Was most delighted with the hotel , once we found it !!!!!! We had hired a car from the airport
Got no map or directions(we had our own Sat.Nav. With us, but ??? It wouldn't work when we
Tried it.
Anyway about the hotel , more than delighted , in fact even more so. We were upgraded to a
Suite, and was most impressed.
Then had a problem with a suitcase which wouldn't open, and reception had someone up to us
As quick as the phone call was dealt with, most impressive. In fact the staff were all nice, we
Didn't and couldn't find a fault with anything.

Room Tip: Higher floors have less noise but then they are all the suites

My boyfriend and I recently stayed at the Hotel Senator, Marbella. I honestly couldn't fault it, from our room, the staff, the facilities (spa, and roof top pool), the food and how clean everything was! The hotel plays a huge part in a holiday and our holiday was perfect! I would highly recommend this hotel, and I will defiantly return! We even noticed that the hotel was perfect for family holidays with children from a young age, however the hotel suits all age ranges.

We stayed here on the 28/07/2014 for a four night honeymoon break. Upon arrival we were greeted by a friendly gentleman however we were disappointed when we got to room and looked outside, our balcony overlooked a rubbley car park! Tried explaining it was our honeymoon but didn't get moved to a higher floor, instead the next day we came back to a bottle of bubbly which was a nice gesture. Our room was spacious and clean with maid service daily. Amazing views from roof top pool which was lovely and bar service started about midday where they also served toasties. There was no hotel entertainment during our stay. Another downside was that dinner isn't served til 8.30 which is late for early eaters like us, we waited for our first night as we were half board but it wasn't worth the wait, the food was something you'd whip up out of the freezer and the potatoes were dry. The breakfast was better though with plenty selection. Hotel just a short stroll from beach which is handy and there's lots of beach cafés for eating and drinks. Couldn't find any evening entertainment along there or strip but we had a horse and cart ride which was romantic. A taxi to puerto banus is around 10 euros but be prepared to pay 10-12 euros for your drinks, amazing area though with stunning yachts and expensive cars, designer shops etc. We also took a walk to old town which we loved the most, it's very rustic with cobbled streets, cute little cafés and a church. Overall hotel a good base but would recommend room only or b&b

Room Tip: Higher floors offer the best views

My boyfriend and I (in our twenties) stayed at this hotel for 5 days this July, and we really did love it there! Honestly, there is barely anything to complain about. Room was lovely and clean, if basic, and was cool at night despite 34 degree heat outside! Breakfast is fantastic, good choices, cereal, fruit, Nespresso machines! Spa, rooftop pool, supermarket a few mins away, beach front just a stroll away. There is bus stop at the pharmacy just outside the hotel, and for €1.18 you can be at the old town. You can also get the bus to Puerto Banus for the same price (other side of the road), only about 10/15 mins away if that.

All I would say is that the hotel does need a bit of a spruce up; there is a fenced off metal barrier area and half-finished car park outside, plus the rooms do need a bit of decoration. For example, there are a few marks on the walls and orange paint is maybe a bit dated! The staff were lovely, had no complaints at all about them. It wa s avery relaxed atmosphere, quiet at night, I slept well and the location was, for me anyway, perfect. I agree with comments on getting the airport bus and then taxi; you'll save a fortune!

The rooms were clean and comfortable. The bathroom was very clean and newly refurbished so had a nice modern look. The rooms were a good size, comfortable (always had a great sleep) and included air conditioning at no extra cost. The safe could be hired out at 5.25 per day. OuWe recently stayed at the Senator hotel for 4 nights over a weekend. The rooftop pool is great and very chilled out, rarely a problem getting a sunbed. The bar is now open and it is reasonably priced 2.50 for a toastie and 6 euros for a cocktail.
The hotel was around a 3 minute walk to the nearest supermarket and a 5 minute walk to the beach.
The reception staff were more than accommodating and were always willing to offer help. We visited the spa briefly and it was lovely and quiet. Our room was cleaned daily too.
To get here from the airport get the direct bus to marbella (6.15) then a taxi to the hotel - around 8 euros. Much cheaper than a 60-80 euro taxi!
Overall I would definitely stay again and recommend this hotel to a friend.

