Read the reviews and thought that the food couldnt really be that bad, could it? .. We were wrong!
Fantastic small hotel, great staff, so very very clean and in a peach of a position. However the food was grim. We were not ill or anything like that it’s just that the poor quality of food and the whole way of doing the buffet was poor. You have to find your own table, find your own cutlery, it’s very cramped and a little dangerous when people are carrying their own hot coffee. We are not fussy eaters by any means but the choice was so very poor. Finding a tomato was rare (this is Spain after all !) I don’t count the tomato puree served at breakfast which was left over from the previous nights shift in the Pizzeria as tomatoes for breakfast! Not that it’s the end of the world but there was no toaster, they toast the rolls possibly from the previous evening and serve them hot (and hard) as part of the buffet. The staff clearing the tables were not able to cope with the throughput of people, not that they were lazy they just appeared one person short on every shift, in the bar likewise. We were forced to eat out several evenings and even on a couple of mornings for breakfasts which was so disappointing (something we have never felt the need to do before, ever). On the plus side the coffee was good as was the fruit juice the rest of the food was forgettable at best and dinner was even worse. The pool area is nice and apart from the food we had a great time, maid service in the room was fine and our room was great. It’s a real shame as I will NOT now return to this hotel (unless they offer a room only basis at a sensible cost in the future) which as I say has so much going for it, we visit the area twice per year and we chose the Tarik as we wanted something smaller with a more Spanish feel to it and the Tarik was certainly no cheaper than several hotels we have stayed in where the food was very very considerably better.
