I stayed at this Hotel during the last week of September. This hotel was in a great location, for shops, bars, restaurants and the train station was a 5 minute walk away. (1.70euro single from the airport to Torremolinos which was an 8 minute journey, don't bother with transfers). Yes this hotels is still living in the 60/70's, however our room was clean, new towels daily and bedding changed 3 times. The one thing that let's this hotel down is the food, cold meats for breakfast (which doesn't bother me as i'm abroad, if I wanted a Full English I would stay in the UK) and the one evening meal we had was warm food, but bland! However there are so so many restaurants close by, that we ate out anyway and was very cheap.

Tip: 1) Don't book this hotel if you have stayed in 4*/5* hotels in the past and unfortunately you are unable to switch off from this.
2) You don't want to be central with noise around.
3) You want Half Board or B&B of a high standard.

This hotel is a budget hotel and I have stayed in luxury 4/5* hotels, but for the price we paid for a 'cheap week away' we got just what thought.

I would stay here again, simply due to location, price and friendly staff.

Enjoyed our second visit to this hotel, Some of the staff remembered us, But one new member of staff was very rude. Nothing much had changed food was palatable bedrooms were very clean. Only down side was it was very noisy through the night, the sun beds on the roof terrace need replaced and the lack of a balcony was sorely missed.

Room Tip: Only 3 balconies in this hotel so request one when booking (not guaranteed to get one though)

This was the most awful week I have ever had, cold breakfast every morning.
Dinner each evening was just as bad pork and fish every evening, and guess what one evening
we had chicken it was hardly even cooked on the outside it was so bad I became ill.
The bed clothes were not changed once all week this hotel does not even have a swimming pool
the bar had no bar staff and when I did manage to get one of the kitchen staff it was the most rotten pint of beer i have ever tasted I walked out and left it avoid this awful shambles at all cost.

Room Tip: avoid hotel at all cost 99% of rooms are all single beds

If this was a three star hotel, it was rated some time ago. We stayed for 5 nights; some good points include basic room and cleanish. The staff were nice and the location was excellent. Bad points; none of the windows (2) locked at all, easily opened from the outside, as we were on the first floor this was a little concerning. The safe (which you have to pay for) didn't work, first they did not have enough safe keys, then the keys didn't work, then the safe was declared broken - no offer of a new room. The beds were uncomfortable and one was particularly noisy, expecting a double we got two singles that we had to push together. There was only 2 plug sockets in the room, 1 of them would not work unless we held the plug in the wall. The tv was small, and included a charge for use of the remote control, we did not use it. The wifi in the hotel is only on the 4th floor bar area. The fittings in the bathroom felt like they were about to fall off the wall. The shower was poor at best, water came out like a broken hose pipe. By far the worst was the toilet brush, originally white, it was black with dirt - disgusting. The breakfast (paid for) was continental (poor selection) and basic. I would not stay there again, yes it was fairly cheap but really pay the extra and go elsewhere. Friends stayed at another three star hotel which was so much better and not much more money. Beware!

Room Tip: Go elsewhere!

Just back from a week here with my partner. Its a very basic no frills hotel. No balcony or view (looked onto another room). Shower wasnt great. Cracked tile on floor (fixed) and our safe didnt work (used reception safe no problem).

Breakfast was rubbish. It did not cater for all guests and who eats cheese and chopped pork for breaky! Dinner was good. Nice selection and fresh.

Staff were lovely and the hotel was very central for everything. No pool but we went to the beach which was ten mins away and a nice walk albeit down loads of stairs but you can get the lift.

Hotel kristal is ok if your looking for a base but if you like extras and comforts then this is not the place for you.

....but dont expect anything more.
We stayed in the hotel for one night on our way to Gibraltar. We arrived late afternoon and we were greated by the receptionist who was very friendly and helpful and explained our stay in detail.
The hotel is bang on in the middle of everything.

Pos:
Great centre location
Air con in room
5 min walk from Torremolinos train station
5-10 mins walk to gay nightlife
5 mins walk to restaurants and tavernas
Above shopping area(on negatives as well)

Negs:
As it was above all the shops we were awake early in the morning around 8-9am from all the shops opening and we woke up at around 4-5 am when people (who obviously had a drink or two) were returning to their hotels.
Very basic breakfast, continental with ham, cheese, bread, immitation cereals and an orange juice that would never know what a fresh orange looks like. It was from a machine and it was more like an orange squash. As i have worked in the hotel industry before i know that a hotel that respects itself should have at least an orange juice from a carton if not fresh. Its those little things that make breakfast the best meal of the day.
Decor dated in both the rooms and breakfast room.
One socket (i know its a minor thing to look at but in our days with all the gudgets and phones you need more than one plug)
Plastic cups in bathroom for guests to drink water etc. Its a no no for me.
Cigarette buds outside the window clearly missed by the housekeepers.
Beds clean but matresses a bit hard.

I give 3 for the service as the receptionist and the breakfast lady were very polite and friendly.
Value 4 as it is in a great location and is cheap.
Overall i couldnt be really harsh with the hotel as the location is excellent if thats what you are looking for but i wouldnt stay for more than a weekend.

Poor choice of food, insects in the room, problems with the internet, loud clients of the restaraunt in the same building and 15 (!) minutes to the beach. Don't you ever go here if you don't want to spoil your vacation!
