro town is only a ten minute walk away.

The food was good and the staff were nice! More of a family resort but we didn't feel excluded or crowded as a couple. Very relaxing, good shuttle to puerto banus. More of a relaxing holiday than a tourist area. Only downside was that we found a bra in our wardrobe!!

Hey all, just returned from this hotel a week today. Stayed for 4 nights. Firstly I will start by saying what a great hotel, very beautiful. Great breakfast, pools, gym, rooms, staff. Check-in was excellent and quick. So overall I would give the hotel 5*. Now the problem and it's a massive one, I was told the hotel is not far from shops or the beech. That's not true at all. To get to porta Banus 8 min and it's about €10 each way on a taxi. Not good when you are going 4 times a day so a car or bike is a must. I had a bike and it was amazing, felt very safe and it was fun. San Pedro isn't far so maybe 4/5 euros via taxi. I seen a lot of shops and restaurants and many ppl, so if you not the party type this would be perfect. You can actually walk, about 10 min. Make sure u buy drinks and water for your fridge. Hope this helps

We stayed at the Barcelo Marbella from 9th till 16th September. I have to say that this was one of the better holiday hotels that we have stayed in on the Costas. The location was perfect for us, the hotel was outstanding, rooms very large and accommodating, air con was perfect as the temperature outside was very hot. Pool area was very good, enough sun loungers for everyone, and at this time of the year it wasn’t too packed either. We were booked on a bed and breakfast basis, which was excellent. We found the breakfast service to be one of the better ones that we have experienced on holiday: a large display to satisfy most tastes, complete with a chef that cooked omelettes to order every morning. The hotel seems to cater more for Spanish tourists and we saw this as a good thing, because this appeared to be reflected in the food. It was nice to see some of the range of continental meats available for breakfast (that I keep moaning about) for a change, in this case chorizo & salami,
We ate in the restaurant the first & on the penultimate night, and too be fair this was pretty decent as well. A meal for two with a bottle of Rioja was €65. It is in the form of a “help yourself & eat as much as you like” buffet.
Some reviewers on this forum have complained about the remoteness of the hotel from shops restaurants, personally we found this to be its strength. Leaving the hotel entrance bearing left it is a 15 minutes walk to San Pedro Alcantara which there is plenty of shops & restaurants. So I fail to see what the problem is. Although it is about 8 miles from Marbella.
The hotel decor had a certain charm about it as well; the foyer was large and airy with a massive chandelier, very different yet very nice departure from the usual holiday hotels that we have stayed in.
The hotel seems to cater more for Spanish tourists and we saw this as a good thing, because this appeared to be reflected in the food. It was nice to see some of the range of continental meats available for breakfast for a change, in this case chorizo & salami. We also found the bar reasonable as well, €6 for a cocktail and €3 for a beer.
The hotel operates a free shuttle into Puerto Banus, and Marbella. We didn’t use this as we had hired a car. The hotel charges about €10 a night for its underground car park. However coming out of the hotel foyer and bearing left there is car parking to be had along this road, along one may have to search for it. We managed to get a space every night of our stay. (There is a Repsol petrol station at the next junction (Benhavia) 2mins away on the autovia)
The internet on the computers in the foyer are slow, however I found the WIFI access on our Smartphones to be very good, and it’s free.
The hotel was outstanding, and the staff were great. I must mention at this point how good the chambermaids were. They cleaned the rooms daily and seemed to work late into the evenings to do so. We both loved this hotel and we will be back. We regard the Hotel Barcelo Marbella as a very nice find.

Holiday Tip: Check out the beautiful old part of Estepona, a town about 7 miles west on the autovia.

Ps My wife used the spa for a massage and rated it very highly.

Room Tip: Room Tip: We had a room at the back of the hotel overlooking the mountains, nice place to chill in the evening with a drink.

We stayed at the Barcelo Marbella from 11th till 18th September. The location was perfect for us, the hotel was outstanding, rooms very large and accomodating, air con was perfect as the temperature outside was very hot. Pool area was very good, enough sun loungers for everyone, and the pool a welcome break from the heat. (Although the weather was fantastic, we are from Scotland and not used to such glorious weather). We were booked on a bed and breakfast basis, which was excellent, couldn't fault at all. We ate in the restaurant the first night, and it was so good that we only ventured out into San Pedro to eat once during our stay.
The hotel operates a free shuttle into Puerto Banus, and Marbella (in the winter season which we stayed during the cut-off), but a 15 minute walk will take you into San pedro de Alcantara, which is a delightful town, then an easy walk down to the coast which was a hidden gem, lovely esplanade, and the most stunning properties I have ever seen.
The hotel was outstanding, and the staff were great, my partner and I work for Hilton Hotels, so we know what we are talking about, I would recomend the hotel if you are looking for a lovely quiet break, and a golf holiday, it's all around, enjoy, we did and hope to be back.

Room Tip: We had a room overlooking the pool area, cool in the morning, but quite hot in the afternoon, couldn't fault it.
