We think the Don Pablo is great and go back year after year, very clean, friendly staff, foods good, always something to do with the entertainment team, no time to get bored and very handy for town, shops and train station, cant wait to go back in 3 weeks

Just back from a very good holiday in Torremolinos Spain....stayed in Sol don Pablo.Very good and well planned hotel.Lovely rooms, pools and just across beach.lots of kids activities .very beautifully made and managed hotel.we took a half board and the breakfast was good and so was the dinner.only if they had little more variety for vegetarians and serve some halal food. Was a bit tired of eating fish by day 4.But there are lots of halal kebab shops around in the centre. My kids loved the hotel.

Room Tip: The family rooms dont come with balcony, so if you are three ask for double room with ectra bed and...

Really enjoyed our stay in this hotel... and you can tell it is a "little bit better" than some hotels the moment you arrive in the lovely hotel reception area..STAFF are EXCELLENT .. Rooms and entertainment the same..!!! This hotel ( as with all larger hotels ) could do with the rooms titivating up but the pool areas and gardens are superb..!! Location is beach front ( nearer the airport end ) but a good 10 minute taxi ride to Benelmadina or 50 minutes walk..!!! The beach walkway is long and flat and you can choose to do anything you want.. But beware the "scratch card" people who stop you for a SURVEY... But end up giving you a FREE scratchcard... You know the rest..you win a MAGNIFICENT PRIZE.. Avoid them..all in all a great break though and as i said .. A great hotel..!!!!

The hotel has an ideal location, very close to the beach, cafes, bars, shops and restaurants. When we stayed there most of the guests were English, many of them looked like if they had walked directly out of a "Miss Marple"-film. The English are always very polite and generous, good at small talk. I would say they were a positive element and piffed up the stay.
Everything is large, reception area, restaurant, pool areas etc, etc., except the elevators. As we were staying on the eighth floor we had to use them, - the elevators. Three elevators to serve hundreds of people is risky business. We spent quite a bit of time waiting for them to come. ...
Our room with side sea view was nice and clean. So was the balcony as well.
Arriving late in he evening we were a bit disappointed that the minibar was empty. Had been looking forward to relax with some snacks and a drink. The hotel had this strange system, you were supposed to fill in a "minibar-form", leave it at the reception. Then the maid would fill up the fridge at next cleaning. For us there was no point.
Breakfast was great, large selection of everyting. Appreciated opening hours: 07.30 - 10.30. The staff worked hard to fill up the Counters. Missed nothing. The restaurant is huge and looks more like a canteen.
We also had lunch and dinner, but after a few times we had had enough. Will not recommend this.
There are 5 pools to be used and lots of sunbeds. Still it was difficult to get a free sunbed after 10.30 in the morning. I wonder how the situation is in the high season!!

Room Tip: Rooms towards east have nicer view!

Dear "Anette B",

Thank you for you comments about Sol Don Pablo. About the mini Bar service, we can provide you with all the drinks you need just calling to the reception or the room service directly. regarding your comment about the reserved sunbeds, we kindly ask our guest to remove their towels in case they are not using it, it is also noticed by advertisement at the whole resort that sunbeds can not be reserved.
We hope you come back to Sol Don Pablo as soon as possible.

Regards.

Stayed here for a week late May. It must be cut backs in Sol Hotels but this is my 11th year in row in one one of their hotels on the costa and there appears to be serious cut backs in the food selection. Whilst not a fussy eater the food is going downhill rapidly! The Don Pablo is in a good location, the rooms are smallish but the decor, the doors furniture, doors and patio door to balcony were literally falling apart. Reception was very slow.We stood there for 25 mins only to be told there were no rooms ready. Thats ok we were there at 1.pm its normally 2pm check in but there was only 1 couple on queue ahead of us! So to wait that long to be told no rooms ready was unacceptable, I would not have liked to be there if there was a large queue. All in all hotel was ok, crowd in hotel 90% were over 50s like me so nothing mad going on! Service in restaurant was poor in regard to clearing tables and wait for tea coffee etc was quite slow...always problems with machines. I have noticed declining factors though in Sol Hotels in last few years foodwise and service wise..maybe its the recession! One plus factor was the entertainment crew were fun and did a good job.Found in recent years the Sol Principe entertainment was gone "too" professional for its own good. The crew in the Pablo were 1st class and had the fun factor going!

Just returned from the Don Pablo and would definitely visit again. Location was excellent, tourist information 200 yards from hotel with bus and rail access to visit Malaga,Marbella and Mijas mountains with ease. The hotel was really clean and the food very good, staff were helpful and the gardens were a pleasant peaceful area on an evening to sit and enjoy a drink after dinner. The room had a fridge which was a pleasant surprise, however like many other Spanish hotels no kettle available so remember if you like a hot drink to take your travel kettle.

Room Tip: Garden view at back of hotel for pleasant views

We were here mid may and really enjoyed our stay. We were on 8 th floor as we'd asked for a higher floor over looking the bowling greens.hotel is very spainish in style dark wood and floor tiles polished to perfection and kept super clean. Our room was good size plently of lamps and storage space. Small lcd tv.Bathrooms were fine also with selection of toiletries razor toothbrushes etc. we were half board and we could not complain about anything.breakfast had loads of fruit cereals ham cheese and the hot options. I always got the chef to cook my eggs fresh.dining room is large so no problem geting tables.we finished off with bucks fizz each morning. Evening meal plenty of choice again the chefs will be cooking meat to order. Loads of veg and good choice of potatoes chips, roast, saute etc., fruit, desserts again very good. Staff were friendly and helpful .the grounds of this hotel were well maintained and plenty of sun lounge areas overlooking the promanade and beach. We had good weather so enjoyed these and the beach, bowling greens which provided my husband with few hours entertainment. During our stay there was alot of elderly guests and the evening entertainment was probably more suited to them.. We would go out into torremolinos and find a few bars with live music which was good craic. As it had been about 5 years since we'd been to spain perferring turkey we were pleasantly surprised with the euro prices and the spainish seemed to be much more friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Just email ahead to ask for choice of room etc

Dear jensim7,
Thanks for your in-depth review of the Don Pablo. I am so glad that we managed to exceed your expectations and possibly even tempt you away from Turkey again?!
Food and entertainment are two corner stones of the Sol brand, so we pay a lot of attention to the buffet ensuring that there is a lot of choice and also a good proportion of healthy options (as well as pizzas and chips). The entertainment, as you mention, is adapted throughout the year to appeal to the majority of the guests. As spring is upon us it is all getting a little livelier now and also includes a lot more focus on kids.
I'm glad tht the weather was good for you as we have had a couple of rather untypical weeks in May.
Thanks again for taking the time to review us.
Kind regards,
