“Not the ritz but for the price was fine!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 September 2013

Arrived on Wednesday stayed 5 nights all inclusive but to be honest as long as I managed to
Get something for breakfast I could cope.. As we like to eat out in evening!
So breakfast varied from
Morning to morning I am a fussy eater but managed with cereals or toast or ham n cheese toastie, there is a variety of other stuff but just not to my taste! Lunch well lets just say I managed a bread roll.. Lol... But sure what do u expect.. We managed fine with the beer was pretty good so for all inclusive all we really wanted was free drink.. After 5 tho they did snacks at the pool bar these were good burgers, toasties, pizzas these were good to be fair being from
Northern Ireland we enjoy our fast food!
Can't comment on dinner as we didn't eat dinner!
Rooms nice views good size a little worn but hey I didn't pay ritz prices! Bed sheets were changed daily towels etc cleaning was very good!
Front desk staff very helpful tho pool bar people very grumpy they must have forgot we are there for a good time after all is out holiday!
Transfer time nice and short and it may be in a closed down area but 10 mins to the beach and night times were quiet to sleep!
Overall I'd say it isn't 4 but definately a 3 a reasonably priced stay for a short break or up to 7 nights... Definately would go back, no major complaints! As the saying goes you get what you pay for and id say I'd def give this hotel 7 out of 10!

My family and I spent a week in the Hotel Royal Al Andalus from 30th August-6th September. The hotel was only 15 minutes taxi ride from Malaga airport. On arrival, the hotel was well presented, we checked in straight away with friendly staff at 9pm and went to the restaurant immediately.

Restaurant:
The dining room is basic but very clean. There is an excellent selection of cold salads, breads, cold meats and cheeses and a smaller selection of hot foods in the evening. Everything is very edible and tasty and replaced frequently. the food is very Spanish so there isn't a lot of English choice. There is plenty of fresh meat and fish. the desserts are very Spanish with a lovely selection of fresh melon and ice cream. Tip - get a table near the hot food to see when the chef replenishes. Breakfast was fabulous with fresh melon, cold meats and cheeses, freshly fried pancakes everyday. There was a good selection of conserves including Nutella. Toast machine was very efficient. Bean to cup coffee machine was amazing with a good selection of hot drinks. Hot food at breakfast was very edible with ham and cheese toasties, scrambles eggs, bacon, beans, potatoes, tomatoes, churros & french toast. In the morning there was also a choice of 4 cereals and cold milk, also a good selection of dried fruit.

Pool
The pool area is absolutely beautiful with a very large pool with a deep end nearly 3m deep. Surrounding the pool is lovely spacious green gardens where people put their sun beds if they didn't want to be as close to the pool. There was plenty of sun beds so you didn't have to reserve them with towels early in the morning. Everybody staying there was Spanish, we were the only English family. The pool has a bar serving drinks, ice cream and hot food. Past 3.00pm the pool gets a lot of shade due to where the hotel sits. The grass is watered so it isn't hard under your feet. There are activities for children and adults that aren't pushed in your face, games include water polo, aqua aerobics, mikado and darts. Music is played around the pool which inst very loud, but the same CD of 15 songs was played constantly so it got a bit repetitive.

Entertainment
The entertainment was at 22:00 every night, acts include singers, the circus, a magician and a reptile show which were all very good. At the bar you could have cold drinks, hot drinks, smoothies and cocktails.

Rooms
The hotel has 6 floors, request a pool view which also looks over the sea and is fabulous. The hotel inside is very clean with marble floors but perhaps a little bit tired. there are two lifts which are quite small and can only fit four people in so it is a bit tight. The hotel rooms were painted orange and were very basic and cleaned daily. The fridge was free so it was handy to put drinks in. Also, English tv was available. There was also a safe available but you had to pay for it. One of the beds kept squeaking at night time and there was a leak in the roof which was immediately fixed. The air conditioning at night time was a bit loud but didn't keep you awake. The bathroom was lovely with 2 sinks and clean water, lovely hot water from the shbath. Clean towels everyday.

Area:
It is a shame some of the bars and cafes surrounding the hotel are closed making the area a bit rough. Only 400m to the beach, the beach had the most comfortable sun beds for 5 euro each, the sand was a bit gritty and not golden but still nice, the sea was lovely and warm but a bit choppy on some days. Next to the beach is a beautiful strip of shops, bars and restaurants which we spent most evenings at. The strip made the holiday. You could get the bus right outside the hotel, only 1 euro 80 to go to Malaga and 1 euro 60 to go to the market in Fuengirola.

Overall, a very good holiday which we thoroughly enjoyed. The hotel may not meet every bodies 4* expectations but you must consider the price. It is outstanding value!

Room Tip: Choose a hotel room with a pool and sea view on the higher floor so you can see over the other build...

Quite nice place to spend a few days, but unfortunately receptionists always are trying do book their worst rooms. If you want to have comfortable vacations DO NOT agree on the any room on first floor. If they say there are no other rooms just call the manager. The rest is quite good, but it is not most comfortable hotel in Torremolinos. It's very hard to park car. But every evening there is a dancing (for children and adults) every evening. Not bad...but not extraordinary.

Room Tip: Just fight not to get room on first floor. There are ALWAYS free roms in other location. In case of...

Misfortune of staying here for two nights last weekend and seriously question the 4* rating of this hotel.

