“Great hostel, definitely stay here if you visit Granada!”
Reviewed 25 August 2013 via mobile

From the moment we arrived I was impressed with this hostel. Andrew (I think his name was, kiwi guy) made us feel very welcome, even carried my heavy bag to the 3rd floor where my fiance and I stayed in a private room with private bathroom. It did not feel like a hostel, more like a hotel, the room was very clean and spacious, good air conditioning. Only downside was that wifi didn't work in our room but did in the common room so that was fine. Kitchen was a decent size, very modern hang out area and a little courtyard that got the sun. The people that worked there were friendly and approachable and gave us good ideas of things to do in granada. Hostel was a 5 min walk from cathedral, very central. would definitely stay here again!

Thanks for your positive review, Rachael. I have passed on your great feedback to Andrew and yes he is our resident Kiwi. It is not a surprise that our staff are rated as the best in Granada. We are proud that you totally enjoyed your stay and the El Granado service. We apologise for the issues you had on the top floor in your room with the WI FI. We recently upgraded our system and have routers on each floor and there were some teething problems to begin with particularly on the top floors.

This was the second time that I stayed at El Granado and it was as beautiful as the first, so much so that I extended my stay by another five days. The hostel is a peaceful oasis situated in a quiet street but very close by to everything in Granada by foot. As soon as you enter you walk through a sunlit courtyard with a fountain that leads to the modern kitchen and common room. Everything is impeccably clean and the beds are very comfortable. The atmosphere is very relaxed and you will feel that you have all the time in the world to explore Granada. El Granado is the best hostel I've stayed at and I would recommend any traveller looking for a unique experience to stay there.

Anna it was great to have you back again. So many of our guests keep on coming back every year which we all really enjoy. Also muchas gracias for saying that El Granado is the best hostel you have ever stayed at. That makes all our hard effort worth it. We hope to see you back again soon.

During our city trip in Granada we stayed at this apartment for 2 days. It is a bit difficult to find in all those narrow streets and also parking is difficult but the owner is very helpful and one can basically park in a nearby (app. 300m) parking garage for 10 euros a day.
Our apartment was spacious and very clean. The room was situated on ground level but it still was very quit. The beds were very good and the room was nicely cool.
Our stay was including breakfast and it was a “strange” but very nice experience when we found out that we had to create our breakfast ourselves. There are lots of things one can get in order to enjoy a good breakfast and one can take whatever one wants. Just don’t forget to clean the dishes afterwards….. .
The owner, a Swedish guy, is very friendly and always around and willing to help with whatever question you might have. The apartment is located very centrally; one can walk to the Cathedral and the old town in just 10 minutes. Public transport is also very good reachable.
El Granado provides perfect value for money and we would definitely recommend the place for staying once you are in Granada. If we ever visit Granada again we for sure will return to El Granado.

Room Tip: Be careful with parking on the street of the hotel; you will get fined

Maurice it was lovely having you stay with us. Our ground floor studio apartment is perfect for couples, a small family or a small group of friends. We pride ourselves on the quality of our beds and fittings which are all Scandinavian. The El Granado breakfast is a wholesome continental of cereals, breads, meat, cheese and of course coffee. The breakfast room/ common area is also a great place to meet other travellers and make new friends.

We took the 'penthouse' apartment (top floor apartment) which was absolutely perfect for us. We are a young married couple with a baby and it was the perfect set-up.
First of all, the rooms are immaculate--clean and tidy as can be. There is cutlery in the kitchen, a washer, a refrigerator + freezer, and a comfortable breakfast table. The bedroom is spacious and the closet is huge. It is closed off with a fabric partition so we put our little guy in there and it was perfect (airy and comfortable for him, but blocked the light from entering and waking him up in the morning). Bathroom was clean and comfortable.

Location is excellent.

The best part of the experience: Freddy (the owner) + Nicolas (one of the employees) were amazing!! I spoke with Nicolas on the phone several times prior to our arrival--he was so sweet, patient and informative; not at all high-pressure. I made the reservation based on the fact that I liked speaking to him so much! He also greeted us when we arrived at the hostel. He helped us with our luggage and helped us plan our 2 days in Granada with the map, suggestions of what to do, etc.

On the second day, Freddy was there, and he was wonderful too. He was helpful, informative, and was very flexible with our plans (we had to change our reservation last minute and he was so nice about it).

STAY HERE!!! You won't regret it :)

Room Tip: If you are a family/couple: take one of the apartments. We took the one on the top floor and it was...

A pleasure to have you and your family staying with us recently Will. We are getting more and more families staying in our apartments which we love. We pride ourselves on keeping El Granado spotless and we are rated on booking sites as the cleanest place to stay in Granada. I have let the cleaning staff know of your great feedback on the apartment. We all look forward to seeing you again at El Granado.

Clean, cozy hostel quite well located in Granada. The atmosphere is relaxed and we were really heartwarmingly welcomed. We only stayed for one night but would have stayed longer if we had more time. Don't hesitate!

Everything was great...walking distance from everywhere, friendly staff, great facilities and we were among travellers of all ages. Arrived by bus but trip into old Granada was straight forward and hotel easy to find. We organised a walking tour at the bus station which worked well for us.

El Granado is located in the heart of Granada, easily to reach from the local bus station.
Freddy is the excellent host, always willing to help and provide travelers with information regarding the most important tourist attractions, tapas bars, souvenir shops etc. If you need information about history or cultural wealth, lovely host will discuss with you and try to give answers on all your questions.
Rooms are very clean and comfortable. Although, there are many bars near the hostel, you will not have a problem with sleeping because hostel is located in the peaceful side street.
If you want, you may pay extra 2.5€ per person for breakfast which is more than OK (fresh bred, ham, cheese, orange juice, coffee or tea), pretty good and excellent value for the money.
Wi-Fi is available as well as PC with unlimited internet.

My wife and I really enjoyed staying in this hostel. El Granado met all our expectations and needs. I would say that El Granado is not a hostel but hotel with charm and warm atmosphere.

It will be warmly recommended to our friends.
