This was the second time that my wife and I have been to the Pez Espada. Both times were great. The hotel is well situated with easy access to the prom. Its approx. 12 miles long and flat which is great for those who can't cope with hills. The staff are great and very friendly. The hotel is very clean. The food is OK its a good selection, buffet breakfast and dinner. My parents have been to this hotel many times and it used to do a lot more of the local style dishes but to many British people complained that they did not get to have there meat and two veg dishes. and so sadly they changed what they served. Lucky while we stayed this time they did a Andulacian evening which was great. The bedrooms are clean but the only downside with them is that they are all single beds and thus you have to be carful that you don't fall down the middle (if you know what I mean). The hotel ground are well kept and the pool is a good size. I heard that they are in the process of getting ready for a refurbishment which in some ways it could do with as the paint is peeling on some areas on the outside and the furniture although in good condition looks as though its stuck in the 70's. Having said all that I would still recommend the hotel as it has many more positives than negatives.
Stayed at this hotel from 11th to 22nd may 2014 ,with my wife we found the reception & ground floor area very appealing .We had room 1312 which overlooked the swimming pool & gardens, the room & bathroom was very clean but very dated (needs refurbishing) ,The food was first class with plenty of variety to eat & breakfast & dinner. The staff were very friendly & helpful,This was your first time to the Pez Espada but will return as the hotel has everything one needs for a relaxed holiday.
The last time my wife and I were at this hotel was in a winter and it threw it down for 6 of the 7 days we were in Torremolinos so we had to come back in what we thought would be a better month. Well we got that part right and our original thoughts on Pez Espada were also right, a lovely hotel, well run and great location. We couldn't fault most things, it was clean, the staff were great and overall we would say to anyone who wanted to visit Torremolinos that this hotel was a good choice. But there is a but, and its the only one worth mentioning as far as I could see.
The food, although well cooked and presented, never seemed to vary the choice seems almost the same everyday and I do realise with so many different nationalities it is a difficult problem to please everyone. My wife and I always found things to eat and the staff, as with the rest of the hotel, were magnificent, just the choice was rather bland from a British point of view. Other than that the Pez Espada exceeded all expectations and a special mention for Vee the Thomson rep.
This time around no rain just blistering sunshine, a busy but not too busy prom and relaxed atmosphere made for a great holiday and we would love to visit once again as we know what to expect on the food department. As for other details, the rooms were comfortable, we overlooked the pool, cleaned well and although only 1 tv channel for us Brits we were not around long enough to bother with the tv. So thank you Pez Espada and even though the weather is out of your control we have been at your establishment in both good and bad weather and the hotel has excelled on both occasions.
This hotel has a lot in its favour in terms of location, food, cleanliness and its staff. Yes it does need new carpets in the bedrooms and a bit of money spent on refurbishment but all in all it does offer good value for money.
We have stayed here many times and we love it. Our only criticism is about the way in which Luis the head waiter speaks to some of the older clients.........its time the Manager had a word with him and replaced him with one of the other members from the dining room staff, all of whom are superb.
Myself and my partner, 45 and 47, stayed at the Pez Espada 2nd - 9th May 2014. Had Room 316 ( Garden view room) which was absolutely spotless ( big credit to the housekeepers.) First time at the Pez Espada (having previously been to the Sol Don's Pablo/Marco/Pedro previously at the other end of Torremolinos.) Loved it, loved it, loved it. The staff were amazing from reception to Maitre D, waiters, barmen/(and women!) in Frankies Bar and Bar Mediterraneo ( big up to Geronimo in Bar Mediterraneo.) Food was excellent, entertainment was very good ( Gordon Williams singer, Daniel Danielo (Magician) very good. The location of this hotel is excellent. Vee the Thomson Rep was very good/useful information/trips etc. I would say the only criticism of this hotel was that even in May NOT ENOUGH SUN BEDS AROUND THE POOL. You need more sunbeds, I'm glad we were early season and not peak season as there would be no loungers left at all. We agree that yes, the rooms could do with a lick of paint, but hey ho, its just a room to sleep and shower in... the beach was fabulous. We didn't know before booking that most of the residents were quite (ahem) somewhat older than us, but we enjoyed it !
We absolutely loved this place and will be making a return, we can see why people go back year after year. Dining room very well organised, no hassle, good idea with the waiters bringing the tea and coffee pots to your table every morning. Thank you to all the Pez Espada staff for a wonderful experience - we will be back.!
