“Fantastic location, so clean yet food huge let down.”
Reviewed 19 September 2011

Read the reviews and thought that the food couldnt really be that bad, could it? .. We were wrong!
Fantastic small hotel, great staff, so very very clean and in a peach of a position. However the food was grim. We were not ill or anything like that it’s just that the poor quality of food and the whole way of doing the buffet was poor. You have to find your own table, find your own cutlery, it’s very cramped and a little dangerous when people are carrying their own hot coffee. We are not fussy eaters by any means but the choice was so very poor. Finding a tomato was rare (this is Spain after all !) I don’t count the tomato puree served at breakfast which was left over from the previous nights shift in the Pizzeria as tomatoes for breakfast! Not that it’s the end of the world but there was no toaster, they toast the rolls possibly from the previous evening and serve them hot (and hard) as part of the buffet. The staff clearing the tables were not able to cope with the throughput of people, not that they were lazy they just appeared one person short on every shift, in the bar likewise. We were forced to eat out several evenings and even on a couple of mornings for breakfasts which was so disappointing (something we have never felt the need to do before, ever). On the plus side the coffee was good as was the fruit juice the rest of the food was forgettable at best and dinner was even worse. The pool area is nice and apart from the food we had a great time, maid service in the room was fine and our room was great. It’s a real shame as I will NOT now return to this hotel (unless they offer a room only basis at a sensible cost in the future) which as I say has so much going for it, we visit the area twice per year and we chose the Tarik as we wanted something smaller with a more Spanish feel to it and the Tarik was certainly no cheaper than several hotels we have stayed in where the food was very very considerably better.

Room Tip: Top floor rooms have a better view (Some sea and some over the bar next door) and be sure to specify...

Hotel was average but the location was great. Literally across the street from the beach where umbrellas and chairs were for rent. The hotel also had a pool in the courtyard that was refreshing after being on the beach. The room was average size for Europe( which means smallish) and clean. Our room had a balcony with a view of the Mediterranean Sea. Our plan included the breakfast and dinner buffet at the hotel. Breakfast was OK, but the dinner buffet was awful. I would advise eating elsewhere for dinner. There are so many places places to eat all around the hotel. The outside patio/bar area was a lovely place to have a drink and watch the people stroll by during the evening.

have just returrned from a weeks stay at the Tarik, and have to say the hotel well exceeded our expectations, the staff were friendly and helpful, everywhere was clean and the food was very good. Don't be put off by negative reviews.

We loved the andalusian style hotel, seemed recently renovated and staff was friendly. We had a big and very clean room with flat TV and a balcony facing the pool and sea, just as I requested and imagined. You could fall asleep listening to ocean waves and wake up to bird singing. I had my binoculars with me so I even spotted dolphins out in the sea from my balcony! Hotel is in a great location, lots of things to see and no noisy bars around. Also a SPAR for grocery shopping next door. Breakfast was OK, though I would have liked some salad, tomatoes etc. with buns, bacon & eggs. Nice view to the sunrise from restaurant.
I also recommend to try the local train to neighbour cities, Fuengirola and Malaga only 20 mins away and the ticket costs 1,55 €.

Room Tip: Ask a room from top floor, more sunshine there

Great value, very friendly, and good facilities. This is a great base for Torremolinos and surrounded by fabulous restaurants and bars. It is nice and quiet as it is outside the nigh-club zone in town. Would definitely return.
