my friend and i have just spent a week at the pez espada, and we could not fault the hotel,it was maybe a bit tired in some places but considering the age of the property it is to be expected.food was good plenty to choose from,in a good position. If i were too improve on anything it would be the entertainment,it would have been nice to have had a bit of music to maybe dance to before and especially after the acts.As it was everybody disappeared about 10 30 - 11 00 because there was nothing going on.A little tip it is worth paying a little extra for a garden view on the sunny side of the hotel,eg 112-119 all rooms with a 1 in the middle of the number seem to be good rooms.

Room Tip: as i said above the garden views seem to be the best rooms.

The Pez Espada is in a great location and a grand spacious hotel with character, but next year so my wife & I told going to be refurbished, I hope they don't spoil it as with some other hotels in the same area.
The staff are a credit to the hotel, always on hand to help, food good plenty of choice, you wont loose weight. The rooms are a bit of a gamble, we paid extra for a garden view, but most have a garden view, some though, ours never got an sun which is located on the R/H side looking out to sea.So if you want sun go on the L/H side overlooking yes the garden plus the pool area.we could have changed rooms but jaded after journey, could not be bothered and only staying just over a week. The room was nice plenty of room clean had good view over the pool & garden, the only problem we did have is with the safe, it kept loosing our code to open it [ the management will know who we are?] every other day we had to get someone to open it for us, being accused of not knowing how to operate it, but we have a electronic safe in our home so familiar how to operate them.
However as said the staff were great, we will return to Torremolinos again and stay at the Pez, a great place to stay.

Room Tip: Already mentioned in report.

Been back a week from our holiday in pez espada.
Firstly the best thing about the hotel is its location. A short walk to benalmadina and torremolinos the other direction. We were with my 5 yr old who walked miles with us every day and loved the walks.
The decor is a little dated but fine for us. Was clean and spacious. Our room was also OK though got no sun, the opposite rooms had it all day but we were told they only had twin rooms on that side and no family rooms.

The pools were all cold and the indoor one was cold though we didn't expect outdoor pools to be warm enough this time of year.

Staff were all nice, not massively happy but not grumpy either.

The hotel is more for older people and there was nothing for our five yr old but we knew that and sometimes prefer a quiet hotel as we are out most of the day and like to relax when we are back. Our daughter made friends with a few of the older guests who were very friendly and complimented her good behaviour.

Food was same as most hotels though we loved having pots of coffee and tea on our table for breakfast. Beats queuing

Overall happy with my choice

Just spent a week there with daughter and 12 yr old granddaughter. Public rooms very pleasant and very clean, staff friendly, food good and drinks very reasonable. Rooms clean and bedding changed daily. No entertainment for young ones day or night though. Onl;y problem was hotel rooms on 6th floor which was ok except that there was a large window with 2 outward opening windows opening out onto a 6 floor drop, had to lean out to close window, no lock on window so nothing to keep children from opening it. I asked if we could be moved but reception said no vacant rooms til the day of departure. Also it was too cold to use outdoor pools but the advertised indoor pool down in basement was not clean. There was sand or grit on the bottom and leaves floating on top. Round the sides where the water mark was there was a 6" grubby grey line on the tiles. I asked if it was safe to use and when it was last cleaned ,they said they would check but it wasn't cleaned until 3 days later when they cleaned the outdoor pools as the weather improved . We enjoyed the holiday but if I had younger children with me I would have refused those rooms as very unsafe.

Room Tip: ask for rooms facing pool area they have decent balconies and NO windows, just patio doors.

My wife, daughter (2 years old) and I stayed here last week (16th - 23rd) for a week. The hotel is great and we really enjoyed our stay. It is a little way from the centre but that fitted well with us. The food was excellent and the choice was great. We enjoyed the bar at the hotel where the drinks are reasonably priced. The down sides are that the beds where far too hard and I found my sides going numb at night meaning I had to keep on turning over and so not sleeping too well. Also the service in the restaurant was not that great. I often felt I was putting the staff out when needing a high chair or drink. Despite this we would return in the future.

Currently stopping here at the moment. Hotel location is excellent. The hotel itself is a little tired in places but that isn't really an issue particularly when it is due a refurbishment later in the year. What lets it down is the food. Breakfast is fine but the evening meal is disappointing with a very small choice of mains and as the week goes on more and more dishes are just a rehash of leftovers from earlier meals. It is hard to believe that this is a sister hotel of the Riviera where both the choice and quality of food puts here to shame.
