“Good Hotel, well situated in Granada.”
Reviewed 14 August 2011

This hotel is situated in Plaza Nueva in Granada. There is a bus service right outside the hotel which serves most of Granada. the hotel is situated in an area where you can walk to most places you need to be.

Positives: The beds were comfy, there was aircon, the shower/ bath room were all good, clean and modern. Breakfast was also good; nothing mind blowing, but bread/ toamatoes/ cold cuts and sweet breads were all available, as well as cereals & yoghurts.

Staff were friendly enough, offering a citymap and direction if asked.

Lobby smelled a bit of smoke, but definetely not the rooms. Major downside was that the 'view' from the room was not so good. It was of an internal chute, showing the backside of all the other rooms. Although a downside, I really didn't car. We were there for three days/ two nights, so, were never really there.

Well priced, easy access, both in and out, meant that a geeod stay was had by us.

While traveling in Spain, I decided to take a quick side trip to Granada so I booked a one night stay at this hotel and got a last minute discounted rate. The positives for this hotel for me is the location (conveniently located to everything in the city including all the sites), the fact that the staff spoke English (my Spanish skills are poor), the air conditioning worked well and that the bathroom was clean. The negatives were that my single was tiny (3x7ft od clear floor area, just enough to open the door and step into the room, there was only 1 electric outlet in the room which the tv was plugged into, so no tv watching while recharging all the gadgets and the furnishings were slightly worn (the carpet in the 3x7 space was worn and the bed cover had cigarette burn holes, even tho it was supposedly a non-smoking room). All in all, for a one night stay it was okay and I would recommend it to others.

One of the best locations in Granada, in a plaza at the bottom of the hill to the Alhambra, only 15 minutes steady walk to the ticket office, also close to the Arab quarter, and the cathedral is only a few streets away.
The front desk staff where all very good and the breakfast is Continental, as was varied.
Apart from the rooms facing the plaza, all the others have windows which face into small courtyards, therefore have limited views, but this is to be expected of a city centre hotel,

Room Tip: you can pay approximately 10 euros extra a night for a plaza facing room

We stayed in a number of hotels during our trip to Spain, and this hotel was easily the best value. It has a great central location near airport bus and all of the tourist locations. Only negative was the wireless Internet was not running properly.

The major plus of the hotel is its location in very center of Granada, few steps from everything and just in between the old magical Albaicin and a newer part with all the services. You can walk to all the major sites, apart from Alhambra of course (there is a bus stop nearby).
The room was not very spacious, but modern, super clean and comfortable. The bathroom again small but very recent and polished. The whole hotel feels pleasant and nicely refurbished. We got a room with window into the service courtyard, so no view and not much of daylight, but on the other hand it was very quiet in the night, which in the center in full season can be an issue otherwise. The hotel doesn't have a parking, but you can park in a public place nearby (Parking Augustin) and walk for 5 min, the parking costs 25eur per day. There is also one for 15eur a day, but little farer.
Generally for the money spent (120 for 2 nights) I considered it a great deal, mainly because of its location and modern style.

Very clean and comfortable, great location within charming Plaza Nueva, useful staff who suggested activities such as flamenco shows (which we loved) and helped us booking tickets to the Alhambra (with a little booking fee though...). Would totally recommend. The only negative thing: the view from our room wasn't great, if this is important to you.

Stayed here for 3 nights at the beginning of June. Requested a superior room with Alhambra view. Stayed in room 402. Small, modern room but efficiently set up with enough storage. Very small balcony that you could stand on but not enough room for a table and chairs. I was concerned about noise at first as the room was right off the elevator and also right on the Plaza Nuevo. Interestingly enough, even though I heard street noise until well after midnight when sitting by the window, I was not disturbed by noise at all while I slept and was also not awakened by any hotel noise. Everyone at the front desk was very helpful. Special thanks to Pedro who helped me confirm my flight on my last night. My flight reservation with Iberia was only showing one passenger instead of 2 and he made sure he helped me confirm the correct information. The location can’t be beat for its convenience. There’s a taxi stand right in front as well as a stop for the buses that go to the Alhambra and the Albayzin. I was happy that I got the room on the plaza with the view as I thoroughly enjoyed it my last night. I was able to enjoy the spectacle of the birds flying about wildly and then the changing light over the town and the Alhambra in the distance while I packed.

Did not take breakfast at the hotel as it was not included in my rate but it looked like it was pretty good. I found a good cafeteria just down the street that was very good and very economical.

Granada was great and I enjoyed my stay at the Macia Plaza.

Room Tip: Go for the Alhambra view
