I stayed here with a friend from July 2nd to 9th, 2012.

Location: Great – opposite a very clean beach el Bajondillo, with many bars/cafes, e.g. food being barbequed, tapas and Burger King. Next to an entertainment centre with pool tables, crazy golf, air hockey, basketball games etc, 15mins walk uphill to the actual town centre with the main shops, restaurants and bars –there is also a lift up to the top which was 50 cents per person
.
Hotel food and bar: Drinks by pool very expensive as expected. We walked to a supermarket nearby and brought our drinks back in. Breakfast – buffet, food mostly very good, some items do get cold sat there. A chef cooks pancakes, omelettes, fried eggs at the counter. Plenty of non cooked items too, incl donuts, fruit and cereal. Free use of fruit juice and tea/coffee machines. There is definitely something there for everyone.

Hotel Ameneties: Many pools (some we had to ourselves), as you can use the others in the complex, and at least 2 jacuzzis. People did reserve sunbeds early, but small groups should find some somewhere at all times of the day, though finding a sunshade is harder. Always very clean, and some have lifeguards & allow inflatables. Free table tennis, tennis and bowls. Reps do activities, e.g. shooting, water polo and aqua aerobics. Free wifi in lobby, not in bedrooms. Entertainment was good the night we saw, and we couldn’t hear it the other nights from our room so you should sleep well.

Room: Cleaned thoroughly every day, flatscreen TV with BBC1, BBC news and channel 4, asked for a room with a walk in shower as these have been recently renovated… the bathroom was amazing (huge shower, everything new).

Overall I would recommend this place to anyone, it was definitely a 4* hotel across the board, with aspects of 5* thrown in and no nasty surprises.

Room Tip: Rooms with a walk in shower have been recently renovated.

I am so glad that you really enjoyed the hotel and the Sol Don Hotels complex. I see that you managed to get around to the other areas around the gardens and found the various pools and sunbathing areas.
We hope to see you again. Thank you for your review.

Stayed at the hotel on the 1st august to the 6th August for a weeks holiday with my little boy of 9. What can I say - it was great!!!! Staff on reception were really friendly as were all the staff from the waiters/ess's to the entertainment crew to the housekeepers.
Entertainment was great especially on the evening. Something for everyone to the entertainment during the day. My only negative was that they did use the childrens pool for the aqua earobics and the water volley ball so the children had two everyday where they could not use the pool. This was a pain to start with but my little boy got used to it - so I'd prewarn children before you go.
The rooms were fine, small empty fridge in room was great so could stock up on water and drinks.
Food for the adults was great, lots of choices. However for the younger guests, after a few nights my little boy got fed up with the pizza and chips or pasta (it would have been nice to see perhaps more child friendly meals) saying that there is a Burger King two mins away.
The area itself around the hotel was very safe for children especiaaly when they make friends as my son did and they wanted to go off for a walk.
The Old Town was lovely - well worth a visit and the shops, cafes and bars near the hotel were great too.
As soon as we got home my little boy asked to go back again next year which was lovely as he did not say that about last years holiday so must have been good as he's quite hard to please at times. Whether your going as a family or on your own this is a great hotel and location and it is only 15 mins from the airport so you know you haven't got that 2hour coach journey like you get on some holidays.
Will I be back - most definatly - will be back next year!!!!!!! Amanda and Will - Solihull

Room Tip: Just go and enjoy yourself and make your own mind up on what the hotel is like - we did.

We are always glad to have happy guests back. We know we are doing something right!
I'm sorry if the aquagym disturbed at the activities pool. Next time have a look around as there are 9 pools in all and there are other pools for youngsters and adults alike. Perhaps your son would even like to join in the Mini Club. Not all kids want to, but all those that go seem to want to go back! They make friends of all nationalities and the monitors are very caring and great fun.
We look forward to your next visit. Thank you.

We arrived on 5th August 2 adults and 1 child (13years) for a week half board.

The hotel is very clean with various pools although the sunbeds are usually gone early. We went to the beach every day so not a problem for us. (3 sunbeds cost €13,5, not cheap).

The food is buffet style and I must say it is very good (we have stayed half board on numerous occasions and this is definitely the best so far). At breakfast you can have anything along with fruit juice and tea/coffee. In the evening there are 3 or 4 different hot meats (lamb, chicken, beef, pork, kebabs and various vegetables (including broccoli/carrots/jacket pots) along with a very good choice at the salad bar. There is also an Italian bar serving pizzas and pasta, lasagne etc. I have on good authority (I don't eat these) that the deserts and cakes are delicious. The only downside to the evening meal is the cost of the drinks. The coke and fanta are in small 200 ml bottles. 1 each of these and a small water is €6 - a bit hefty in my opinion. There are no free drinks available in the evening.

The hotel entertainment is fairly good with decent rehearsed shows on every night at 22.15 suitable for all the family. Before this is a children’s program. There is also a kids club for the younger ones that always looked busy and fun.

