“Nice hotel let down by food”
Reviewed 13 January 2014 via mobile

The hotel was lovely, very clean and modern. Service was great, rooms large. The main negative was the food; having sittings was very regimented and the buffet dinner was hit and miss in quality. The indoor pool was nice, although it would benefit from being heated and having longer opening times as it closed at 6pm.

We spent a week at the hotel at the end of November. The hotel delivered on all levels making it a superb holiday. Rooms are very spacious with bathroom with lovely large walk in shower. All areas are light, modern and airy. The food was superb, buffet style with a vast array of dishes which changed on a daily basis. All staff we came into contact with were extremely pleasant and helpful. The position of the hotel was ideal, on the seafront with easy walking in either direction .
Would definitely consider returning in the future.

This hotel exceeded expectations, recently refurbished very modern rooms - comfortable beds, nice shower room with large walk in shower and spotlessly clean.
Location - Torremolinos was a very nice surprise, an endless promenade which runs practically to Malaga in one direction and a 10 minute walk to Benalmadena Marina in the other direction. Our favourite area was Carihuela which was very typically Spanish with some nice bars and just 10 minute walk away.
The train station (El Pinillo) is just a 15 minute walk behind the hotel, slightly uphill but easy walk with trains every 20 minutes to Fuengirola, Malaga Airport and Malaga City, all around 2 Euro's each way.
Food - Excellent breakfast - English breakfast, American breakfast, Salads, cereals etc.
Evening meal - First or second sitting with table allocated for duration of stay. Average soups and salads, show cooking for main course all very good and excellent desserts.
Drinks prices were slightly high but probably comparable to any other 4* hotels.
The assistant manager is always on hand in the restaurant in the evening to make sure you are happy with your stay and to report any issues you may have which is a nice touch; would return !

I have used Hotels in the Riu chain since 2000, to the extent that I have spent every Xmas and New year for the last 7 years, my stays are for a minimum of 3 months and some years I do this 3 times a year, Xmas , May and Sept.
This is my first stay at this hotel over the Xmas due to the closure of my usual Hotels over this period, location is great the Hotel at first glance is typical Riu Hotel, But the standard of service is not as good as the other hotels for example
.
1 No flowers and wine in the room
2 the food on the live cooking counter is not up to standard, the meat is tough and on Xmas dinner the lamb cutlets and the Iberian pork was un eatable due to the tough ness the baked salmon had bee left to keep warm and had dried out.
The Staff as usual are great reception, housekeeping and dining however I wonder does this Hotel have any management.
Apart from arriving I have not seen a senior manager. and there does not appear to be a director on site.
I am disappointed because I expected more being used to fabulous service typical of the RIU group

Room Tip: all rooms have a partial sea view my preference would be a room on the west side in the main buildin...

The Riu Nautilus is now a Thomsom Platinum Hotel and it certainly shows, I loved the Ambiance of the the place and the soft Pastel Lilac & Silver Grey Colour Scheme throughout, a Bonus is that it is also an Adults only Hotel, The staff are a credit to the Company and nothing is to much trouble for them, the Hotel Manager is always Present should you wish to speak with him also the Assistant Manager walks round the Dining Room each Evening & introduces himself to all new Guests, The Food at Breakfast was very good & the Evening Meal was the usual Hotel Mass Catering (something I am personally not very fond off as you can probably tell) you are allocated one night per stay in the A la carte section of the Restaurant - which is Nice but not really a proper A la carte (they are just paying lip service to it with only 3 Main Course choices available and no choice for dessert they just put warm Berry Compot & ice cream in front of you - even though menu says there is a choice non is available - an issue that needs addressing.
The other couple of issues I have regarding the Hotel are the Annex Rooms which are allocated to most British Guest - they have no Sun on the Balconies at all any time of the day. and my final gripe which would seriously make me consider not returning is the cost of wifi in your Room is 20 Euros week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you have to buy a ticket from a machine in reception for this and it only enables 1 device - Surley Not acceptable for a 4* Platinum Hotel - you can however get 45 mins free wifi in reception each day but this has to be taken all in one session. All in All I love the Hotel & Location but the Balconey & Wifi issues would stop me from returning when there are so many other nice places offering these thing of charge in the same Area. One other thing I was not so keen on was being allocated a sitting for Dinner 6.00pm or 7.45pm I prefer to choose when I what time I want to eat when I am on Holiday and not be told when I have to Dine - and they like most people to be on the first sitting which we found to be a little early.
