We were traveling through europe, and had planned a longer stay in a beach resort location to recover from the big cities. We chose Villa Tiphareth based on the description of the location and facilities. We were disappointed on all accounts. The Villa was described as very close to the city limit, which technically is true, however between the city limit and any thing you would want to see (i.e old part of Marbella) is several miles of car dealerships and other not attractive businesses. Furthermore, the Villa was described at being located 300 m from the beach. I walked it, and with my GPS measured 1, 3 KM. The walk is also not an attractive one, walking along rubbish strewn roads, and under the highway. The beach is also not a beach, in my mind, rather it is a piece of coastline. The difference is to me a question of facilities, of which there were none on the particular piece of coast line. Also did not help to be met by the local vagrants. The room was I guess adequate, however, there was no air conditioning and the decor was to my taste rather tacky, attempting a moroccan theme with some kitsch and hand painted scenes. As for the room it self, we had the feeling of being in somebody's back yard, which essentially you are. There was a strange atmosphere of having to be very careful not to make noise, making the pool rather dull for children. The pool it self was in keeping with the room, and not tiled, rather it was lined with a tile printed vinyl making it rather tacky as well. There are no facilities in the hotel, and you have to go out for food or drinks, be it to consume in your room or to go to a restaurant. There is a small grocery store a good 10 - 15 minute walk away, along with a restaurant. Apparently you could by some drinks at the hotel, but how you would go about doing this is a little uncomfortable, seeing as you have to find the owner in their private apartments. There is no lobby area. The owner was perfectly nice, and I´m sure is trying to make your stay as pleasant as possible. However, we decided to leave after only one of the planned 4 nights, and booked inn at a local 5 star resort for only 30 euros more pr. night (Los Monteros). The difference was night and day. I would not recommend this hotel to anybody with children, nor to anybody who doesn't have a car. I´m sure this hotel would suite some people, but personally I can´t understand why you would choose this given the choice available at similar prices. I understand wanting to stay at a boutique hotel, that was what we were looking for. Put quite honestly, Villa Tiphareth is not a boutique hotel
