This is our 7th stay here. Yes, it is getting a bit tired & does need refurbished but it ticks all the boxes for a good holiday ie good location & cheap. All the staff are friendly & efficient.

We usually got a room on the 10/11 floor, block 3 but this year were given a better room on the 5th floor, block 2, with better views looking over the pool, Med & Marina.
Towels changed every other day & beds changed every 4th. Kitchen is fine for making a sandwich at lunch time. Overall, the studio room is fine as you are only sleeping there & not cooking a 3 cource meal.

Hired a fan for 15 Euros for a fortnight (20 E deposit).

Sun beds are 5 E for 2 which makes it expensive for 2 weeks but there is plenty of room to lie on the grass on towels or lilo's.

Agree with Rodins re Southern Irish singing sectarian songs. Highly offensive. We must have been there the same week. Saying that, it is rare for that to happen.

Good choice of restaurants/bars outside the apartments.

Took a taxi into Torremolinos for 6 E as the buses were packed. Walked back along the promenade.

OK so this hotel is not the height of luxury. We paid around £300 for two of us for a week away which can't really be argued with. The room was spacious and clean, there is no air con but we had an easterly facing room so was quite cool in the evening anyway, plus we hired a fan which was only 10 euro for the week (plue 20e deposit). We stayed on the 9th floor which I was a but dubious about but I'm glad we did as we had a view across the sea and beyond and it was beautiful. The kitchen is tiny but it has a fridge a couple of hobs (only one worked) and cupboard space which is all you really need on holiday. There isnt a kettle but there is a tea pot which doesnt take long to boil on the hob so I don't know why people complain, how much tea do you honestly need to drink on holiday anyway? Only bad thing about the 9th floor is the shower pressure is crap. The head of our shower was broke on the day of arrival but when we came back from a day out on the second day it was replaced and didnt fall off the wall anymore! Staying high up was not a problem here as there are 3 lifts. The beds were uncomfortable but not unbearable.
The location of the hotel is great, it has a lovely swimming pool and is just across the promenade to the beach. Sunbeds are expensive both at the hotel and on the beach but if you dont want to pay just lie on the grass or the sand. We spent one whole day on the beach with sunbeds that were really comfortable and I had a better sleep on them than the hotel bed! It is also right at the end of Torremolinos so you have the benefits of being able to go to Torremolinos or take a very short stroll into Benalmadena harbour which is lovely. Only negative side of the hotel is the happy hour 5-6pm, note to self never ask for 2 drinks in happy hour as they give you four, when you just wanted 2 and to pay for one! The reason I say happy hour is negative is because there are a LOT of Irish people staying in Torremolinos (lots of Irish bars) and lots of them (not all of course) see this as an opportunity to get really drunk too early and sing sectarian songs at the top of their voices which is both irritating and highly offensive.

Overall this is a good hotel for a cheap and cheerful holiday and the location gives you great access to most of the Costa del Sol, we also took day trips to Malaga and Gibraltar and thoroughly enjoyed them. If you're looking for a day out with a difference visit Parque de la Bateria, its a fairly short (uphill) walk to a quiet park overlooking Torremolinos and the med and there is a man made beautiful blue lake there with rowing boats which you can take out for half an hour for just 1e. We also visited Aqualand which was quite fun aswell. Would definitely go back, never realised how beautiful the Costa del Sol was until this trip.

The Sol Timor, as you can see from the photos is not only right on the beach but its also a 2 min walk from the gorgeous Benalmadena marina and town. The center Torramalinos itself is about a 15 mins walk (or 5mins on the bus) but there a good strip down to San Miguel street (Although we did find it a little dissapointing when we got there, the bars closer to home were much nicer) You will deffaintly not be short of places to eat and drink.. there are loads to pick from. The mexican right outside the front tof the hotel is deff worth a visit. The Hotel was spotless... no coakroaches and despite having no airconditioning we found that there was a lovely breeze by leaving the balcony doors open! Didnt have any problems with noise as the closest bar is a few min walk away. Studios are totally livable size but if you are worried about this upgrade to an appartment, although i wouldnt pay the extra.. its not like you go on holiday to sit in the room anyway. Towels were changed ever 2 days and beds every 4. We were on the 4th floor which was lovely and had amazing views of the pool and beach. There isnt anything I can fault about this hotel.. or the holiday!

This was a last minute holiday and couldn't be happier. Perfectly situated, out the front door an array of bars and rstaurants, through the gates near the pool, straight onto the beach. Rooms are basic but all we needed was a bed to sleep in and a shower. About 5 English channels on the TV (including BBC1). We didn't feel the need to hire an air conditioning fan, left the balcony door open at night, no sign of any mozzies! Weather was mid 80's throughout the week. Took us a couple of nights to find the perfect bar but found it 200 yards up the road! Come out the hotel, turn left and you've got 'Full House'. Karen and Steve are your hosts, Open every night bar saturday, things 'kick off' around 9.30. There's bingo (good payout) a picture quiz (a good head scratcher) a couple of Blockbuster type quizzes and 3 rounds of 'Play Your Cards Right' which if it isn't won rollsover to the following night (over 300 Euro in the kitty on our last night so worth a go!) John Smiths, Tetley and Carling available. Steve's got an array of music played between activities to cater for all tastes. When the night is finished it's only a 200 yard stagger back to the hotel!

OK so it' s not the Aloha Puerto but was better than I expected for the money. Location and view was all you can ask for. We were self catering and there are loads of places to eat without having to walk too far. The shop on the ground floor is no dearer than the ones outside and in some cases cheaper. Room was clean and we had a great view. The telly even had BBC1.
Only negatives were 10 euros to hire a kettle and 10 euros to hire a noisy fan . I would have rather paid a bit more for air conditioning as we really needed it.
All in all very good value for money so I think we will go back

WARNING - NO AIRCON IN THIS HOTEL but you'd ignor it as I did from last years conveniently deleted reviews! The hotel is a time-warp back to 80's & 90's but todays prices. No aircon is a disgrace at 96 Euros a night. Had to sleep on balcony for 4 nights. Local teens use the pool area and sun beds after 4pm (that disgracefully you have to pay 2.50) till it goes dark then they brazenly leave. If you're a non-smoker STEER CLEAR because you will be in the minority both in and around the hotel and walking around. For a 'suite' the room was narrow and depressing. It is 95% Spanish large families of minimum 2-3 kids under 2yrs. Like being in a Kindergarten. Never again.

Having stayed here last year we thought we knew what to expect when we arrived. Alas all is not well in the Timor Sol and speaking to lots of people who have went there for donkeys years they felt the same. the hotel has cut its evening entertainment and raised the prices in the oven like bar. last year we seldom left the hotel the entertainment was excellent and having young kids was perfect for us. This time the only show they had on was for the younger kids and in Spanish, one man said to me they are trying to get the Irish out of the aprts, If this is the plan they have certainly succeeded where I am concerned, I was willing to put up with no A/C and shabby bathrooms but being treated like a second class guest is a bridge too far. The area outside the hotel is very quiet some of the bars are good but again lacking in custom. I think the location for the beach is second to none but Im afraid its just not enough for this dinosaur.
