“Great hotel”
Reviewed 2 July 2014

This was our second visit to this hotel and as last year we found it most enjoyable. The staff were very helpful, The rooms were always well cleaned
We only went bed and breakfast as we prefer to go out for lunch and dinner. The location was just right for us , being quite close to the trains station; we like to visit other towns wander round the shops and beach areas .

5 ladies ranging from 22-55 have just returned from a 5 day break to the Gran Cervantes, the hotel staff were pleasant and friendly, sometimes the bar service was a bit silly, when 2 of us went to the bar they would not let us get 5 drinks as youre only allowed 2 per person, but if you placed a drink on the table next to you, asked for another drink you got it! madness! not all staff were like that, but some were. The food could be a bit repetative but it was all cooked well, we managed to all get sunbeds together at the 9.00am unlocking of the doors. We stayed at the hotel until about 10.45pm then went in Benalmadena around times square at night where they were a few more bars.
All in all we had a pleasant girlie break and would go back there.

Room Tip: I emailed and asked for a low floor and got it! The views on the roof terrace are fantastic

We stayed at the Cervantes is March 2014. We booked it based on the price and its location....well located in Torremolinos and close to the train station to visit Malaga. We were a little apprehensive having read the reviews; but booked full board as there was little difference between the price for B&B and full board. We couldn't fault the service, the hotel was always clean and in my opinion if you are polite to the staff, they too will treat you with respect.

We had a lovely room with a pool./sea view balcony, which was cleaned every day. Yes, I would agree that there is little sound proofing which is problematic if you are a light sleeper.

We didn't go with the intention of eating in the hotel every night as we appreciate Spain for its amazing food...while Torremolinos has a reputation for Brits abroad, there are plenty of local authentic tapas bars and beatiful seafood restauirants on the seafront. We also got the train to Malaga several times to make the most of the fabulous food offerings in this great city.

For us the food in the evenings wasn't great, but that depends of your prefence. We couldn't fault breakfast though, there was everything you could want to fill up for the day.

I can see how if you spend all your time around the hotel, the loud and disrespectful groups on all inclusive could ruin things, but when we were there they were in the minority and if you get out and about you can avoid them (as well as with a bit of luck with your room allocation!).

All in all ,we had a great holiday and will use this hotel again as a cheap base for exploring Andalucia....the hotel really is what you make of it!

Seven of us stayed here mid June 2014, none of us will be returning. The food was terrible and the bar service was just as bad. Only two drinks per person allowed in the all inclusive deal, only one member of staff on at any one time, when queues built up it was an impossibility to get served.
The train connection was straight from the airport and cost €2.40, journey time about 20 mins, transfere time in a taxi is about 20 mins.
No entertainment on at the hotel that took our fancy.
The pool is small but still gave space to swim.
Plenty of bars and resteraunts in the vicinity to walk to, the beack was down quite a few steps, but there is a lift that is a 10 mins walk away and costs 50c for each journey, just pay the man at the top.
Bananas Beach is nice, drinks at the bar of food on the beach, €8 for two comfy sun beds and a parrasol.

Room Tip: There is a back door that accesses the street via your door key to bars and resteraunts

I was recommended this hotel by my parents who stayed here last September and had a very enjoyable stay.

I'm easily pleased and haven't ever felt the need to complain about a stay in a hotel, but after my stay here I felt the need to.

On arriving at the hotel I was really impressed. The Hotel itself is very modern, airy and spacious. Albeit when you enter your room you would assume that you were in a different hotel. These are very outdated and the beds extremely uncomfortable, although very clean which for me was the main thing.
Our room was overlooking the bull statue and was very noisy during the night, hence not much sleep was had! Also there was an adjoining door to the room next door and the walls are obviously very thin as you could even hear them showering/using the toilet!

