Booked this £250 pp full board. Read the reviews and was a little apprehensive but it was absolutely fabalous. Rooms clean, staff friendly and me and my partner loved the food. The choice was great. Approx 25% of british people staying there - the rest were european. Beach is across the road. We walked into Benelmadena and back 5 times. This was a long walk but enjoyable in the sun and we stopped off in the bars on the way. Queen Vic pub next door (welsh) who served real chips and their peppercorn sauce was lush.

We booked this as a last minute break. We have stayed in the Playa Mar area before as it is lovely. The Hotel is clean and tidy, but the staff are miserable. We were on the top floor (floor 10) which is quite a way up. Would not recommend this floor if you have children with you. It was early in the season, but the hotel was so dead. Nothing made me want to spend any time in the hotel bar or restuarant. We booked B&B and we were staying 4 nights. We had breakfast once. It was ok, but nothing exciting. Much easier to eat at one of the local bars for breakfast. Location of the hotel is brilliant for the beach and resort. We arrived around 11.00pm on the Saturday evening and returning home at 6.00pm on the Wednesday. We asked if we could have a courtesy room as we had to check out at 10.00am on the Wednesday, but we were told no. I asked again and they said we could use the showers by the pool!! We could have a room for 25 euros. I argued the point we only wanted it for a few hours extra and they were charging us more for the extra hours than it was to stay per night! What is most odd is that they said they were fully booked so they could not offer a courtesy room, but I could pay to keep the room on................ What was also extremely annoying is that we paid for the room on the Tuesday and when we went back to the room on the Wednesday afternoon the key card had been cancelled so we had to go all the way down from the 10th floor to ask them to recharge the key. Also I had put the sign on in the morning for the room to be made up as we were still there and we needed fresh towels, and the maid must have been in as she changed the room sign but the beds were left unmade and our old towels still in the bath. I am still trying to understand what we paid 25 euros for.

The hotel's guests were mainly spainish, of the older generation. As I said earlier the setting is nice, pool area not that large, and I certainly would not want to spend my main summer holiday at this hotel in the height of the season.

The resort is lovely, and only a 20 minute stroll along the sea front. Lots of bars and restuarants along the way. It is a really pleasant walk.

Near enough next door to the hotel is the Vic Bar, we banged on their door when we arrived late and they opened up and let us have a few drinks, which was lovely and very kind of them. We didnt get the chance to get bar there before we left, but do pop in and have a drink with them. Very friendly from Wales.

I cant remember the name of the restuarant, but if you walk out of the hotel through the swimming pool area and walk towards the sea there is a little clothes shop on your right and next door is a lovely restuarant. We had our breakfast there in mornings, and a bite at lunchtime and a few evening meals. Very good food, plenty of choice and a lovely view of the sea. Do visit. The little man who was there all the time reminded us of Freddie Starr!

We will defintely be back to Costa Del Sol. We saw some lovely hotels along the front, but we will not return to this one. Not the happiest and inviting place I have been.

We had wonderful weather, not the norm apparently for this time of year (29 March-2nd April) but we were on the beach every day. Chilly in the evenings, need a cardigan/jumper. Hope this review helps.

STAFF: very helpful, friendly

GUESTS: mostly Spanish families

ROOM: more than 3*, spotless, all room pool view (some of them sea view too)

FOOD: weaknes of the hotel
OK, this is a 3* hotel, but ...
Bad points:
1. there isn't cucumber, tomato... etc. for breakfast
2. no mustard for sausages
3 no lemon or lemon juice for the tea
4. awful scrambled eggs
5.cheap cheese
6.tough meat
7.cheap ice cream
Of course You won't starve! (seafood, delicious cakes, lots of fruits)

Booked online with Thomas Cook but found out later that it was actually a subsiduary company who arranged? our week stay. Flexibletrips arranged for us to stay at the Parasol Garden in Playamar. Lots of niggling problems, £30 for inflight meals which we had to pay for again from Monarch Airlines, having to wait for an hour for the transfer to the hotel, erratic maid service, no breakfast first day, coffee machine broken first day, no English speaking guests in hotel (spanish, russian, polish predominantly), staff spoke no English apart from the friendly reception, no rep contact at all, no reply from the rep contact number, had to pay for transfer back to airport.
Sorry, I hate to criticise but there was a catalogue of poorly organised with regards to the holiday and hotel and we can normally put up with anything but in this instant it really was a poor holiday.
Right on to the hotel itself,
Nice, clean, 100yrds from the beach, food and service poor, lack of staff in the restaurant, lack of food in the restaurant, be prepared to jump for any food on offer as the guests don't know how to que, dive in with the rest of them and don't worry about jumping in, they didn't. Plumbing atrocious, showers boiling or freezing no in between, taps constantly dripped. One English speaking channel, CNN, on the TV. All rooms look onto the pool, view of all the surrounding apartments, nothing else. Noisy at night with Spanish entertainment and of course Bingo (en Espanola).

The only good thing about the place was the Victoria Inn next door where we ate along with quite a few other hotel guests. Not a place I would recommend for English speakers unless you wanted to polish up in other languages.

I did however show them how to shoot! 48/50 with an air rifle in the grounds, yup an air rifle! (.177) and they also had archery and darts competitions next to the sun loungers. Lots of poolside rules but non of them adhered too.

i dont care what anyone says, the food at this hotel was rubbish, we are all 18 and will eat just about anything, but not when its cold and its the same rubbish being served every night! the staff at reception were good, but when we asked why some were cheeky with us they said it was because we are english!!! all the entertainment was in spanish aswell. Pool area lovely always spotless, rooms were kept clean. Hotel v clean, just wouldnt reccomend it to under 25's or english familys. Hotel right on beach and only cost 5 euro to get to the centre. Nice english bar next door (the victoria inn) that does some decent grub.

Myself and my partner stayed at this hotel for a fortnight half board. I admit i was a little sceptical before booking this hotel after seeing all the bad press about food as we were half board. But it was only an extra £30 each for half board as opposed to going self catering. So we thought this was the best option. If the food was crap we didnt have to eat in every night, but breakfast covered the £30 extra each anyway.

What a good idea it was. We only ate out twice in the 2 weeks - once on a saturday night and then on the last night. The food was fine, honestly. Breakfast was great. You could have a cooked breakfast, croissants, pan au chocolates, a variety of ceriels, yoghurts, tea, coffee, and juices (admittedly the juices were pretty awful). And yes there was the cheese, ham, salami option for breakfast but it aint the UK and its catered for all europeans not just us Brits. Dinner was fine as well. Wide selection of meats, vegetables, salads, pasta and fish was available as well as rolls, breads and soup. So whats wrong with that? Wasn't gormet admittedly and there wasn't chips, sausages and pies everyday but its Spain! It catered for all needs.

The hotel itself was lovely. A very modest 3 star in my opinion. Quite a posh foyet and a lovely pool area. Rooms are very clean and effective air con and nice balcony. Only thing is - no fridge or coffee making facilities. This would have put the icing on the cake for a lovely holiday. 2 mins to the beach and bars and 15-20mins walk to city centre. NB: its a lot quicker walking the back streets to San Miguel square. On route stop at the Bus Stop Bar with Sue and Alan. Lovely cheap place with a very very friendly service. We had a great holiday
