“Cosy, shabby chic, B&B”
Reviewed 17 September 2013

The two French daughters (?) we're very helpful and welcome when we arrived. You need a car! Breakfast was just perfect. On the first floor there are 2 big rooms with garden view. Room "Jacques" and Room "Olivier". Because we have bought a house ( with 1 bedroom haha) in the neighbor hood, we probably will not return, but we try to put our guests in the future over there because it has a cosy homely atmosphere.

Room Tip: Room Jacques and room Olivier on the first floor with garden view. Or the garden rooms.....

Selected this accommodation as my boyfriend and I wanted a relaxing romantic break whilst attending an event in Marbella - so glad we found this small beautiful boutique hotel, perfect hideaway in peaceful surroundings. We stayed for 4 nights early September, not many guests so very quiet. The staff were friendly and helpful, they have an informal relaxed approach, felt as if we were staying with old friends and could come and go as we pleased. No fuss or frills, the rooms are characterful and comfortable, lots of books to browse, a piano which guests are welcome to play, a stepping machine on the patio, a good size pool and the garden is like an oasis , we loved the four poster sun beds that we could share whilst reading and soaking up some sun. Breakfast is simple but adequate. If you want a peaceful relaxing place within a short drive of Marbella then we highly recommend Casa La Concha.

Stayed with my boyfriend in this relaxing guest house during the month of July (a really busy time around Marbella) and it was the best decision we made. It is out of the busy areas, but close enough (by car) if you want to escape to the beach or for drinks. Whenever we went back, it felt like going back to the nicest of homes!

Within a couple of hours of arriving and settling into our cottage we felt chilled and relaxed. Our cottage Natalia was charming, with a four-poster bed with beautiful linens looking out on to a small terrace with chairs and table. That night we had a wonderful restful sleep due to the quiet surroundings of the cottage in the grounds of the villa. The pool was a lovely size for a bed and breakfast establishment and clean and tidy. The villa is ideally situated between Marbella and Puerto Banus so if you have a car, all are within a ten-minute drive. The beach is to far to walk to without a car but the cost of a short taxi there and back is minimal and worth it for the peace and relaxation of staying at this lovely villa. Also big thank-you to Marie-Helene for her help organising a taxi at 7am when our hire car failed to start. To sum up, if you are looking for a place to stay in Marbella with character, tranquility, beautiful surroundings and very reasonable rates, look no further.

I recently visited Casa La Concha with a friend. We booked it looking for a really peaceful and secluded location just to rest and relax and, to be fair, this exactly what we got. There is no mistaking the grounds are beautiful, the house is homely and calming and the bedrooms are clean and comfortable. However, there were a few too many negatives for us to be able to return or recommend this location with any enthusiasm.

Firstly, upon arrival at around 10pm, we were checked in very casually and advised there is no fridge in the room, as advertised. There was also no complimentary bottle of cava, as advertised. There were no robe and slippers, as advertised. There was no hairdryer, as advertised.

In addition, please note there is no door on the toilet in the bedroom we stayed in. Awkward when staying with a friend.

The next morning we enjoyed our breakfast and set ourselves up for a day at the poolside. Which is lovely, clean and quiet. Many a relaxed hour was spent by the pool. We briefly spoke to the owner and asked if we could book a massage for the next day, as advertised.......you catch my drift ?! She advised us she would book this in. Whilst relaxing by the pool we noticed a new guest arrived and was presented with a bottle of cava. So we went and asked where ours was and was advised it had been in their fridge all along, but not given to us.

The owners family were staying so her attention was distracted, which may be the main reason I can see for the lack of 'boutique' personalised attention to detail we encountered. We were advised the next day that the masseur was unavailable and would we like another beauty treatment. Disappointing.

Not having a car is an issue here, because with no fridge In our room we had nowhere to keep lunch or cool drinks. The owner did say we could use hers in the family kitchen, but as it was usually occupied with her family this felt uncomfortable and intrusive.

We enquired with one of the family who are on hand to help, as to a tapas bar we could go to for dinner. She told us she would make us a reservation. So one taxi journey later we arrive in the old town to find the restaurant is shut....! No one advised us of this!! Personally, we did not see much of the friendly, welcoming team we expected. Mostly we encountered feeling awkward having to disturb them to ask questions.

