“Old world elegance, modern amenities, perfect location in central Granada!”
Reviewed 1 October 2013

We had two nights in this beautifully appointed hotel that is over 100 years old. The staff was attentive without being intrusive. The rooms were comfortable, well appointed, and our view over the city at night was spectacular. The breakfast buffet was outstanding! The hotel lobby decor was simply elegant. It is conveniently located on the #30 tourist bus loop, and a beautiful walk down to Plaza Neuva.

This beautiful hotel was opened in 1901 - pictures of the building works can be seen in the corridor leading to the restaurant. It is most picturesque, in its 'neo-moorish' style. Rooms are spacious and well-furbished. The bar has a veranda overlooking Granada; the sunset is glorious in a beautiful day. Ask a glass of sherry (Fino), very well served at the right temperature, relax and admire the view. Not a cheap hotel, but one that deserves what it charges. The greatest advantage: it is located practically inside La Alhambra.

Room Tip: Try choosing a room with a view to the city below.

Our room was old, not nice, just old. The view from the Juliet balcony at night was the nicest part...looking out. We tried to have drinks at the hotel outside bar and waited 45 minutes to be served. Awful service and it was the same for everyone in the bar so it wasn't us. We had a single piece of tapas that was 7.50 euro each. Decided dinner would be too pricey so we walked out the door to the bus stop and went downtown. Minibus #30 runs back and forth all the time because the hills are unwalkable. It is very inexpensive to buy a ticket on board. Yes, it is close to the Alhambra within walking distance. If I did it over I'd stay in town close to things and take the mini bus up.

Room Tip: We were only staying one night and I think we got an inferior room on the 1st floor at the top of th...

Dear guests thank you very much for you comment it help us to improve. We would like to apologize because of the time you wait to be served. However we inform you that this is not the usual, our personal is really professional and normally they are careful with our guest since the moment they cross the lobby. In addition, we would like to inform you that our Hotel is the second antique Hotel of Spain since we have been up since 1910 inside the citadel of The Alhambra a privileged location and an area protected by the UNESCO just 15 minutes walking from the center of the city and 5 minutes walking from the appreciated Alhambra. We hope to see you soon again so we can thank you personally.

Close to Alhambra Palace (few minutes’ walk)
Rooms are updated, but worn carpet which looked dirty
Beds are very low with uncomfortable mattresses.
No hand tissues in bathroom
Temperature control problems, won't stop cooling when reach the target temperature
Room service terrible, ask for a bucket of ice, two calls and more than 30 minutes to get it. We asked the front desk for a list of laundry prices, they gave us a weird look and told us you wash your cloths in your room!!
Breakfast starts at 7:30, a line to get through the doors, a bigger line to get a coffee which only provided by two machines. Quality Ok, variety not good enough for a four stars hotel
WiFi and wireless Internet connection is frustrating, torture, and ridiculous; you cannot get an access from the room.
Dinner at the restaurant was very good. When you order decaf coffee, you will get hot water and a packet of instant decaf
This is once and one-day stay just for the history.

Thank you very much for you comment it help us to improve. However, we would like to inform you that we start changing the mattresses recently as well as the carpets of the entire hotel. In addition we inform you that we are a 103 years old and we keep renovating day by day the hotel that’s the reason why our housekeeping service is all over the hotel from time to time. The hotel last big renovation was in 2008 and we change all the air condition system between other things. Our breakfast salon has two coffee machines so it is not the usual to make a line in order to get coffee also it offer a breakfast buffet with huge variety of products, more than 100 choices of American and Mediterranean breakfast. Our personal have been working here for more than 25 years and they know the importance of a good service so as

This is a 4-star hotel around the corner from the Alhambra Palace, the most visited tourist site in Spain. Room was fine, but the food choices were quite limited--for example, there is no children's menu, and if you are Muslim, Jewish, Adventist, Vegetarian, or Vegan, the fact that 90% of the items on the menu involve ham or other pork products is quite limiting. When we sent back a hamburger that arrived raw, the next burger came with a toxic amount of salt---most likely the chef's punitive measure against us. My kids were too hungry for us to send back the burger another time. We were not impressed, and could not find the hotel manager, with the desk clerk not wanting to handle any complaints. Over-rated due to location and imitation of the real Alhambra.

Dear guest. Thank you very much for your comments. We are very sorry about your experience in our hotel. This is not the normal impression our guest get after their stay as you can read in the thousand of comments from others tripadvisor users. Our restaurant menu offers a huge variety of meals from pork to fresh fish or vegetables, so it does our snack bar menu. Normally when a client had any objection about the food and it’s been told to our professionals waiters and to the chef, they used to re-do it even better that the first time that’s why we still on since 1910. Our peculiar similarity to the Alhambra is one of the reasons why the hotel is protected by the UNESCO. In addition, our reputation all over the world plus the 103 years of professionalism in the different departments is what makes us unique. That’s why, we inspire you to try and trust us one more time so we can thank you personally.

very nice hotel with great architecture .
the hotel is a 100 years old but it is very well preserved and just 5 minute walk from the Alhambra.
we have been assigned a room with a huge terrace on the 4th floor.
food at the hotel was excellent , breakfast and a la carte but the service in restaurant need big improvement as they consider themselves as a fine dining , except the service at the lobby bar terrace which was very good.
front office staff were very kind and helpful , they even kindly run everywhere to find candy for my daughter at the check out as the bowl was empty and she wanted to have one .
great adress in Grenada and worth to be back .

This hotel has a wonderful location and is justifiably proud of it. The building itself shows some signs of age but is generally as impressive as when it was first built. Staff were extremely helpful when we arrived by car and asked about parking (the car was parked for us and the luggage delivered to our room). The room itself was of a high standard and comfortable with a magnificent view over the city of Granada. Breakfast matched the quality of the rest of the hotel and service was helpful if slightly abrupt. Reception staff were most helpful in arranging our tours and plans.
Only two small gripes; one has been mentioned by many (the wi-fi) frustrating in the extreme and one can only assume it is just not sufficiently powerful for the number of users.

Room Tip: A point of advice; we were initially very impressed to have a room just off the lobby (15), it was v...
