“great hotel and staff”
Reviewed 19 July 2011

after reading the reviews we tried to change our hotel before we left however we had to make do so arrived at hotel about 10.30 am to be met and greated by really cheerful and friendly staff given the key to room 183 asked for a safe key 20EURO deposit fully refundable we never asked for a room upgrade so we were delighted to find our room was the end one on the landing overlooking the beach and the pool there was different entertainment every night in the main bar but being smokers we did not use it much we sat in the smoke area just outside we opted for the second dinner service 20.45 so you dont have to hunt for a table ours was 66 and it was there and ready for us each night walk out of the hotel and turn right up the hill and 15 minutes walk brings you to the train station 4.50 euros in the ticket machine gets you 2 return tickets to fuengirola and the zoo great day out for smokers we bought 10 sleaves of superkings 35 euros each next day they were 37.50 2 years ago tobacco was 38.50 this year its 67.50 for a 10 pack DO NOT wait till you get to the airport its a rip off 87.50 had a great day out in gibralter well worth a visit if only for the apes only one gripe the food was varied and tasty but often cold but there is a microwave so get your potatoes first if cold microwave them enjoy your holiday

We are a coulpe in our fifties and love our holiday to be of a high standard now we can afford four star /five hotel as our family are grown up
we read the reviews on trip advisor and were really worried on the negative reviews and considered cancelling. so glad we did'nt because found that the people writing them in our opinion would not be happy about any holiday.
First the staff EXCELLANT they were pleasant helpful and really good at their job all the time pleasant cheerfull and making sure you were happy with everything.

Next the food varied and tasteful in fact it was hard not to be greedy and over eat Full Breakfast in dining room 8 till ten thirty
continental breakfast in pool resturant 11 till 12.30
kunch in dining roon 1 till 2.30
pool bar lunch 2 till 3.30
afternoon tea 4.30
dinner two siting one at 7pm and the other 8.45 which we were given the choice and went for the second sitting food was plentiful and tasty

reviews stated that the wine was awful well i had quite FEW GLASSES OF THE RED WINE and had no complaints lol
the drink machines around the hotel were great because it meant there was no queing at the bar during the day these provided wine beer fruit juice soft drinks tea and coffee and water

Yes the drinks in the bar which opens at 6pm was local but we founfd it ok if the cocktail are a bit weak well if you having one say that it has vodka well we just ordered a staight vodka and topped the cocktail up lovely lol. litre bottled water was also provided at the bar
we found the hotel spotless the cleaners really know how to do their job

As for the thin walls in the bedrooms WE FOUND THIS REVIEW TO BE WRONG
WE NEVER HEARD A SOUND
ALL I CAN SAY IF YOUR GOING TO REVIEW A HOTEL BE HONEST NOT A GROUCH

Felt I needed to put this review on here to say what a wonderful hotel this is. We arrived there and had a welcome drink as soon as we arrived which was very welcoming. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful and spoke good English.

The hotel was very clean and the cleaner was very good leaving several animal shaped towels each day for us.

The food was very tasty and of good quality. There was pleanty to chose from including several meats, salads, pastas, puddings, soups and the list goes on and on !!!

Our room was just fab and the views from the balcony were out of this world you could see every angle going. Room number 443 it was on the corner.

The drinks are also enjoyable too and will be looking at other Riu hotels in the future.

The best thing about this hotel is the friendly and ever helpful staff. The rooms are thoroughly cleaned every day and in good condition. The food is varied and plentiful and of a good standard. The pool is also nice although there were a LOT of kids in both pools so not ideal if you actually fancy a swim! Get the train from Malaga airport to Torremolinos then youre 7 euros in a taxi to the hotel. The train costs just over a euro. All in all, my friend and I had a great time here and would definitely recommend it! Only criticism...dont count on the entertainment at night cos as the other reviews suggest...its pretty dire!

i never write about my holidays but i feel this place has been given a bit of a rough ride on here so far and i feel its a little uncalled for
i have to admit i paniced at first reading the revues before our visit, and although there is a few minor problems here this place is still a quality all inclusive hotel, i feel the food was of a great standard with plenty of choice. rooms are clean and well kept.
entertainment was poor here tho if you wanted to be involved with any of the day times games where in the past you are encouraged to join in this is not the case infact we didnt even no they had an animation team till day 3, evening entertainment was also not the best a man and a keyboard on one night wasnt the most thrilling and i have to admit it really does get busy, if you are second sitting at dinner your not gonna get a seat.
germans are germans we all no how they behave so why be suprised when you meet a few rude ones, the hotel wasnt full of them and be firm but fair they soon stay away and leave you alone.
the staff where fantastic they couldnt do enough for you so the talk of rude staff again is just a persons bad experience.
my overall veiw is this place is a great all inclusive hotel, and i can see the worry of the people who visited the half board hotel, standards will be different but that isnt just here that is across the board. enjoy you holiday if you have booked here.

Our party of five have just returned from the Belplaya and have had a great time.
Our ages ranged from the thirties to the sixties and all of us thought the food, drinks, staff and rooms were brilliant. All the negative reviews must have been going to a different hotel as this hotel had almost everything you could wish for.
The staff were very friendly and helpful and spoke good English, the food was very varied and of excellent quality with the chefs cooking in front of you, drinks were of good quality and large measures, the rooms were cleaned everyday with a great touch of the towels left in various shapes of animals etc.
I was worried by the previous comments on this site before going on holiday but thank goodness they were totally wrong.
Even the entertainment was far better than expected with various acts including Spanish dancers and a magician etc.
Also take the the reviews about the Germans and being over 65 as not correct. The age range was very broad and all were catered for and seemed to enjoying it like ourselves.