The pool area is not open until 9am!! They locked every single door apart from the reception door, to stop people going out to the pool/garden area. Every morning there was a queue of people waiting for the doors to be opened, and once they were opened this created a stampede to the sunbeds!! I have NEVER been to a hotel that has done this and thought it was absolutely pathetic. Also I have NEVER been to a hotel where the cleaners only start cleaning when the hotel visitors are just getting up and going about their daily business. I was shooed around different entrances/exits numerous times by very rude mannered cleaners. Wouldn't it make sense to clean BEFORE people get up? And wouldn't it make sense to open the pool area earlier than 9am so that we aren't all stood in the way of you cleaning!!!? Ridiculous!

The restaurant is clean, spacious and modern. The food was good but a lot of it cold, and I found that they were far too slow to fill up the empty food trays. It took me a week to get a pizza from the grill area as every time I went to get one they had gone, and it was a good 15/20 minutes until they cooked more and put them out. The food was quite repetitive at times too, Pork and Fish the main dishes! Love my fish but it gets a bit monotonous!!

The bar area was an absolute joke at night. One bar was open, yet they have a lovely big bar in the main reception that only opened on a Friday and Saturday night and that was only because the locals came in! EVERY night there was a queue at the bar, everyone stood in a line like school kids. A huge hotel with 800 plus rooms and one small bar is open with 2 people serving extremely slow! Not good enough for a supposed 4 star hotel!! We went out most nights as we could not be bothered with it.

The pool area is not big enough for the size of the hotel. You have to be quick to get a sunbed as soon as they let you out! Also if you leave your towel on your sunbed and are away from it for more than an hour they take your towel off and put it behind the bar!! I was away from my sunbed for all of 20 minutes and came back to a note under my towel stating "Please do not reserve the sunbeds" I was fuming and went straight to reception to complain! We witnessed the pool attendant take a couples towels off their beds, then another couple put their towels down on them which then created an almighty argument between the two couples when they returned back to their beds to find someone else on them!!

All in all I'm very disappointed with my stay here. My parents never had any of these problems last September and actually flew out for a holiday to this hotel last week to meet up with us and they are also quite disappointed.

There are just a few things i.e. locking doors and rude cleaners moaning because you're trying to get a drink whilst they clean, that let this hotel down.

Unfortunately I will not be returning and will not be recommending this hotel.

I was a regular costumer of this hotel but I will never go back.
The hotel is very well located and it's very clean. But the food they serve there is disguting ! We saw the cook sealing a plastic bin without gloves, then walking to the counter to arrange the noodles with his fingers. After that, he went back behind to counter to continue frying the meat ...
The only thing we ate there was the bread in the morning, with jam that we bought in a supermarket.
After 10 days of this terrible food, we have been complaning to the manager. He said that if we don't like the hotel services, we'd better pay and leave. That's what we did.
In the other hand, if you like to drink from morning till evening, that's the place to be. Take the "all inclusive" and start drinking after breakfast, if you ever dare to have one. We have never seen so many drunk people in a hotel.
I go to Torremolinos for 30 years and believe me, there are better and cheaper places.

The hotel is quite good and in a good location for bars and restaurants and beach (via the lift) however the food is terrible , the restaurant is badly organised , you find yourself wandering all over to get your food and drinks ,ie hot water for tea on one table, milk on another , spoons on another , on the other side of the room, and the food is the same , egg and bacon cold , people were queuing to get in the restaurant yet there was empty tables not prepared, very unorganised ,
The bar only ever had one person serving, by the time you got your very small drinks you were having to queue up again, we were all inclusive but found our selfs eating out , shame really as the rest of the hotel is quite good , I recommend go room only

Room Tip: Don't do all inclusive , and use the lift to the beach, also no need for transfers the train is...

Dear Jim,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.

We are very sorry to heard all this little complaints.
Why you didn't talk to us in the moment?. We could resolve all this.
About the food is question of taste, and about restaurant organization it is the standard like in all hotels, (example: the hot water is not in the tables, it's in the big coffee and tea machine).
Next time to talk to us before complaint.

Without further ado, we’re looking fowards to see you soon in our hotel or in any other Hotel Chain.

Regards,

Sergio Robles