Location; on the road to nowhere - area is awful, a long walk from centre of town and an even longer stretching road full of boarded up cafes, bingo halls, restaurants and garages. The 500meters from the beach is questionable!

Reception; peak weekend but only ever 1 person on reception – day or night. Took me about 20mins to check in. I found the staff stuffy and rude. Asked for a sea view room but was given a room with a view of the car park and the apartments opposite (see pics)

Bar & lounge: feels like you’re sitting in an airport departure lounge, rows and rows of seats everyone on wifi – not an ounce of atmosphere!

Hallways; shabby, stained carpets – from 7pm the smell of food from the restaurant fills every floor/corridor.

Bedroom; one of the worst rooms i’ve ever slept in. Okay in floor space/size but feels claustrophobic due to the low ceiling and dark painted walls. No wallpaper, aertex - chipped and painted orange not a single picture on any of the walls. Stained carpet and unpleasant smell. (see pics)

Bathroom: shower over bath with fixed glass shower door so had to get in bath to turn taps on, no plug to run a bath and when i found one the shower and bath ran at the same time. Tap water was dirty and cloudy, and when settled had a distinct yellow/brown colour (see pics)

Pool area: hijacked by games, and there’s no chance of a sunbed unless you’re down there at the crack of dawn, loud music means no peace and quiet.

very, very disappointing!

Room Tip: find somewhere else!

We have just returned from a 10 night stay at this hotel. After reading reviews on here we were a bit nervous, though had opted to go room only as we like going out and about to different restaurants when we are on holiday. So we cannot comment on the food. When we first checked in it was late (2am ish) and our holiday hadn't got off to the best start as the car park was full so we had to park up a side street about a 5 minute walk away. If you do hire a car while staying here, be aware that parking is an issue!! In the car park and on all of the streets around the hotel. However, we got lucky most days and managed to eventually get a space in the car park.

We were given a room on the ground floor overlooking the car park which we were not happy with, the room itself was fine but not the view we were hoping for so we complained and were switched to a room on the 5th floor overlooking the pool and sea. Fantastic view! The room was lovely and kept very clean. We had an issue with a leak in the bathroom behind the toilet but was dealt with and mended immediately.

The pool was lovely and it wasn't majorly busy around the pool side though it was a bit of a nightmare to get a sunbed most days as people insisted on reserving their sun beds at 7 in the morning or something, same everywhere though isn't it. So annoying!! We preferred to go down to the beach anyway.

All in all we had a fabulous holiday and the hotel is in a good spot to access the beachfront and all of the shops and restaurants there, plus you are within travelling distance of places of interest like Aqualand, Crocodile Park etc. Its definetly worth a visit to the cable cars in Benalmadena too; what a view!!!

Would stay there again for sure!

This hotel was a great surprise for me. I was almost cancelled the booking starting 16 july after reading the reviews on here, thinking we will die of hungry. So happy I didn't do this. We got a very nice huge room, overlooking the pool and with a splendid sea view. We had only a pillow for each, and my husband put something under it for the first night. The second day the roommaid sow this and bring another pillow for him. The bed were very good, we had a good sleep on our stay. Also the hotel is quite.
The pool is very good to swim, it has 2,65 m deep in the deeper part. The garden is very well kept, a large green park with palm trees and lots of sunbeds.
Now about the food. Definatly, if you are a meat eater you should choose only room or breackfast. They have a kind of mediteraneean diet.
Breackfast is the usual one, with ham and salamy, natur cheese, cheese, tomatos, eggs(this missed a day or two) beens, even some cooked potatos that I didn't sow untill now on breackfast, dry fruites, pastry, gem, fresh fruites. The coffe also good for a machine.
At dinner, we got fish every day, grilled somon twice in our stay, sea fruits salad almost every day, "gambas" a couple of times, paella every day, at least 3-4 start salads every night, deserts and 3-4 kind of fresh fruites. Also, every night they had a small bufet with jamon and camembert cheese. We liked the food, it was fresh well cooked.
For 93 euros with dinner in the second part of july, I think this hotel was best deal.
I let you pictures with my room to see what a great view we had. We would recomand this hotel.

Room Tip: We had room 552 very nice with pool and sea view, and no sun after 2 o'clock.

Stayed here for 1 night to break up a 6 hour car journey. I can honestly say this is the worst 4 star hotel I have ever encountered.

Greeted by rude, obnoxious reception staff who allocated us a room overlooking the staff entrances, with a view to the bins. Complained and was moved. Room seemed fine until we woke in the morning to find a cockroach above the mirror. It did a circuit of the room and crawled back through the air-con vent from which I assume it came from.

Staff at the pool bar were foul mannered. Drinks were ridiculously over-priced. The hot food was very poor...cold, bland, frozen fish dishes....virtually unedible (cold food was nice and fresh though). Waiters in restaurant were downright ignorant.

Please do not think I am the type that doesn't appreciate Spanish food or culture, I actually live in Spain and was travelling back home. The disrespect my wife and I were shown by the staff was appalling and I can only assume this hotel is anti-British.

Nor am I a moaner...I have never written a review about a hotel before, but this was a particularly bad experience. If I had booked for longer than 1 night, I would have demanded a refund and left....do not stay here!

On balance, the only good I can say is the decor and grounds were lovely, obviously the money has been spent here, rather than on staff training or management.
