“Very Good Hotel - BUT!!!”
Reviewed 15 May 2014

The hotel is well positioned for Alhambra and for the city. Walking, or bus or taxi all very easy. Excellent buffet breakfast all good quality and fresh. Rooms are quite small but perfectly adequate for purpose Excellent helpful staff at reception. Price decent value for money.

Trying to sit in the evening on the terrace overlooking the city with a drink and a snack impossible because of the incessant smoking. How is this allowed in the EU? The hotel should not allow this but the staff just shrug!

Dear Guest,
Thank you very much for your kind comment. Comment like this is what motivates us to keep working as the first day. We are very glad you enjoy your stay with us. Regarding the smoking on our terrace, we are very sorry. As far a the law stipulate it is allow to smoke in the open air areas that’s the reason why the staff of the hotel couldn’t do anything about it. We hope you came back soon so we can thank you personally.
Kindest Regards,

The hotel has a superlative site on the Alhambra hill overlooking the city and conveniently next to the Alhambra palaces themselves. Its public rooms and spaces are absolutely beautiful and maintained to the highest standards, scrupulously clean, gleaming! The bedrooms are spotless too, the housekeeping staff charming and facilities modern (apart from too few electric sockets for gadgets). The bar and restaurant are a little disappointing, however: breakfast is very good with a wide buffet choice but the staff are not terribly interested in you; same in the bar - rather desultory service. I was astonished to be told that wine by the glass was restricted to two choices! You have to buy a bottle to get the full choice. We would have had a (dinner) meal in the restaurant but it doesn't open till 8.30pm Spanish style. This seems foolish policy for an international clientèle - far too late to start to eat. As a result the place is empty for the most part while local restaurants are teeming with diners.

Room Tip: The basic offering is a very nice room with wonderful views; plenty of space. Probably not worth the...

Our visit was much too short. We had only one day in Granada.

We stayed in the Alhambra Palace for the night. The views from our room, and also from the dining room, were incredible.

The Hotel itself is fantastic and it is in one of the really great locations, overlooking the beautiful city of Granada.

I would highly (pun intended!) recommend it to anyone thinking of staying in Granada.

This a long overdue review of this hotel when we stayed here last year. At first, we were given a small room in which the AC didn't seem to work. We waited 5 hrs for the room to cool down (this was at peak of heat season in August) and the room was still warm after the staff told us to give some time for the room to cool down. We complained, and the staff came through with no problems and gave us a bigger room with fantastic views of the city. We had little milk for our toddler as soon as we arrived, and they provided us milk for our toddler at no cost! Unfortunately, the WiFi was down for 2 days, which was a bummer. However, because the hotel is beautiful, and the staff was extremely accomodating, we had a nice dinner at the hotel restaurant, we would not hesitate to go back to this hotel. The restaurant manager and waiter were very friendly and welcoming. The location is really fabulous, next to the Alhambra, but a hike back up when you go downtown. There seem to be a bus right in front of the hotel, in case you don't want to walk down to town.

We also booked a guided tour through the hotel, which didn't not disappoint, worthy the money! There is so much history to The Alhambra that a guided tour was just perfect.

We loved Granada in every way, the history, the town, the view and our stay and we look forward to our next trip there and staying at the Hotel Alhambra Palace.

Room Tip: Rooms above the terrace bar have incredible views of the city and they are very quiet.

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at the historic and eccentric Hotel Alhambra Palace. We found the staff to be beyond accommodating, getting us in to a tour of the Alhambra when tickets were all sold our for days in advance. The views from the terrace roof/bar were far beyond beautiful; we couldn't stop taking pictures. We enjoyed a fantastic meal in the hotel's restaurant and heard others praising their meal as well. It surprises me to hear people complain about the restaurant in any way. We found the staff to be attentive and kind, making great recommendations. We also thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast buffet in the morning. The beds were comfortable, the sheets and blankets clean, the towels soft, and we had no trouble with wifi (I accessed in on numerous floors and even outside of the hotel in the parking lot).

Addressing the complaints of others: If you want to stay someplace that has walking access to an entire city, stay in the city centre! The Hotel Alhambra Palace is located on the side of a mountain and its locations has that merit. There are numerous other restaurants within walking distance, as well, including those in other hotels as well as little family-run places along the short walk to the Alhambra itself.

Yes, the parking is mayhem, but we found that being patient and waiting for the hotel's staff to valet our car was easy, efficient and only took a few minutes out of our busy day. The previous reviewers statement that they "won't" valet the car is the opposite of our own: They parked our car more than 10 minutes away to ensure that we weren't bothered with trying to find parking ourself. It's clear to see by the location that there is no "parking area"; it was built in 1910 on the side of a mountain. Once again, if you want the ease of modern convenience, stay in town where there are garages. If you want exotic and historical, come on over. Or park your rental car in town and take a taxi! There is a taxi stand literally in front of the hotel.

Our room was a bit musty but after turning on the A/C and opening the gorgeous windows briefly, we had no complaints. Our room and bathroom were clean and the size of the room was wonderful. Obviously not every room is going to have a gorgeous panoramic room; it's impossible. But all you need do is plan to spend an afternoon at the hotel's bar or restaurant and you'll have amazing views for hours on end.

Some of the issues with staff seem to be communication issues. We found the staff to be kind, humorous, attentive, overly eager to serve. We never touched our own bags, they held them for us long past check-out so that we could do more in Granada before leaving, and even though my husband speaks Spanish fluently, the staff still would try to communicate with me in English after speaking with him, so that I wouldn't feel "left out" of the information.

Room Tip: We were in room 111, had a large room with a pretty view of the city, had no trouble with hearing A...

I stayed 2 years ago and loved it. this time I was in a twin room with a balcony overlooking the town. perfect for evening sundowners in your room. We had tapas twice in the bar on the balcony which were really good and reasonably priced. The location is super as we drove to the hotel without getting lost - it is really easy to find and from the hotel you can just walk down into town and up to the Alhambra.

Room Tip: overlooking the town is super
