“Great hotel - Excellent location”
Reviewed 11 July 2014

Just arrived home from a trip to tho hotel and would highly recommend it. Crisp, clean and modern decor, great location across from the beach and close to bars and restaurants, great choice on the buffet, we opted half board and good variety for both breakfast and dinner and breakfast served until 11.00 not 10.00. Lovely sea view from the balcony and lots of mirrors, plugs to enable two women to get ready at the same time :-). We had a problem on our last day and reception had to print e-mails for us, again very helpful and friendly, even gave personal e-mail in case hotel one wouldn't receive the document. All restaurant staff were friendly and spoke quite good English.
Just a couple of negatives, the pool wasn't large, but probably because the beach is opposite and if you want a fun night out you will have to taxi into Benalmadena as this hotel is situated within a family friendly location, but perfect if you holiday as a family.
All in all a great trip that could have been better if we had studied the resort for nightlife.

Room Tip: All rooms have sea views so higher the floor the better

The Melia is in the best location for all the attractions in Torremolinos. Directly across from the beach & only minutes from the centre and all the bars, shops & restaurants. This was our third visit to this hotel, and we would not stay anywhere else in Torremolinos now. It is very clean, with spacious rooms - air con, fridge, free safe & free wifi. Rooms are cleaned daily. Food is amazing with plenty of choice at breakfast & dinner (or you can have lunch instead if you prefer). Restaurant is large & clean with courteous, friendly staff who never seem to stop! The pool is small for the size of hotel, but the beach is directly across the road & the pool itself was never too busy anyway. There are now plenty of sunbeds as a new sitting area was opened while we were there, creating nearly 100 more beds. Brilliant addition. This hotel is mostly suited for adults. There is no daytime entertainment programme & at night it is limited to a keyboard player in the bar. However, we like to wander the shops & bars at night (too hot during the day!) so this was not an issue for us. It does make for an extremely relaxing holiday though, and we would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for the same in a very central but quiet location. Can't wait to go back!

The worst hotel where I was. For me It´s not 4 stars hotel. First day of my stay I could not open door so on reception reloaded my key, second day same problem but reception Staff were very arrogant and did not meet my requirement becauce this room was registred on my friend but voucher on me. Food was good only in Paella I had pieces of something like a shards of shells and it was inedible. When I asked reception that I need print 7 documents so it was big problem for them and they didn´t do it. Next, noise from manual laborers in pool area. Absolutely not 4 stars hotel, maybe very bad 3 stars. Never more this company Melia. Learn from the competition.

Let's get the good things noted. Firstly, check in was pleasant and the hotel and rooms are very clean, no complaints there, 100% satisfaction. But let's get into what was really annoying.

1. The TV had 1 English Channel (BBC World News) and was almost exclusively Spanish
2. Unless you are prepared to get up at 5 am forget getting a subbed
3. There is an 18 euro per day charge for car parking - scandalous!
4. The restaurant is decent value but the staff are not. Terrible service, I asked 3 times for a drink, with the waiter standing at my table in front of me and was ignored, I refused to ask again. His service was rushed and he really didn't care about us at all
5. Our entire evening meal saw us surrounded by dirty tables of uncleared meals.....come on Melia Hotel.....really!

Don't eat in the hotel, straight across the road, directly outside is a wonderful restaurant doing fish, chicken, meat and pasta dishes with excellent friendly service.

Would I go back? No.

They cater for the Spanish marketplace, which is fine, but not for me.

Room Tip: The higher up the better, it's on main strip of Torremolinos!

We chose this property based on its location. Positives: 1) Right across the street from the beach in the middle of town. 2) The room and pool were very clean. 3) Great breakfast buffet. Negatives: 1) a weird beach towel policy. You were charged if you wanted a clean towel. 2) Inconsistent service from the front desk. Some were super helpful and others were not helpful at all. We asked one person to confirm our transfers. They were just uninterested in assisting us.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review of your recent stay with us on TripAdvisor.

We greatly appreciate your feedback and while we are delighted you enjoyed your stay with us , we are sorry that you also had some disappointing comments regarding some receptio issues.

Please rest assured we have taken all your points on board for immediate consideration as this was clearly not up to our usual Melia Hotels International standards.

We have been fortunate to receive many complimentary reviews since the hotel's opening in and I hope we will have the opportunity to welcome you back again for a second visit.

Yours Sincerely

Stayed here three nights with tour group. This hotel is well situated on the road that follows the shoreline. It is a short walk into the center of town or to neighboring Caihuela (which has some very decent restaurants, nice beach and shopping). Our room had an excellent sea view and a comfortable balcony. The room itself was well designed and decorated attractively, including large sofa. Bed was very comfortable. Lots of AC plugs for charging gadgets were available, unlike many other European hotels. Bathroom was spacious and well lit. Room included free wifi and safe. Of particular note is the buffet breakfast, which is superior to almost all other hotels we have stayed at worldwide. Likewise, the buffet dinner, which we had one night, was very impressive, with a wide array of items to accommodate all tastes. Perhaps the one slight drawback is that the pool and surrounding grass area is quite small, but for us it didn't matter. We would gladly return if the occasion arises.

This was our second visit this year, Its a very well run and professional hotel. Its ideal for groups and couples and the maturer traveller. It is ideal for our requirements. I think that for families with younger children would be better suited to a more family oriented hotel (Sol Principe - Which Is A Melia Run Hotel As Well) The breakfast choice is superb and run very efficiently. The pool is fairly small but has a good run of sunbeds on two levels, The seaview from the hotel is superb and the location could not be better. Its close to the town centre (close to lifts) and very handy for a nice walk down the coast to Benalmadena and beyond. The Tram is in the centre of torremolinos but is in easy walking distance. There is a taxi rank outside the hotel (Taxi fares seem to change depending on the weather! i have never had a consistent fare to or from the airport) The Rooms are lovely with a good bathroom, free safe, free wi fi and mini bar.
They are very well cleaned. The Hotel Is Right By The Beach. We are already looking at going back in October for our third stay this year.
