“Winter Break”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 February 2014

Booked a week at the Cervantes in February to escape poor weather at home and were pleasantly surprised by both the hotel and the weather. Although the hotel offers an all inclusive tarrif we opted for half board which was the right choice in so far as it encouraged us to get out and about around the local cafes and bars that were open at this time of year.Food in the hotel was plentiful and of a good standard and although the hotel was busy at the weekend we never had to wait to be seated in the restaurant.Entertainment was only on Friday/Saturday night when the Spanish arrived in numbers however this was not a cause to complain. We made use ot the roof top sun deck & covered pool on 3 days as the temperature reached over 20 degrees but would caution that at busier periods beds may be hard to obtain. That said there is the garden swimming pool as an alternative sun bathing area.Taking into consideration what we paid for this break we considered it to be good value for money and best suited to older couples who are happy to be away from the beach and central to town.

Room Tip: Must book sea view high floor to get sun all day on the balcony.

Booked this trip at the last minute for a short 4 day break, with it being childrens school holidays we paid over the top prices through Thomsons travel agents(All Inclusive). The hotel is in a very good central location, very well maintained and clean. But I think somebody should tell the bar staff people are on holiday and would like to be served with a smile instead of frowns and a please or thank you would be nice it was as if you should not be asking them for drinks(All inclusive drinks come in very small glasses meaning you have to keep going up to the bar every 10 minutes not all English drink to excess so a CHOICE of glass size would be appreciated). The lifts are extremely slow a lot worse in high season I would imagine. The rooms are cleaned daily with maids who are friendly and do a good job.The sauna is open from 1700hrs until 2000hrs.I would say the food is repetitive and just ok.Sleeping is sometimes a problem as you can hear everything next door,ie- toilets flushing and people walking about on tiled floors, also the odd dog outside barking at 6.00 am.

Just returned after having a short break here with my husband, I have to say that the reviews that I read before we left I was a bit anxious. Some people must be very hard to please as this hotel was a very pleasant surprise. Extremely clean, staff pleasant, food was good and the room was lovely (410) Wow what a sea view. The only down side was the bed which was so hard it was like sleeping on a hard floor but as we were only there for 4 nights, we managed. On the whole a very good hotel.

Room Tip: pay the upgrade for sea view and larger rap round balcony, room 410 sun all day and what a sea view

The hotel is large and can be busy but represents a great value break. The rooms are clean and spacious. The staff were friendly and polite. The prices of the drinks at the bar were excellent for a hotel. A bottle of drinkable red house wine only 6 euros.

The restaurant can be manic and you may need to queue. Try and get in early and the restaurant is much quieter. Food choices are good. There is a section of the restauarant making fresh crepes/pizzas/stir fries to order.

Using the local train from the airport to hotel room in less than 5 hours cant be bad from Gatwick door to door.

Room Tip: Pool side views have afternnoon sun.

I went with my partner for a Valentines treat for a long weekend and had a great time at this hotel.

It is very clean and modern and the staff were very friendly and accommodating .

We asked for extra pillows when we first got to the room (only one pillow each) and they arrived very quickly.

It is a very large hotel and was very busy. Our room was on the 7th floor and had a lovely sea view. The bathroom was spotless and had no sign of the usual dodgy plumbing or mouldy shower curtain etc.

The pool area was large and we had no problem getting a sun lounger.

The only problem we had at this hotel was in the restaurant. Because it was so busy we always had to queue to get in. The staff seemed to struggle to replace food, glasses and cutlery quick enough. There always seemed to be a queue or big spaces with no food available. We only stopped on a half board basis and actually went in to town for breakfast one morning because we couldn't be bothered to wait.

Despite this I wouldn't hesitate to go again.

Due to there being a taxi drivers strike at the airport we had to get the train to Torremelinos. What a thoroughly pleasant experience! In around 10 minutes we were transported in comfort on a modern train to the centre of town. There are screens on the train to tell you what the next stop is plus announcements in English as well. Walk up the steps from the station and look left and you can see the hotel. Less than 5 minutes walk away, well worth the €1.75 single fare!!

Visited in January. Happy with the hotel whose staff were friendly and helpful. The food was of good quality and the room was comfortable with a good view from the 8th floor. Enjoyable few days break in Torremolinos.
Malaga is only 20 mins away on the train and well worth a visit.

Our room was above the hotel entrance on the 3rd floor, quite noisy with coaches loading and unloading, although it had a balcony it was overlooked as it was near the corner(inner). Room was spacious with large bed, decor was fine, but with old fashioned square tubed TV. Bathroom was compact with old styled shower over very slippery bath, no bath mats and extremely small bath towel. Hotel is in a great location for Beach, Shops and Restaurants and Train to Airport (only 5 mins). Parking is 15€ per day and 11€ per 24hr for WiFi. Breakfast was OK, coffee dispensed by machine. This should be a 3 Star hotel.

Room Tip: Room 326 a corner suite not the best view nor very private