The evening before our departure we enquired into booking a taxi to the airport. The first lady thay we spoke to advised this was not possible bit she would send an email!?!? The we spoke to the owner who advised she would sort it for us. We also wanted to settle our final bill and asked her if she would be around in the morning before 9am to see us off. She assured us she would be. She was not! A taxi did turn up, but who knows who booked it. The money was taken off my credit card, whereas we were going to split the bill my friend and I.

On a final note, the morning we left, the water was off.....!

To surmise, do not expect the attentive, concierge boutique style of hotel at the Casa La Concha. We were expected to be totally self sufficient and were left feeling a little uncomfortable.

Hello,
I am so sorry about all what has happened!, Fadi the masseur had to fly to Libanon urgently( I wouldn't advise another one , he is the best, and massages have to be done in a correct way, if not they can let you quite bad!) and it is true I was not a lot around,I was sick going from a doctor to another, I normaly pamper my guests , you can see it in my reviews.
The bathrobs and slippers, we take it out in summer, it is so hot that noboby uses it, but from now on I will put a little paper in the room , that if you feel to have it just ask for it, no problem. The hair dryer was in the little closet down the sink.
The little fridge,:this room had one last year, but clients were complaining about the noise of it this is why I took it out,and decide to let space in my fridge, without any problem.I am so sorry you felt that may be you could disturb! This makes me think that I have to find another solution, for next year .
The restaurant: this I have no answer
I hope that you could relax a little bit
Have a nice evening
Marie-Helene

Had great expectations from this place after reading the other reviews but were let down. This place is described as shabby chic, well we found it to be more shabby than chic. Our thoughts as follows:
Positives: Good location in a quiet residential area within reach of the beach, restaurants and shops.
Relaxed atmosphere, come and go as you please.
Staff friendly.
Rooms clean and beds comfy.
Negatives: The owner seemed to have a lot of her family staying so you do feel like an intruder on their holiday.
There were dogs roaming the garden and with young children running around we didnt feel this was hygienic.
Dogs shut in one of the cottages and keep us awake barking until 3 in the morning.
The breakfast was the worst we have ever had anywhere. Not much to choose from, a lovely enormous bowl of fruit but sadly the only soft and ripe fruit were the apples!
Seated on red plastic chairs for breakfast.
Overall we think that if you are a young couple or young family and love dogs then this might be the place for you but for us 50 something's it just wasn't our cup of tea, sorry.

Hello Rose,
breakfast: yogurts, spanish cheese and ham, 3 kinds of crunchy cereals, fresh baguette or whole meal bred butter and 2 kinds of marmelad, eggs, fruits, orange juice, coffee, tea, milk...
dogs barging: they had never been closed in a cottage! They are not even allowed to enter cottages and the main house!!! One night we closed them were they are closed in the day , far from the cottages. They were barging too much at the end of the garden, dogs have their job at night!Kind of security!
They play with children, they love children and children usualy love them..I can understand not everybody loves dogs!
Anyway I am sorry you could not enjoy your days here.
Have a nice evening

Stayed a week with my wife earlier this month in Cova, one of the garden rooms.

The owners were very helpful during booking, and welcoming when we got there. The place is 5 mins drive from the beach and Marbella centre, 10 minutes from Puerto Banus. Would definitely recommend a hire car (we went through malagarcar.com who were also very good) as there are very few shops within walking distance - also gives you the chance to explore inland to Ronda and the mountains.

Casa La Concha itself was perfect for us. My wife is 7 months pregnant and we wanted somewhere homely where she could totally relax (and mostly sleep). Our room was large and comfortable, we had our own terrace and access to the pool area which was mostly deserted even though the hotel was full. The gardens are lovely with loads of chairs and day beds dotted around to sit and read or listen to your ipod. When you return to the house after your evening meal you will be greeted by 4 lovely little dogs!

All in all, it suited us perfectly - sunshine, space, luxury, peace and quiet. And when you do want a bit of night life you can pop into Puerto Banus, enjoy a meal by the harbour and watch the rich Essex boys driving round in their ferraris!!

We'd definitely go back!
