“well worth a visit.”
Reviewed 12 June 2014

Very nice hotel well appointed on the front right by the sea, easy access to both the promenade and the beach.Staff very friendly and helpful, everywhere spotless. The two sittings for the evening meal was no problem they catered for everyone's personal choice very well. The food in the restaraunt was quite good plenty of choice for everyone,to be a little bit pickey the same fish was on on the salad bar nearly every night, some British sausages would have been nice at breakfast time.Would I go back to this hotel most definitely met some lovely people including a couple from Austria plus quite a few from all parts of the u.k.

Room Tip: Try to book the central area of the hotel

Just returned from a weeks visit to celebrate "she who must be obeyed" big 50..what a fabulous place. As per previous comments the hotel was re-fitted a short time ago. Modern colours, beautiful spacious rooms and fabulous gardens,a real must visit for that special occasion. Every member off staff were a credit to the Riu. Nothing was too much trouble. Rooms cleaned to an immaculate standard, food plentiful, well presented, and beautifully cooked. A special thanks to the waiters and waitresses that made my wives visit to the A la carte restaurant (definitely not to be missed) a fabulous experience. I should not forget Juan the assistant hotel manager (boy he puts some hours in) his warm greeting to every guest was so genuine and much appreciated. Thank you everyone we shall return and if your to visit soon you are one lucky beggar...Enjoy

Room Tip: Every room gives comfort and space...what more do you need?

Javier is in charge of Reception and what a more superb helpful and cheery front of house person you will not meet.
The hotel was renovated 2 yrs ago from top to bottom and front to back it is in pristine condition still, the colour schemes are bold and bright. All the staff are helpful and cheerful. The location is superb as it fronts onto the promenade with it's many restaurants, bars and shops.
This was our 3rd year in the resort and we will be back next year to the Nautilus. 6 stars!!!

Bang on the promenade and within ten minutes walk of the Benalmadena marina, this fine hotel is in the perfect location. Our room was spacious and clean as was the whole hotel. Our only gripe was the evening buffet dinner (ok for what it was but we're not buffet fans) so we ate out most nights. I'd certainly return.

We visited the hotel twice before in May and October 2012. So here goes with another review.
ROOM
We asked for a room in the main hotel so we were given 107 on the first floor. The room was lovely but it was right next to the fire escape and the kitchens so you could here the noise from the fans so we went straight back to reception and said we weren't happy. They gave us room 150 in the annexe which was ok. It was on the first floor and overlooked the road and across was the nine storey block of the Hotel Sol Timor. We thought there might have been a lot of noise but it wasn't too bad. It was cleaned every day to a high standard and if you wanted clean towels you just left them on the floor. If you wanted the sheets changing you just left a card on the bed so the maid could see it.
STAFF
The staff were lovely in all areas, but one or two of the male waiters in the dining room could have been a bit more friendly.
POOL AREA
Since the refurbishment the pool area is quite good. The only thing is the sunbeds are a bit regimented and close together. The towel brigade were out in full force before the sun was up. There were notices around not to reserve sunbeds but there was nobody around to put it in force. Sad to say I was one of the towel brigade but as my husband uses a mobility scooter I had to pick a spot where he had room to move around the sunbed.
TOWELS
We were disappointed to find that they were still using the towels from years ago which were thin and tatty. One of the pool towels that I got was not even fit to mop the floor with.
FOOD
Two years ago the food was outstanding. Not this time. We didn't think that there was as much choice at the evening meal. The breakfasts were fine and nothing to complain there.
ENTERTAINMENT
We didn't stay in the hotel for the entertainment at night.
BAR PRICES
These were expensive. A large beer was 3euro 45, vodka or bacardi and coke was 6euro 10.
OVERALL
We enjoyed the holiday, the weather was excellent. We won't be returning and one or two couples we spoke to said the same thing.

We had a lovely holiday at the beginning of May, perfect weather, and as usual the Hotel really came up to and exceeded our usual expectations.
We think there should be some signs requesting clients not to leave food out for the wild cats. This could attract vermin, is unsightly, and probably stops the said cats from catching any vermin around, because they have already eaten.

Room Tip: They are all good.
