“A place to avoid - bedbugs”
Reviewed 10 October 2011

I spent 8 nights with my best friend at Apartamentos Bajondillo in the begining of October 2011. The whole experience was a bit of a nightmare. First, the room we've got wasn't anywhere as good and comfortable as advertised. We stayed in an apartment, badly decorated with old furniture. The size of the apartment itself was very good but the facilities were not exactly ideal. The kitchen was poorly equiped and we didn't have any of the coffee/tea making equipment that was advertised. The TV had a good variety of channels if you're a German speaker, if not, you'll be flicking from BBC News to Sky News all the time. On top of that, I hadn't seen a TV that small for years. The balcony had a plastic table and couple of chairs. To be honest we didn't use it as all the other balconies were facing us and only about 30ft away. Needless to say we had to keep the curtains closed all the time. And you'll be very lucky if you get a huge balcony as they show on the websites as only a few apartments have them. The wifi signal was weak and we could only get it from the kitchen, it was useless in the lounge and bedroom. The pool was of a good size but in the shade after 1500. Not much space around it and the sunloungers are free but if you want a mattress be prepared to pay 3 euros.

It all got even worse after the second night when I woke up with 43 bedbug bites all over my body. The reception was quick in giving us another apartment (identical to the previous one). They never offered help on moving our stuff or apologised. Well, we never even got a smile from the reception staff to be honest. The only friendly staff were the pool lifeguard and the manager (Miguel), who after a complaint, left us off the late check out fee and reimbursed the money I spent on antihistamines and creams.

The hotel's location is very good. Just a few yards from the beach and only a short walk away from the town centre and restaurants, supermarket, etc.

If I ever go back to Torremolinos I'll definitely avoid this place.

Room Tip: Just don't go there.

when you take a selfcaterng holiday the least you expect is a kettle,a toaster or a microwave, but in these apartment there was none of the above, and only to be told they do not hire them out either. The transport organised is a joke, we located a rep. of bravo tours who told us to go to stop 43 which we did and got on the bus, some 15 mins later another couple arrived. another 20 mins passed and no sign of anybody else so I asked the driver who was standing outside talkinghow long more we would be waiting he said there were 12 more passengers due and did not know how long more we would have to wait. Aththis point we got off the bus with our luggage and got a taxi which cost 23 euro., Some 2 hours later we saw the bus letting off the passengers???? while we were waiting for our studio which we got some 3 hours after arriving at the hotel. The room we were allocated was on the 6th floor having requested the 2nd floor.when we got our studio it was smelling of urine as was part of the seating in the lobby.we had to upgrade as we could not sleep there and the upgrade cost 314 euro's for six nights and this apt. had only one big window with an iron gate outside it and the window /door could not be left onep at night because fear ot cats coming into the room. We definitely will not be going back to those conditions.

Room Tip: do not go there

My wife and I have been staying at the Bajondillo Apartments once or twice a year for the last half dozen years. Aside from the exceptional value rates, being conveniently located driectly across the street from the beach and a short walk from the attractions along the Paseo in Cariihuela were an added bonus. The staff have alays been helpful and friendly. Nightly entertainment in the hotel bar presents the opportunity to meet other guests- many of whom are repeat visitors- in a friendly atmosphere. The room furnishings might be slightly dated; but they are clean and well maintained, with limited kitchen facilities and a balcony that overlooks the beach. Finally, the availability of a free hotel/airport transfer service adds to the overall package. We cannot fault the Bajondillo. In fact, weahve already made a two week booking for next Spring.

Myself and my girlfriend were after somewhere cheap, close to a beach and not far from the airport for a short 3 night break. We came across Torremolinos and seemed to have a lot of accommodation to choose from. We decided on apartments for the self-catering aspect and went for the 'cheap and cheerful' Bajondillo. We'd heard it was a bit basic and dated but the location seemed perfect. The free transfers were a big bonus too.
We had a slight problem with the transfer on arrival because we were expecting a man holding a particular sign but were actually looking for a woman with something completely different! However upon contacting Bajondillo we managed to locate the transfer and they were very courteous and apologetic so this was no problem in the end.
The studio was clean and spacious. The kitchen area was very basic but we werent planning to do a lot of cooking anyway. The bathroom was clean and nice and yes the furniture and the tv was dated but we really didnt care.
We had a side on view of the beach which was just over the road. Brilliant location. I'd recommend a front facing apartment though. We then came across our next hiccup which was the fridge which smelt like death!!
We told reception and they got it sorted pretty quickly with a smile.
After that we were able to enjoy the really nice beaches and there is a great selection of restaurants along the promenade, especially if you like your seafood! We didn't eat in the Bajondillo restaurant but it seemed nice enough and the pool area and gardens were all very pleasant. The staff were courteous and helpful but not overly warm, but again, we had everything we needed for a short break.
I'd also recommend the 10/15 stroll right, towards La Carihuela which has more of a wider selection of restaurants.
The transfer back to the airport was no problem and overall we enjoyed our stay at Bajondillo.
We picked it due to the Trip Advisor reviews and good rates, now i'm returning the favour!
Cheers!

Room Tip: Front facing offers exceptional views.

This is the second time we have stayed at the Bajondillo even though the occasions have been ten years apart, these apartments are just as good as we remembered. We stayed for two weeks in June/July as two couples in two apartments, our special requests of pool view and high floor were given to us and what a view we had we could see the pool from our balconies but we could also see the beach the sea and all the way along the coast to Malaga and beyond.
The apartments are clean and comfortable and quite spacious for two people with regular linen change and clean towels everyday, the only downside is a very small "kitchen" which is just a sink and two rings plus a small fridge but this is fine for us as we took our own kettle and toaster and we eat out for everything other than breakfast.
We had a lovely balcony and from this you could watch the evening entertainment whilst having a drink which would be ideal if you have children in bed
The apartments are very central, as the beach is on the doorstep there are bars and restuarants all along the promenade , La carruehela which is an original Spanish fishing village is just around the headland with loads of shops, bars and all types of restuarants. There is a lift up the hill to San Miguel Street aat a cost of 50cents and this runs to midnight so it is easy to get up to the train station and the shops etc of Torremolinos and there is also a really cheap Spanish supermarket in the square just over the road from the lift so it is not far to carry the shopping. The trains from the centre of Torremolinos are cheap clean and run on ime and are very regular you can go to Malaga one way and Benalmadena, Fuenguerola the other, it is easy to get a bus to the very Spanish village of Mijas and there is a good market in Fuenguerola. If you enjoy sightseeing it is easy to get to Granada and the Alhambra Palace, Seville or Gibralter from here so I think this place caters for everyone whatever type of holiday you enjoy.

Room Tip: Always ask for a pool view and e mail in advance reinforcing the request

After one night we decided that we felt like travelling a bit further.

Reservation for the remainder of the week (already paid) was cancelled and refunded with a friendly smil, uo to level of the in-room-save.

That's what I call customer service!

The hotel is right in the middle of T'os, including all the night life enterntainment in the courtyard. Be aware of this when looking for a week of rest and early nights ;)

Rooms and hotel in general feels bit 70's, which is fun in a way.
Some of the bathrooms have been redecorated; well done and clean.

Complimentary airport shuttle works good, do confirm in advance. Taxi can run into € 18 on a monday morning.
