We had planned only two nights in Granada at this hotel. The main building was quiet and peaceful, rocked by the sound of the small water fountain in the center. Staff was very welcoming and supportive. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet. As mentioned in other comments, the water temperature in the shower is sometimes inconsistent, but who needs hot water when it's 40 degrees in Granada. We were on the second floor and the window faced the inside yard. Due to food-poisoning (public water fountain at the Alhambra or a calzone gone bad), we had to extend our stay 2 extra nights. The staff was very comprehensive. We were lucky not to have to check-out while dealing with health issues, hospitals, insurances, etc. Thanks again!

Shine was a prefect little boutique hotel. Our room looked up to alhambra from our tiny little balcony.
The service was exceptionally good upon check in. The beds were very comfortable with a decent size room and bathroom.
All very new and very clean.
The location is also prefect.
We weren't too fond of the breakfast on offer for the price they were asking for but in general we found spain wasn't as big on their breakfasts as what we are used to at home.
All in all great little place!

The Shine is a Moorish style hotel in the Albayzin, with a view of the Alhambra. Booked one of the larger rooms facing the courtyard. Very spacious - requested twin beds. Beds were not plush but serviceable. View of the Alhambra was wonderful day or night. I would confirm if you are staying at the hotel or the apartments. There is a great little bar across the canal - you look directly at it when you come out of hotel. Loved arrival at the hotel, your taxi driver will take you down this narrow cobblestone road and pedestrians have to stand out of way. If you drive, you'll have to park away from the hotel. Canal on other side of street. If you are looking for a Moorish hotel vs. standard corp or shabby chic, this is the hotel for you. (Note: Depending on your room you may have to go up a flight of stairs.)

Very nicely restored building on Carrera del Darro running alongside the river. Well located for Plaza Neuva, the cathedral, the Alhambra and Albaicin, yet calm and cool inside even in the relentless heat of Granada. Great choice of tapas bars etc further up the street at Paseo de los Tristes (nice view of the Alhambra) or down at Plaza Neuva.... as usual, you get more for your money in the bars just off the main square (Meson Andaluz was particularly good). Only minor gripe with the hotel was the water wasn't terribly hot, our towels weren't changed in the 3 nights we were here and the WiFi was a bit patchy, but the staff are helpful and the rooms, although small, are nicely furnished and comfortable. We got a good price on booking.com and would recommend.

We (2 adults & 1yr old) stayed in the apartment just further down the rd from the hotel. A little noisy as on the Main Street in the albayzin. Lovely inside. Comfy & clean. Lots of restaurants close for take out if staying in with a baby like us. Not too much of a walk from car park. Bathroom a bit smelly but it was warm & stormy later so to be expected. Could do with wifi in apartment not just hotel reception. Had a great time! Would recommend.

From a busy street through massive wooden doors you step into a beautiful, calm oasis! Our room was bright, spacious and very comfortable, with a balcony and view to The Alhambra. We enjoyed the welcome bottle of wine too! Great location and helpful staff. We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay at Shine Albayzin.

We really liked this hotel - it is in a beautifully renovated 16th century building next to the Darro River, and with a view, at least from the front door of the hotel, of some of the towers of La Alhambra. The street where the hotel is situated, Carrera del Darro, IS pasable by vehicles, but pedestrians have to squeeze close to the buildings on one side, and the wall next to the river on the other side to allow the vehicles to pass. Our taxi took us right to the door of the hotel.
The center sort of courtyard around which the rooms are situated is very beautiful and cool. There was very little noise inside the hotel, despite the noise outside the hotel (and the Carrera del Darro is immediately outside the entrance door to the hotel). I had breakfast there the two mornings we were at the hotel, and it was fine, with fresh espresso coffee brought to the table, WHEN someone was available to do so, which was not always the case, as the hotel staff appears to have to do everything. The charming young lady at the front desk (which, by the way, really is a desk) was very helpful to us.
I think the hotel is a very good value for what it is.
The Plaza Nueva is just down the Carrera del Darro a short walk, and there are many interesting places both on the way from the hotel, such as El Palacio de los Olvidados, as well as on the Plaza, including a very old church, numerous restaurants, and there was a fellow playing flamenco one day.

Room Tip: We stayed on the top floor on the NE side of the hotel, and it was great.
