“Perfect location, Shame about the restaurant!!”
Reviewed 12 September 2011

Perfect location and great hotel in many ways. Had a great room on top floor with fantastic view to the beach. Beds are realy great, Had free towels to use for beach and pool area.
Pool area a little small compared to the size of the hotel, which bring me to the topic:
DONT EAT HERE! Have been to many 4 stars hotel, where the food was better. Not bad but, disapointed compared to the price. The worst was the NOISE! you couldnt hear what you were thinking!! Putting so many people into one room, for eating realy a shame.
I would like to go back to the hotel room and the location but never for eating at the restaurant!!

My son and I recently stayed at this hotel for 1 week. We booked via a Jet 2 package holiday as I didn't want to drive and thought the support of a rep might be handy. We arrived late via a coach. Immeditely things started to go wrong when my 11 yr old realised he had left his bag containing all the stuff 11 yr old love on the coach. We were both gutted. We were given keys to our room and then discovered the air con was not working. Things were not going well. However within minutes an engineer visited the room and the air con worked bautifully (v quiet actually compared to many others). Also after a few phone calls my son's bag was returned so all was good. Hotel was right on the beach and although beach busy it was very lovely. Big waves and a wonderful breeze. The hotel had a small pool but it didn't get busy as there were so few beds around the pool I think most people just went to the beach. You could always find a chair and a parasol to sit under though around the pool. Drinks in the hotel can be very expensive e.g. 1 bottle of San Miguel and I orange juice came to over 9 euros. There are small kiosks along the front were you can purchase drinks for a fraction of the price. There are also loads of bars and resturants and if you love seafood this is the place for you. However most tastes are catered for. Other big bonus for me not a single mosquito bite. Being further out of the med and the big waves and breeze maybe keeps them away. Hotel was lovely staff, on reception great. Breakfast was noisy but the choice excellent.

My review of The Melia in Costa del Sol Malaga is not the most appealing, suffice to say I was more than disspointed. Travelling as someone who speaks spanish you will feel much more comfortable, you will be able to communicate with the staff and people on the strip, if not than heaven help you cause no one else will!. Spaniards to not distinguish between Amercians and Canadians, to them we are all the same. It is obvious in there tone and service that they do not like Americans and will not go that extra mile to accomodate. There are no english stations in the hotel room for the exception of Fox (And Discovery and National Greographic come on once in a while), so once you arrive at your hotel at night and want to catch a flick or a program forget it.

Second thing I disliked but is obviously out of the control of the resort is the Ocean there is freezing, almost to cold to swim. We would go in for 3 or 4 minutes and get out.

Last but not lease get ready to spend, everything in Malaga costs money even at your resort. It is so easy to keep charging to your room and buy the time you leave you end up with a heafty tab.

Room Tip: We were on our honey moon and requested a honey room sweet, if that was a sweet I don´t want to see...

We stayed at this hotel the last week of august 2011. Our flight was cancelled back to New York because of hurricane Irene so we got to stayed at the hotel for a total of 10 days and it was wonderful. So let's review a few things, let's start with the strengths: the location of this hotel is perfect just on the beach and with the stairs to go up to the center of torremolinos easily. There are very fine restaurants in very close proximity, including La Cabana de Paco, just across the street, they serve the best paella in town, and the restaurant Miguel Cerdan is also excellent. Another positive is the service at the hotel, everyone was not just efficient but also charming. The rooms were clean, the beds were great, the bathrooms were clean and specious. All the rooms have balconies with great sea views. The breakfast was just amazing, great food and coffee. The only weakness of the hotel is the wi-fi in the rooms but at the reception area they have plenty of computers to access the net. I would definitively recommend the hotel to everyone, and one more thing it was also gay friendly.

Stayed here for 3nights as a last minute trip for some sun - after looking at reviews on tripadvisor in recent months we made our choice! It did not disappoint! The hotel is clean and comfortable.
The location is fantastic - we really did feel that this was the best hotel in the area. The beach is just over a quiet road and includes watersports, and there is plenty to do in the surrounding area. I would recommend a walk up calle san miguel (which is literally on the doorstep) for shops and food.
The pool, although small, is clean and well maintained. There is also a lifeguard.
Sun loungers by the pool are limited, although we always managed to find one at some point throughout the day - the beach is right there so it was never an issue.
All rooms have a sea view.
I would definitely return!

Comfortable room, sleeping with sound of sea waves, perfect big breakfast choice that made me have different breakfast for 10 days in a role, perfect sea view from the room, comfortable free wireless connection in the room, wide choice of cable channels, comfortable beds and pillows ... simply made me feel like at home on a loooong weekend. Is there anything more to add? Helpfull personell, worth recommending this hotel despite beeing more expensive than other hotels nearby ... If you come to Torremolinos, take a hotel on the sea, big advantage to hotels in the town, much better air quality and freshness from the sea makes a difference!
