I thought when I read the comments on here about Senator Hotel that they have been a bit of an over exaggeration... They weren't. I really could not find fault with the place.
Breakfast - served til 10.30am on Monday to Friday and until 11.30am at the weekend. The fry and omelettes are cooked to order and whatever way you like them by the friendly chef, they will cook eggs any way you please. There is a great choice of breads, baguettes, doughnuts, danishes etc to choose from. Also plenty of cheeses, cold meats, fruit and cereal. Unlimited amount of juices, tea/coffees and yoghurts. We used to spend an hour at breakfast just chatting and eating. Very clean restaurant.
Staff at reception were very friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much, they always had great English and a smile.
The bar staff were very nice and the snack menu of baguettes was yum, nice snack to have when taking a break from the sun.
Facilities in the hotel were great, the Spa area (free for guests) consisted of 6 spa pools, one with jets for neck massages, jacuzzi, fruit pool (132 lemons one day), pool with stones to walk around, big pool with water jets to sit on. There are also 2 saunas (one for people in swimwear and another for nudists), steam room and ice room. And all free for guests.
The outdoor pool was on the roof (7th floor) and had plenty of sun loungers, umbrellas, 2 jacuzzis and a swimming pool. It was spotless and the view from it was fab...mountains on 1 side and the sea on the other.
The rooms were clean and had wooden floors. Ample space to hang your clothes up and your suitcase. Bathroom was big with powerful shower. Balcony was big enough to sit out and enjoy an evening on. There was a small fridge in the room. Mine was not working properly initially but it was fixed very quickly when I mentioned it at the reception. Plenty of room for some bottled water and some bottles of beer. Each room has a safe.
The beach was a 5 minute walk and it was about a 15 minute walk down the beach to the restaurants and bars.
I would have no hesitation recommending this hotel. For parents with small children, it doesn't have as kids club. I doubt that this will be my last visit here...I hope.
