Returning to the Alhambra Palace was like revisiting an old aunt. We were not disappointed. Same slightly excentric but romantic location atop the hill. Same gorgeous terrace offering a spectacular view and no less spectacularly priced drinks and light fare. Generously sized, comfy rooms in need of being updated and refreshed. Great breakfast. Hospitable staff but the kitchen can be uneven. Still a lovely stay in memorable Granada.

Room Tip: Corner rooms offer spectacular views.

We arrived tired, hot and hungary and were immediately made to feel welcome. Our room wasn't ready (we were early), so we had a lunch on the terrace looking out over the city of Granada. Very good gazpacho and pepito. The room was a wonderful surprise; spacious and full of light. Huge tub and lots of hot water. Internet in the room (with a code). Best breakfast buffet we've had in Spain.

The only down side is that the hotel is at the top of the hill, so taxis were our choice for "getting home" after walking through the city. Easy and pretty walk to town, all downhill!

We stayed at the Alhambra Palace 3 nights and we enjoyed every minute of it! The location which is just outside of the Alhambra grounds, about 900 feet above the city and with spectacular views of the mountains, valley and the city below (including beautiful sunsets), was superb. The breakfasts were some of the best in Spain. Outstanding staff and a very comfortable and clean room. We cannot wait to return!

Room Tip: A room on a high floor with a bathroom that has a window.

We had tried to book a hotel room two months prior to our visit, at the Parador, but they were full. At the advise of our travel agent, we were booked into the Hotel Alhambra Palace. According to the guide we used to see the Alhambra, this was one of the first, if not the first hotel built up on the same hill as the Alhambra.

The location of the hotel is great in that it is only about a ten minute walk to the Alhambra. The vistas from the hotel itself are spectacular, in that you have views of the town of Granada below, as well as views of the Sierra Mountain range. If you stay here be sure and have a drink out on the terrace, to soak in the vistas.

We were booked into a junior suite, which was quite spacious. The bathroom had been redone, but the rest of the room looked "tired" Also, the soundproofing in the rooms is lacking, so you could hear other hotel room doors opening and closing, and foot traffic noise.

The restaurant was quite good when we ate there. Service was good and on the "grand" side with dinners served with silver domes covering them, linen tablecloths, etc.

The staff was efficient and friendly. Overall the experience was fine, particularly because of its proximity to The Alhambra.

Obviously the kitchen staff had been reprimanded for the meal. This spread to all the other staff in the hotel including the parking attendants and reception staff. The hotel manager failed to respond to our legitimate complaints in an acceptable manner

Room Tip: The hotel is clean, rooms are adiquate, not enough wardrobe space if you are staying for more than...

We stayed here on June 2nd for 1 night. I booked it just a few days before our trip. We were going to stay in Albayzin but I got worried about driving into town. I'm so happy that we stayed in the Palace, it was very easy to find, the hotel e-mailed me directions and that's what we followed not the GPS. The staff was friendly and helpful. We were able to park our car in front of hotel. We got a room on the corner of the building in the 2nd floor facing the city, what a great view!!! A bolcony on one side, big window on the another and even the bathroom had a great view! Granada is a beautiful city.

We had booked this hotel to spend our 25th wedding anniversary. We had tried to get a room at the parador but were unsuccessful so thought this would be a good alternative. We booked a junior suite and had asked when we reserved to have a nice table at dinner for our special night.

The hotel is very well located for the Alhambra and about 15 minutes walk to other attractions (it is on a hill so the trip back to the hotel is all uphill).
The room was very large with a good size bedroom, sitting room and bathroom. The bed was comfortable.

The hotel is showing its age, it could use an update.

We were disappointed in our anniversary dinner. Although we had been assured we would get a nice table, there was no table set aside for us. We were just lucky to get a window seat. The view from the terrace is lovely. The restaurant is crowded and noisy and they seem to try to get you in and out. Nothing special. The food was fine but not great. I had to send my steak back as it wasn't cooked enough (ordered medium but it was almost raw). The table next to us also send a meal back.

When my husband asked for a iron they said they couldn't give him one but that the maid could iron his shirt. She did iron it but there was a 6 euro charge that no one mentioned.

If staying 1 night in Granada to visit the Alhambra this hotel is probably worthwhile because of its location otherwise you could probably do better.

If you want a good dinner, go 5 minutes away to the Carmen San Miguel restaurant. We had our best meal in Spain there.
