“Will not be back!!!”
Reviewed 9 June 2011

My boyfriend and i went here on the 1st june for a week, and i can say 5 days was enough.. We wer bord outa our heads! The hotel itself cuda been better..

Arrived at check in an was given d worst room ever with the worst view (which i had paid 4 sea view), so went and complained an was shown 2 more diff rooms, one of them was 100 euro extra and the other was no charge, which we just settled for as had bit better view but not wat i paid for.. Fair enough the room was clean and plenty space.. No air condition, but wasn a real problem at this time of the year as got quite cool at nite. The beds are the worst ing i have ever slept on, may as wel have slept on the tiles they where that hard. Had to go and buy a lilo and sleep on it at nite!! Room was cleaned once in our whole stay! 2.50 euro each for a sunbed at the pool every day, which was a rip off when the hotel was so quiet and there where LOADS of empty beds stacked up in a corner!

The staff had real poor english, which wasn much help to us!! Hotel had a hairdresser/beauticians/supermarket/kids club/bar/restaurant/self service laundry all inside the builing which was good. Half of the hotel was closed dwn as there was building goin on in it, so there was no call 4 alram clocks as we were wakend every morning by work men and their drills. One of our days we had no electric, no water ta even shower ( and when it did come bak on the water was brown).

Beds on the beach where 4.50 euro each every day, bt was worth it has was d onli comfy ing had ta lie on all week..

Come evening time there was noting to do,( u had to be in ur 60s or 70s to fit in) full of old ppl, bars wer dead. We done bowling overe in malaga, wen ta 2 shopping centres, went to sea-life and the theme park ( do not go here, waste of muni.. Onli good for children) played mini golf.. Everyting we could ink of ta pass time we wer that scundered..

Overall nice to get away, bt glad to be home aswel. Not for young ones!! And wouldn recommend this hotel either..

Flight was at 7.am from cork , got to spain for 10am local time . got to sol timor appartments for 11am.. Our room wasnt ready until twenty to four in the afternoon which was an absolute joke.. we were wrecked travelling at an early hour and all we wanted to do was have a nap but our room wasnt ready this was a joke.. 4days we stayed here , got no fresh towels in the time of our stay, and had to ring reception 3times for toilet paper before they sent it down,, Smell of sewage outside our room , we were on the ground floor... one day at 5pm we were playing music in our room not too loud and were warned by security turn it down or get out . we bought a small football for the swimming pool and were told we couldnt play with it in the pool, - joke... pints by the pool are a fiver , very expensive... food only average, reception not very helpful at all.. safety deposit box cost 12.50 and on your check out you get 3 euros back.. overall very poor would not reccommend it to be honest....

Room Tip: if you do go here request a high balcony view ...

Just stayed in the Sol Timor and it far exceeded my expectations(bearing in mind the price paid ) . Easy to find,check-in painless and efficient ,we got a free upgrade to an apartment with a bedroom, kitchen, toilet and large lounge(on the 6th floor) with sea views. The Sol Timor are ideally placed being just 2 mins walk to a nice beach and loads of bars/restaurants etc in the immediate vicinity. The room was spotlessly clean with twin beds and a large TV in the lounge. The kitchen was well equipped and clean. The pool area was clean with many sunbeds. The staff were fantastic answering any questions and giving us a free map of the area. All in all great value for money and i wouldn't hesitate in booking this hotel again.

Room Tip: Ask for an upgrade....you may get it !

My partner has stayed here numerous times on "lads weekends" and always had a fab time. I was wary of the rating of only 3 keys as I usually would only stay in a 4* hotel . I was pleasantly suprised with how clean our studio was, thought the side sea view was adequate (especially as we only paid £15ppn) and found the hotel to be in a prime spot right on the beach and close to lots of bars/restaurants. The marina is only a short walk away where you can find up market shops and restaurants with an unbeatable view. Overall, I think the Sol Timor is great value for money, don't expect 5* luxury rooms but I found them to be clean and tidy, even got BBC 1 on the TV ;-)

Room Tip: Book 1 bed apartment not studio for full sea view

Nice clean hotel. Great location. Night staff where very strict could do with being a bit more easy going. No Lilo's, balls or inflatable toys allowed in the pool, so not that great for kids.

Booked the Sol Timor at the last minute and paid 38euros per night for our room which was a studio for 2 people and was excellent value for what we paid. As long as you are not expecting 5 star quality for a 2 star price you will probably not be disappointed. It is in a fantastic location between Torremolinos and Benalmadena so you can walk along the traffic-free promenade either way to experience both resorts. On the way towards Torremolinos (East of the hotel) you go through La Carihuela which used to be a little fishing village and still retains a lot of Spanish charm with its typical quaint tapas bars and small family owned restaurants and shops. Going West from the hotel you come to Puerto Marina the new harbour area of Benalmadena with upmarket bars and shops and expensive yachts and cruisers. So you have the best of both worlds when staying at the Timor Sol. Our room was on 4th floor and our balcony overlooked the pool and the sea which was a lovely view. I guess we just got lucky as some rooms on the other side looked onto the street. The room was basic and the furnishings in the room and in the public areas are old-fahioned and worn, but everywhere was kept spotlessly clean and the staff couldn't be more pleasant. Being honest its probably only achieved its 3 star rating because of the range of facilities on offer - entertainment, bar, restaurant, pool, supermarket etc but I would probably rate it 2-star. We didnt have any meals there, or drink in the bar, as we loved the bars and restaurants in the surrounding area, but there is entertainment in the bar nearly every night if you like that sort of thing and a happy hour from 5pm - 6pm which was popular! If you want a cheap but clean place to lay your head, in a great position on the promenade, then book the Timor Sol - we would recommend it.
