“Great hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 September 2012

Stayed four nights. Quiet, modern rooms, nice staff. Highly recommended.
The hotel is situated right at the center but is hidden away in a small cul-de-sac alley so it's very quiet. The rooms are very comfortable and modern.

Stayed two nights early September during tour of Andalucia. My advice to anyone thinking about Granada as a city break would be, think no more, just book it, it’s brilliant. And I cannot imagine there could be a better hotel at which to base oneself at than Monjas Del Carmen. Everything about it is just great. Tucked just off Palza Neuvo, location is perfect. It is thoroughly modern inside and refurbished to a high standard – bright and spotless throughout. The staff were really very helpful with advice, suggestions, directions etc. Also, whether or not you have chosen this hotel, be sure to visit the bar ‘Los Manueles’, an absolute delight, especially later in the evening, with a tremendous buzz and great food as well. It’s an entertainment in itself watching the enthusiasm and efficiency of the waiters.
Our Tips- If coming by car it is worth paying the 22 Euros a night for the underground car park, probably saved most of that on transport as everything within easy walking distance, nowhere to park anywhere near otherwise.
Must book Alhambra before going, good advice elsewhere on TA on visiting, but be aware if you print tickets off before going, (If you’ve bought via Ticketmaster you can print ticket off at the Alhambra book shop, about 200 yards from the hotel down the Calle Reys de Catolicos on the left) -make sure you have your guide book or Audio Guide before joining the queue for the Nasrid Palace as you can’t buy or hire any once in there. (unlike in the hotel and bars, the staff were neither helpful nor friendly!)

We stayed here in Room 110 for a long weekend as a family of 3 with a young baby. The hotel is modern and well thought out, with good size rooms and a very nice ensuite bathroom. There is also a tv lounge on the first floor with a dining table which was very handy for feeding the little one or relaxing while she had a nap in the room. The underground garage is great but don't bring a big car as its quite tight! (There is a charge of €22 per night for parking) We ate in the on-site restaurant, Los Manueles, one evening and it was very nice, if a little more expensive than many places in Granada, although it did seem very popular on a Saturday evening with locals and tourists alike. You couldn't ask for a better location as it's a short walk to all the major sights, including the Alhambra and the reception staff are very helpful and polite. There are plenty of good places for tapas nearby and the wine bar across the street from Los Manueles has 48 different wines by the glass! Overall I would very much recommend this hotel for its facilities, location and quality of the rooms, we hope to be back soon!

Room Tip: I would reckon that the rooms that overlook the courtyard where the restaurant terrace is could be q...

Lovely hotel with very friendly and efficient staff. In the heart of the city within walking distance of Alhambara and adjacent to the Plaza Nueva with it's many lively bars and eating places. The hotel has a light airy feel to it and the rooms/ bathrooms are spotlessly clean. Car parking has to be paid for and isn't cheap at 22 Euro per day but is secure if a little tight to get into and out of and the parking spaces are narrow. Breakfast is limited in choice and is extra to the room price so has to be paid for seperately. It's probably best to go find a little cafe nearby and spend your money where they serve a more substantial offering.

Access to the hotel is via the long and narrow Calle de Elvira which is pedestian access only. Guests wanting to park at the hotel have to make contact a few days prior to their visit to register the car / driver details in order to drive on Elvira and get past the automatic rising bollards. After ringing or mailing them they will e.mail directions to the hotel which are clear and precise, we never used sat nav - just the directions and found the place with no problems whatsoever.

For Indian food lovers, seek out the "Muglia" Indian restaurants - both have the same owner. One is near Plaza de Gracia and the other one is near Plaza Nueva. We ate at the one near the Plaza de Gracia & it's up there with the best we've ever had.

Hotel Monjas del Carmen was an an excellent choice from T/A recommendations. Hotel Monjas del Carmen is an attractive and modern hotel situated in a quiet street in the hub of Granada's attractions - L'Alhambra / Mirador de San Nicolas /Albayzin - all only a short walk away. Room 307 was spacious and welcoming. It had a large stylish bathroom with a snazzy hairdrier. The bed was the most comfortable we had slept on in our 6 weeks of European traveling. Manuel's Restaurant adjacent to this hotel provides a delicious breakfast - (eggs done to perfection). Breakfast is discounted if ordered at the hotel reception prior.Value for money this hotel has to be seen to be believed! Top Tip:- Visit restaurant on tier below Mirador San Nicolas (tucked out of sight) for a drink or meal - perfect spot to watch sun go down over L'Alhambra.

Ideal location for a trip to Granada.

Located in the old town and within walking disance of the Alhambra Palace. About a 15 minute walk up a steady incline to he Alahambra gate. Make sure that you pre-book your tickets as entry tickets to the main palace do, on occasions, run out. This gives an entry time slot - we picked the first openning at 8.30 am to avoid most of the queue.
We booked the Alhambra on line in the hotel using the free WIFI and picked the tickets up from the book shop around the corner from the hotel - approximately 100 meters away.

Hotel is modern and clean with friendly and helpful staff.

Due to is location there are pleanty of cafes and bars for beakfast or dinner - you could also use the map provided and seek out on of the Tapas bars.

Also good location for the shops.

Dear Miki346, we are glad to read that your stay was as you expected. Our restaurante "LOS MANUELES" is a typical family-bar from Granada, therefore we offer a wide range of homemade dishes to show our best product from the province.
We hope to see you again in Granada and thank you very much for your comments

This is a great hotel- centrally located about 15 mins walk from the Alhambra. Incredibly friendly and helpful staff, lovely rooms if a tad small perhaps, fantastic shower and everything really clean. Modern but not aggressively or impersonally so- still has a natural feel to it. Highly recommended.
