Sol Timor Apartamentos
Ranked #15 of 71 Hotels in Torremolinos
Reviewed 29 October 2009

This review is from a mother and two older daughters. Spent three weeks in Spain, and Torremolinos was one of the stops. Spent a week at the Sol Timor Apartments. We had the two bedroom, ocean front apartment. We decided on this place because of the location and it was large enough where everyone wasn't in everyone's way.

The Sol Timor Apartments are located in a perfect spot. Great beach and there are restaurants throughout the area. This place is not new, nor do the apartments look new.
If that isn't a problem, the location is outstanding. It is within walking distance to the pier. And, the pier is full of nightlife, shops, restaurants, etc.

Across the street, there are plenty of little restaruants with a variety of food. There are several grocery stores within walking distance. (walk to the right as you leave the hotel)

The bus is a short walk away. Go out of the hotel and walk straight up the hill until you get to the main street. It is about four/five blocks uphill.

The boardwalk is between the hotel and beach. If you don't want to ride the bus to the central part of town, walk the boardwalk. It is a beautiful walk and there are stores throughout your walk. As you exit the hotel to the beach, turn left. The pier is to the right.

Prior to booking in at the Sol Timor,, i had read mixed reviews, have got to say I was pleasantly suprised as the hotel was clean, tidy, and the staff were friendly , The location would be hard to beat, even at a more expensive hotel. Sol Timor was right on the beach with great views of the sea and the harbour. The rooms were cleaned every few days or on request if necessary. Yes a little updating could improve the odd loose plug socket but everything worked and the kitchen was fully equipt,, apart from a kettle which you could hire or simply take a travel kettle. The rooms were functional.. no fancy pictures on the wall but who looks at pictures when on holiday.Stayed in a one bedroomapartment ,, plenty of room with a small balcony overlooking the pool. We had requested a higher floor apartment which is what we got .Pool area was kept clean on a daily basis. As mentioned in other reviews there was a charge of 2Euros for a sunbed which was very minimul as that was for all day and ensured people not staying at the hotel would not just come of the beach and take a dip in the pool. Check out time was 12 but on request we were allowed to stay in our room until 4pm at no extra cost. During our stay we had asked for extra pillow and blankets and they arrived very quickly. Did not see much entertainment (although there were various acts advertised)we did not stay in hotel in the evening and it was coming to the end of the season. Overall this is a good hotel..clean and family friendly with a location hard to be beaten and just a short walk to all the shops and bars nearby. Would stay at Sol Timor again as it was good value for money.

these apartments are in a fantastic location sitting on the very edge of the beach with nearly all rooms having a sea view. this is two minutes walk from the stunning marina where there are bars, superb restaurants and an array of shops. staying at sol timor gives you the opportunity to explore both torremolinos and benalmadena. there are several bars on the doorstep, mainly irish themed, and a walk in either direction along the promenade will bring more variety.
the apartments are very clean and roomy but would not harm from modernising. the amenities are good and the pool area is pleasant despite being charged daily for the use of the sunbeds.
the apartments biggest appeal is certainly its location and can be recommended on this basis.

So, by now we now its e2.50 for a sun bed at the pool. just add that to your holiday cost if you want one, or book somewhere else
.Having lived in the area for a few years, the Timor Sol was a seventies build that has done some hard service.
However the location is one of the best in the area, booked via the Sollmelia site direct ,it is cheaper than the other sites and if you ask for a high floor with views of the sea and port when booking in spanish (babelfish if you need to translate) they are some of the best rooms, no there is no kettle, but water boils in a saucepan which there is.
Use the pool at the Sol Aloha Puerta next door,(free sunbeds) one euro a pint at some of the nearby bars fifteen euros for a nice three course meal in a spanish restaurant, plus airport to Torremolinos direct on the train for one euro, then Torremolinos to the hotel next door on the bus and we are talking very bargain price holidays.
The promenade goes all the way to Torremolinos and beyond, nice coffee bars and restaurants on Carihula, (eat in thaEback streets for value with the Spanish)
Hoilday for two, flights via the cheap and not so chearfull, plus a room for two for ten days at £500 for both all in is not expensive in the real world.
The Pez Espada hotel nearby is nice but then again not at this price.

I have just returned from the Sol Timor, with a group of Friends.

The Hotel is excellent Value for Money, in a great Location, with lots of bars and restaurants close bye.

The Hotel has fantastic Facilities, Supermarket, Hairdressers, Laundrette, Cyber Cafe.

The breafast buffett was great, and we all agreed the best fried eggs !!!

I read a lot of nedative comments, and must be from people who booked this, and expected a 5 star hotel, this is a very well prices Hotel, and is what it is.

We shall certainly go back again/

Sol Timor is a averaged sized hotel on near the beach in Torremolinos, Spain. The hotel is situated 10 minutes by car from malaga airport and getting a taxi is very easy to do.
The description of the room was for our room; Twin room (2 single beds)
The hotel rooms are actually small appartments with a main room, a bathroom and a kitchen. the kitchen is equipt with 2 electric rings, a fridge and a microwave as well as cutlery and crokery but no pans. there is also a sink for washing up but the soap and sponge aren't provided (neither was a bottle opener)
The bathroom is equipt with a bath/shower, a toilet and a sink. the towels are changed every too days but cannot be taken out of the room, so not to the beach of the pool.
The main room had a wardrobe, beds, tv, table and chairs and a storages cupboard.
There was also a small balcony with an amazing view; see poictures

The hotel its self was fairly quiet but our visit was in low season! in the hotel there is
-Reception open 24/7
-Supermarket
-Laundrette
-Hair Salon
-Kids club
-pool side bar with drinks and snacks
-buffet style restaurant
-Pool and Childrens pool
-Entertainment in the evening

The area is has alot of english bars and restaurants so most of the people in the area speak english

Where do i start , we got a ground floor cell and believe me i have worked within the prison environment so i know what i am talking about . the room was tiny the kitchen could not fit two people in it and its door was hanging off contents two rings and a micro wave so you had too fry most things , and as for the balcony it was too small as well . try to avoid the ground floor cells as you get the odd waft of sour age plus everyone throws all their ciggy butts and general rubbish down from all the floors above which seemed to attract cock roaches we saw them running up the wall and had too keep our windows shut .the beds were on six plastic legs and wobbled about quite a bit. avoid all the beach bars for food ,although they where OK to buy drink in .we found two places that where good for food the Spanish gardens a bit dear and you have to book but very good.also the rose and crown great for breakfast lunch and dinner , and cheap enough bit shabby but the food was great . i liked walking up towards Carihuela , it was almost like this is what you could have won , all Germans staying there and as we all know they do not accept poor standards. hence to say no Germans in Timor . my friends mother and father have a place in Turkey , we thought Spain would be better . what a shocker we got truly aw full it looks like they have given up and are just going through the motions . should have went to turkey it has put me off Spain for life .
