“No better hostel in Granada!”
Reviewed 20 November 2013

My best friend and myself had traveled through about 5 cities in Spain during our holiday and none of the other hostels could compare to El Granado. The location was central and our room for two was clean and spacious. Only complaint was the sketchy wifi as we were up on the third floor but the connection was great in the common room/kitchen.

Although the place is great, it is the people there that make El Granado that much better than the other hostels. Freddy checked us in and took a good fifteen minutes to explain the area to us, point out food options and places to explore. Unfortunately for us, it rained the second day we were there and left with nothing to do we were hanging out at the hostel. Freddy entertained us with stories and caught us up to date on the economy while we waited. Of course, Deborah is not to be forgotten-the lovely lady who did our laundry (only 8 euros for a hugeee basket) whom we are eternally grateful to.

I would recommend this hostel, especially because of the super helpful and friendly staff. :)

Thank you kurseth for your kind review and recommendation…it was a pleasure to host you and your best friend here at El Granado. We are always working to improve the WiFi on our upper floors but are glad you found the connection strong in the lounge area. We can’t help the weather but happy you enjoyed relaxing at the hostel that day :)

I stayed in a shared dorm room with three beds. Even though the head room was nil, the bed was so comfortable and came with a basket for my things and a nice reading lamp. The locker was huge and the room was comfortable for three of us. The place also offers other types of room; check the website. The hostel is very clean, including the bathrooms and the showers and bathrooms were great. The hostel has different wings which keeps it quiet. The common room was a wonderful place to hang out in. The WIFI was strong and they have a computer you can use as well. The kitchen had everything I needed. The breakfast was simple but good (bread, jams, butter, cereals, coffee, tea, cocoa). The location is excellent. It's a nice area between the shopping zone and the university and next to a monastery and churches. The place was quiet and well run and the staff were incredibly helpful. I would stay here again. It's easy to walk to all the sights and they can also arrange trips for horse riding, hiking, biking, and rafting. STAY HERE! This was not a party hostel, which is what I liked. A lot of Spanish people where there for the weekend from other parts of Spain, which is nice.

Room Tip: My room faced into the courtyard where people can hangout but everyone went inside after 10pm so it...

From the moment we arrived till we left the staff were fabulous, so helpful! The room was super clean and modern. The common room is such a bonus, with a well kitted out kitchen. Outside space with washing lines too! Good location within a walk to everywhere !
Would stay here again and highly recommend it.

Room Tip: If you have a room at the front close windows at night to cut out he noise from the road which is qu...

Stuart and Deborah it was a pleasure to have you stay with us recently. We really appreciate that you took the time to write all these kind words about our staff. I have passed on your great feedback to our small but hard working and enthusiastic El Granado team. We try to make it our kitchen and common room a little home away from home for guests. It is great you loved them. We all look forward to seeing you again at El Granado.

Location is superb, close to the train station. We found the place quiet, and spic and span. The best thing is that there is a common room to relax and speak to other travellers. The kitchen is clean and tidy. I find that great as I got tired of eating out. 2 euros for breakfast is great value.

Love our room even though it is cosy. I wished I had chosen to pay a bit more for a more spacious room. The owner of this place is friendly and relaxed. I would definitely recommend this place. Great quality sleep in our cosy room and bed.

Room Tip: If you like to spread out a bit, choose the more spacious room and pay a bit more.

Thank you for your review Cupert, we are so pleased that you had a fantastic stay here at El Granado. It’s great that you found the kitchen clean and tidy. While Granada is famous for its tapas, we know some of our visitors like to cook their own meals …and the kitchen/common area is also a good place to mix with other guests. We hope to see you again.

This hostel is one of the best I've stayed at. Such a great, fairly, central location. Super clean. Friendly helpful staff that is always around to answer questions or take you out. This is the perfect accommodation for the solo traveller as well as groups. Met new people every day to explore granada.

Couldn't recommend this hostel highly enough. The building has a warm cosy feel with wooden beam ceilings, partly exposed brick walls, large open spaces and roof top terrace. Three tiered bunks in the rooms, each with an individual lamp and personal lockers. There is also free wifi and it's clean.

Apart from that, what really made it for me, was the warmth and kindness of the staff. I felt like I was being welcomed into the family, and that was what made this hostel special for me. Relaxed, chilled, welcoming.

Oh, and it was really cheap at €14 pppn.

Highly recommend - Lucy

From the moment we arrived I was impressed with this hostel. Andrew (I think his name was, kiwi guy) made us feel very welcome, even carried my heavy bag to the 3rd floor where my fiance and I stayed in a private room with private bathroom. It did not feel like a hostel, more like a hotel, the room was very clean and spacious, good air conditioning. Only downside was that wifi didn't work in our room but did in the common room so that was fine. Kitchen was a decent size, very modern hang out area and a little courtyard that got the sun. The people that worked there were friendly and approachable and gave us good ideas of things to do in granada. Hostel was a 5 min walk from cathedral, very central. would definitely stay here again!

Thanks for your positive review, Rachael. I have passed on your great feedback to Andrew and yes he is our resident Kiwi. It is not a surprise that our staff are rated as the best in Granada. We are proud that you totally enjoyed your stay and the El Granado service. We apologise for the issues you had on the top floor in your room with the WI FI. We recently upgraded our system and have routers on each floor and there were some teething problems to begin with particularly on the top floors.