Having read a real mixed bag of reviews on this hotel before visiting it mid July, I was beginning to wonder what we had done in booking this!

Hopefully my review will "set the record straight"! To start we booked a basic double room including breakfast for a very good rate through Alpharooms. I definitely wasn't expecting to be staying in the sea view or executive rooms for this price and was correct in this, however overall the value was excellent.

Guest wise I'd say majority Spanish and Russian with the odd Brits, Dutch and Germans too. A real mixture which was nice. All the staff we encountered were helpful and I think those that report staff as rude etc are mistaking their nature. I think the Spanish are generally laid back people and the fact that they are not rushing about and cracking endless jokes with you doesn't mean they are not pleasant and helpful. I feel sorry for Alexandria who got named in a review for being rude when she was really sweet to us.

As with other reviews there are deposits for most things such as pool towels, irons etc but if you intend to return the items then what's the problem with this.

The rooms are spacious, clean and do the job for those not wanting to spend a lot of time in their room. The decor is a little tired but we didn't go to stare at the cupboards. Everyone gets a nice balcony even if the view was partially over the carpark, we didn't mind. The air con worked well and kept the room cool and the mini fridge kept drinks just about cold enough. There's an ice bucket that you can just take down to the bar in reception and they just fill it up for you which was useful. Lovely bathroom with twin sinks and separate WC. Hairdryer provided but it's one of those you have to keep your finger pressed down to work. There was a safe which was free and had instructions on how to set which was great. Quiet at night despite people on here complaining otherwise. The blackout curtains meant I slept like an absolute log!

Pool was great, one large pool and 2 jacuzzis/smaller pools to chose from and plenty of loungers all on the roof of the hotel with spectacular views of the sea and surrounding area. Never struggled to get a lounger at any time of day and the area was very quiet with only 2 kids playing in one of the 5 days we stayed. There's a chillout shaded area near the pool bar serving cocktails/beers/soft drinks and toasties, crisps, ice creams etc to keep you going. Not exactly cheap but convenient.

We only ate breakfast in the restaurant which was pretty good with plenty of choice. On entry to the breakfast room the checks on your room are pretty vigarous and those speeding past the desk to just sit down were quickly collared and asked to produce their room card as we suspected some guests had no breakfast included in their room rate and were trying it on. Apparently it was about 12 euros for the breakfast if it wasn't in your rate so definitely worth having in your rate and paying in advance! Liked the freshly squeezed orange juice and coffee brought to the table every morning. Great omelette making station which I had most mornings and loads of pastries to chose from. You could just about cobble together an English breakfast if you wanted although stay well clear of the sausages they were like frankfurters and barely cooked! I'm picking there though there really was a decent choice, even a glass of cava for those brave enough to want it at that hour. We noticed signs up asking guests not to take food from the breakfast room i.e. making up sandwiches for lunch which we saw several people trying only to be confronted by the waiting staff. Some people are so tight I'm glad they don't stand for this type of thing.

The location of the hotel is great, just a 10 minute stroll down to the beach where the restaurants and bars line the sea front. Can recommend tahini and cappuccino to eat and avoid La Peschina like the plague. If you want to experience rude staff then go there!!
About 10 mins walk down the main road past the pharmacy out towards Puerto Banus brings you to an Indian, Thai and Italian restaurant of which we tried the thai and it was fabulous. 7 euros got you a taxi into marbella old town/orange square and about 8 back later and 12 euros to Puerto Banus harbour, 15 on the way home. There is an El Corte Ingles bang opposite with a basement supermarket which was excellent to stock up on water and lunch items. We even got plastic cups/plates here so we could have lunch on our balcony each day. There's also a Lidl about 10 mins down the road which was probably cheaper but we never ventured to it. There's a cash point by the pharmacy about 2 mins walk from the hotel. You can tab items to your room with a credit card swipe on arrival.

All in all we really enjoyed our stay here and had only minor quibbles. Only thing i'd say is this isn't a family hotel, more business, couples and a few hen/stag dos thrown in.

I hope this review helps and if you are simply looking for a clean, reasonable base near to all local attractions then chose this. If you want luxury don't, go for one of the expensive places nearer Puerto Banus. At the end of the day you do get what you pay for although this place exceeded for what we paid. Would return if coming back to the area. Thanks for a lovely stay.