I would recommend this hotel but not the resort. We didn't find many bars with entertainment but there are few restaurants along the front and beach bars by this hotel. All in the entire hotel is very good but the resort is disappointing and drinks/food and sunbeds are overpriced. We hired a pedalo for an hour costing €20 which didn't seem too bad.

We didn't try the fitness centre or the spa so have marked average for these for this reason.

Room Tip: We had room 918 on the top floor that had a pool and sea view along with a balcony.

Thank you for your review. I am so glad that you appreciated the hotel, even though Torremolinos was not exactly what you were looking for. It is very much a family resort and the entertainment is mostly about bars and restaurants rather than shows and so on. In a way it is a more spanish-style holiday town. There is more in the way of noisy entertainment a short cab ride away in Benalmadena port.
Thanks again.

Stayed at the Sol Don Pablo 2/7 -16/7. Was impressed from the minute we entered the reception, beautiful traditional Spanish hotel , check in was quick and we were given room 347 which was spacious with a massive corner balcony overlooking the bowling green and sea. The hotel is spotless , cleaners do a great job. Outside areas are the same, gardens are beautiful and our kids loved the aviary ! Staff were all friendly and helpfull ! Hotel is in an excellent location , directly across road from El Bajondillo beach which is beautiful and spotless , you can also walk along the beautiful promenade to La Carihuela with lovely bars/shops along the way or even further into Benalmadena where you can go to the marina which is lovely ! Never had problems getting beds at the pool each morning and there is plenty of pools to choose from ! Food was excellent , plenty of choice , baring in mind that this is not a mainly British hotel (yay !!) and they were catering for several nationalities I think they did a brilliant job (hence the 8lbs weight again lol ) We travelled with other family and never had problem getting table for 10 in restaurant ! Kids club was fantastic and my daughter especially loved the afternoon session as they did lots of art and crafts stuff which she loves. They also got to take part in 1 of the night time Disney shows each week which was great !! Night time entertainment was good , kids loved the mini disco (have had to download Chu Chu Au from youtube lol ) some shows better than others but its a personal taste thing , loved the Grease / Disney /Drifters shows. Overall we all had an excellent holiday , didn't want to come home and plan on returning next year (and probably many years after that !)

My husband and I stayed in the Don Pablo for 1 week, very warm welcome, reception very inviting, rooms spotless and the cleaning service second to none. The only criticism is that our room was on the 3 floor (OK) but it was next to the room where the cleaners filled their buckets every morning early, such banging and tapping at that hour, I am a non drinker so I was easy to wake.
The food was excellent, all staff helpful, and the hotel was very clean. I hope to return again and hopefully get a room away from the cleaners room.

Room Tip: Not beside the cleaners room near the lift

This Hotel has the perfect location with a walk out the main entrance and across the road to the beach. All areas are spotless and finished in a traditional authentic Spanish theme. Air conditioning worked perfect in our spacious room. Cleaning was carried out every day to a good standard with towels also changed. Entertainment may not be everybody's cup of tea but it would be very hard to please all. Drinks at he poolside might not be the cheapest but remember that you have all the facilities including sunbeds, choice of pools, showers, jacuzzi etc. I would rate the food at 7/10. Overall we found this hotel to be a very good choice for 5 adults and 2 children aged 9 & 13.

Thank you for your review Ray M.
We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay with us.
I would like to take the opportunity to explain or laundry policy. We change sheets every three days unless required to do so more frequently. Towels are changed as long as guests leave them on the floor. If the guest chooses to hang the towel back up it is understood that they would rather save the water and detergent for another day. That way we can collaborate with our guests to be a little more ecological.
Thanks again for your review and pleaswe come back.

we took our two children aged 6 and 2. booked through jet2. fantastic early flight and short transfer from airport approx 20 mins. a taxi would be around 18 euros. On arrival we were given an option of a room on the 8 th floor with a balcony or a bigger room on the 9 th floor with no balcony. we chose the 8 th floor as the balcony view was excellent and great to relax at night. there were 4 single beds together in the room which might not suit all but it was ideal for us. room had air con which worked a treat as it was 32 degrees when we were there.
The hotel was predominantly Spanish but a good mix of Brits,Irish,German and french people. no problem getting a subbed whatsoever in the pool area. the grounds, pool and toilets in the pool were again spotless. we found the entertainment to be more Spanish orientated but as it wasn't something we were really interested in we were only there once and didn't use the kids club but the kids there looked to have had a ball.
we found an excellent choice of food (we were half board) would have preferred proper real fruit juice rather than the machine watered down stuff. fantastic choice at breakfast of cooked and continental fare. evening meals were also very good with no issues getting things for the kids to eat and healthy options.
food at the poolside was quite good but expensive and bar prices were a put off. the cocktails were a disappointment as they were premixed from bottles and not made fresh.
the lifts could be a pain a peak times but the same could be said at any hotel. tip for the lifts is to use the single lift opposite the other 3 although older it seemed to be less used when we were there. there are signs that areas have been modernised but the hotel and location was ideal for us and would recommend the holiday for those that like a quiet holiday.
