I stayed here for 2 nights only, but it was satisfying. Met a mexican couple who was so satisfied they prolonged their stay.

The room was big enough for me, my mother and our huge suitcase. We didn't experience the hot water trouble, like some said on previous reviews. Aircon on room is very useful since we were there during the summer.
We didn't take the room with the view, but it's okay for us because we're almost always outside the hotel. We also didn't get the breakfast buffet. We saw that it was only a selection of breads, cold cuts, juices and coffee/tea. In my opinion it wasn't worth the price.
The hotel location is very close to Plaza Nueva (if I'm not mistaken), and there are lots of restaurants there.

They have one guy who apparently doesn't speak English at all, and he seems to be the one in charge for night duty. But the girls who were in charge during the day spoke English very well, recommend us a particular restaurant that she thought we might like, and booked us a taxi for our super-early flight from Malaga airport.

Room Tip: If you have the extra cash, choose room with Alhambra view.

We were recommended this hotel by a friend and we weren't disappointed. It took us a little while to find and it almost has an anonymous front door but the central courtyard was delightful and gave a real moorish feel to the whole place. The room was huge and very modern with nice views. We felt very central and felt the location was excellent. I wasn't expecting too much on the service front, as we tend to do our own thing anyway, they booked a taxi for us when we went out and recommended a couple of places to eat which was enough for me. We didn't bother with breakfast as we like to try something different each day, which again I know doesn't suit everyone but was fine for us.
My only criticism was the open plan shower and loo, which required a certain amount of singing at different times of the day, but my husband and I have been married for sixteen years, so we take that sort of thing in our stride, may be a bit off putting for a romantic mini break!
I would certain stay again and we loved Granada so it is likely in the near future.

I travelled with a friend to Granada and we got a great deal via booking.com for a suite. The suite was actually a 3 level room with 2 entrances easily accessible via lift. We both got a level each with our own bathroom. The second level was a sofa bed, however was very comfortable. The room was very clean, modern and stylish (a little bland) with great air con. The best thing about the room is the huge windows that open up to reveal a stunning view of the Alhambra. We actually waved to people on the fort! It is in a beautiful building built around a courtyard. The hotel is in easy walking distance to everything you need. Don't come here if you want service, you will need to organise your tours/tickets etc yourself. The staff are as helpful as they can be, with limited english. The breakfast is ok, keeps you going for the day. The bells will wake you in the morning, I loved it. Wi fi is only available in the common area which is a disappointment. All things considered I would stay again and happily recommend to TA travellers.

Room Tip: Opt for a suite for friends travelling together.

I was sadly disappointed in this hotel in every way.
Our standard room was VERY small, and the bathroom was right in the room, not private at all with a glass door for the toilet and shower. Our room was also freezing cold, as was the water for the shower. The hot water only lasts about 5 minutes because the tank cannot hold more than that. The staff was in no way accommodating or helpful about suggesting where to eat good local food and what to do in Granda. It was very clean and well located, but there were a lot of quirks and I expected a lot more for the money.

Room Tip: If you're going to stay here - splurge for the larger rooms! The standard are tiny!

Shine is based around an historic building overlooked by the Alhambra. It is a beautiful buidling, centred around a courtyard open to the stars, and based on an original moorish desgin that ensures that is cool. Location is excellent for sites, shops, centre of the city. Everything is very close in Granada anyway. The hotel doesn't provide food other than buffet breakfast which was entirely missable.
We stayed in suite 302 which was a duplex on the 4th floor easily accessible from the lift. Huge room. Great design. Enormous windows looking up to the walls of the Alhambra. Comfortable with good aircon. Minibar was a bit mini. Shower good. Bathroom could do with a blind over the window. A few bits needed maintenance but really high standard. Upper floor had bathroom, living area and bedroom. Lower part of the duplex, sofa bed, and another bathroom.
Expect to be woken by the bells in the morning from the nearby churches but enjoy the swifts as they chase around the roof tops.

Like others have commented it is soulless. No one said good bye, or thanked us for staying. But put that to one side, you are left alone, single member of staff always helped with info or advice.

Overall, very good hotel choice, and we’d stay here again. Positives: excellent location on a pedestrian street (cabs occasionally drop off & pick up, but otherwise no cars), overlooking River Darro, with great views of the Alhambra, and lovely atmosphere. There were some areas of Granada that felt more like Madrid, so we were pleased to be staying in the Albayzin, with the maze of old cobbled streets. Shine Albayzin is a small 2-3 story hotel (which we prefer) with maybe a dozen rooms arranged around a central courtyard. Old building, old neighborhood, new somewhat minimalist-design furnishings. I especially liked the quiet murmur of the contemporary fountain in the central courtyard – found it to be very peaceful. The view of the Alhambra from our room was beautiful, and that is, after all, why we’d come to Granada. The room was spacious enough for 3 (our 20-something son joined us), and we liked the contemporary design. We did not have a problem with the hot water (as others have noted), and in fact thought the shower was the best of the 5 hotels we visited while in Spain. So overall, very good stay. But…

Among the unusual design issues is the open bathroom. There was a partial wall that blocked the view to the toilet, but not the noise. We prefer a bit more privacy. Also, because of the wall-to-wall mirror running the length of the bathroom, I had to send my 20-something son to the opposite side of the bedroom in order to shower. Again, we like a bit more privacy. We managed, but you may want to know going in.

The other quirk is no phone in the room. Like many Euro hotels, there are also no clocks in the room, so make sure you bring with a travel alarm, because with no phone, you won’t be getting a wakeup call. It’s also a bit of an inconvenience for small things like extra towels, missing soap, etc. We did have to run down on a few occasions to speak with whoever was at the reception desk.

Bottom line is we’d stay here again – the location, the view, will most likely offset the quirks, as long as you are prepared.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the river & Alhambra, which they may or may not honor. We were assur...

Fab location at the foot of the Alhmabra but interiors bland - Ikea furnished - and sanitised. There's nowhere nice to sit and no bar so if you only want somewhere to sleep - which is what you get, dont bother paying this much.
