From a busy street through massive wooden doors you step into a beautiful, calm oasis! Our room was bright, spacious and very comfortable, with a balcony and view to The Alhambra. We enjoyed the welcome bottle of wine too! Great location and helpful staff. We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay at Shine Albayzin.

We really liked this hotel - it is in a beautifully renovated 16th century building next to the Darro River, and with a view, at least from the front door of the hotel, of some of the towers of La Alhambra. The street where the hotel is situated, Carrera del Darro, IS pasable by vehicles, but pedestrians have to squeeze close to the buildings on one side, and the wall next to the river on the other side to allow the vehicles to pass. Our taxi took us right to the door of the hotel.
The center sort of courtyard around which the rooms are situated is very beautiful and cool. There was very little noise inside the hotel, despite the noise outside the hotel (and the Carrera del Darro is immediately outside the entrance door to the hotel). I had breakfast there the two mornings we were at the hotel, and it was fine, with fresh espresso coffee brought to the table, WHEN someone was available to do so, which was not always the case, as the hotel staff appears to have to do everything. The charming young lady at the front desk (which, by the way, really is a desk) was very helpful to us.
I think the hotel is a very good value for what it is.
The Plaza Nueva is just down the Carrera del Darro a short walk, and there are many interesting places both on the way from the hotel, such as El Palacio de los Olvidados, as well as on the Plaza, including a very old church, numerous restaurants, and there was a fellow playing flamenco one day.

Room Tip: We stayed on the top floor on the NE side of the hotel, and it was great.

We stayed here for two nights. It was quite easy to find the hotel. We took Granada airport shuttle bus, stop at the Cathedral (junction) and took to left street from the junction - Calle Reyes Catolicos.. follow the road then it become Carrera del Darros. The hotel is on the street alongside the river..

The standard room size is quite small. And even though we spent two nights in Granada, we always back in hotel around 11 pm. Small town but so many things to see..

The room is clean. Amenities quite complete. They warned about the hot water thought. Only available for 20 minutes, then have to wait around 30 minutes to get water hot again.
Booked through booking.com, payable in the hotel.

They also provide complimentary wine.

I do recommend this place to stay, if you want to visit Alhambra palace.

The hotel and the room are good looking. The bathroom was fantastic (and separated from the main room, unlike some of the other rooms in the hotel according to other reviews) and clean. The service staff was very friendly. The location is fantastic, although you can't reach it by car (part of the charm). The breakfast 7.50 Euros did not look appealing so we ate out for breakfast as well. We enjoyed our stay very much. It was a positive experience.

The hotel is very well located at Carrera del Darro, a very touristic place, but when you are inside you have peace, quietness and a beautiful interior patio. Ilaria, who was at the main desk, was very nice and helpful giving us good tips and making reservations for a intimate and excellent flamenco show at Casa del Arte Flamenco.
I read that some guests complained about the smell, but for God's sake, you are in a Sixteenth Century building, and i have to say they made a great job adapting the place for modern needs. I really recommend this hotel for people who's smart enough to appreciate the old and vibrant Granada, and who wants an average and boring hotel, well, they don't deserve Shine Albayzin.

Room Tip: rooms with a patio view are cheaper and more quiet.

Stayed here in February for 4 nights with teenage son with the intention of visiting the Alhambra Palace. The hotel was situated very close to the Palace, which could be seen from the balcony of the hotel. The hotel is accessed from the street by a very understated, large wooden door, which reveals a small, Moorish-style central courtyard around which the rooms are situated on 3 floors.

The two rooms we had were comfortable, clean and modern, with our room being at the front of the hotel overlooking the Alhambra and our son's at the back of the hotel with only windows overlooking the internal courtyard. The only criticism I would have about our room would be regarding the en suite shower and toilet, which was along one side of the room. The door to the cubicle was only partially frosted glass and didn't reach to the floor or the ceiling, so consequently privacy was impossible when using the facilities and didn't leave much to the imagination!

There was a bottle of red wine in the room to welcome us on arrival and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Guests are also encouraged to help themselves to mint tea and honey cakes every afternoon in the lobby, if they wish.

The hotel was very situated and we spent our time walking around the narrow, winding streets of the Arab Quarter, discovering various museums and points of interest. Overall, I would recommend it as a tranquil retreat from which to branch out and explore the historic parts of Granada.

Room Tip: If you don't like sharing your most intimate bathroom moments with a partner, don't chose a...

We stayed in this delightful boutique hotel at the begining of semana santa, Holy Week. What an experience. The staff could not have been more helpful. Lovely breakfasts. Close to
the places we wanted to visit. A magnicent procession made its way down and up the street outside. We did not mind the noise!
