“Good value”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 August 2014

Just opposite to the Alhambra, the hotel is the perfect location to visit Granada. We have stayed here twice now, and confirm that this hotel is really of good value. Negative : The breakfast room is very noisy, the lobby somewhat too. Positive : the outdoor barbecue restaurant (amazing view at sunset), the swimming pool, the staff, wifi in the bedroom and the car parking.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms with swimming pool view.

After driving in the hell that is Granada city centre, hotel has very easy access from the motorway and is right on the doorstep of the Alhambra. Basic ,but ok. We asked for a Sangria which came from a ready mixed bottle. Would i stay again , yes indeed

A very good location- just by Alhambra palast. The prices low for the room. Bad points: car- parking (costs ca.15-20€/ night), you have to pay also for the safe in the room if you want to use it.
Hotel was clean. Stuff really VERY FRIENDLY and helpful.
Nice was also the possibility to use the swimming pool after all day visiting Alhambra :-)

The Hotel Alixares is in a perfect situation for the Alhambra and the Generalife so when we gathered at 0815 to go into the magnificent complex of buildings we could not have been more on the spot. The hotel is fairly basic and does cater for a large number of tour groups but the evening buffets were good and the breakfasts were even better. The rooms are furnished quite well, are very clean and bed comfort was good. It was clear from the outset that is a quiet hotel too with no disturbances from outside. Not all the rooms had great views but there is so much to do in Granada we didn’t stay in the room that much. Take no notice about the distance into Granada as the walk down to the city was delightful and starts right beside the Alhambra before following a well paved trail on the wooded Cuesta de Gomerez. Being downhill, and easy walking all the way, it took less time than we expected. If you don’t want to have the expense of a taxi [although they are reasonably priced] to get you back up the hill, there is a very good bus service running from a bus stop very near the Capilla Real*. The efficient staff at the hotel reception will let you know the bus numbers. The buses are small to go up the winding streets back to the hotel and the driver was very helpful. With a few useful shops nearby, I think this hotel was a good choice for Granada.

[*A general point when in the town is to be aware of the great number of itinerant persons in the tourist areas who will try and force you to take a sprig of rosemary or some other unnecessary part of a plant. Speak firmly to say “no” and never put out your hand.]

We chose this hotel because it is close to the Alhambra (which means far away from the town centre) and has a pool to relax after sightseeing. The location was great as we had our timed entry booked for 8:30h and did not have to get up extra early because the Alhambra main entrance is less than five minutes walk away. The pool area looked nicer on the website, not many chairs and very busy in the afternoon. Our room was rather cramped with a double and two single beds for the kids. Breakfast was nothing special but I recommend the restaurant on the top floor - not necessarily for the food but the views and sunset. All in all good value for money if the main purpose of your stay is sightseeing.

The rooms are fine and the views to the mountain or over the Alhambra are inspiring. Easy to reach La Alhambra by foot the main problem is the location.  The Hotel is mostly targeted by tourist groups so they arrive and leave by coach. For those traveling by car you won’t have any other option but to keep your vehicle in the parking. The other weak point of the facility is that despite it’s just 15 minutes away by foot from the city center is a very steep walk, although a very beautiful one I have to say.

This is the perfect hotel if you want to visit Alhambra.
Alhambra is just two minutes walk from the hotel and the hotel has parking on Alhambras p-place.
Parking is cheap only € 15,5 for 24h.
The hotel has a nice outdoor swimming pool with sun beds and free towels.
Breakfast is very good with all you need such as all varieties of eggs, bread, juices +++ very delicate.
We used the tourist hop on hop off train for transportation down to city centre and back to the hotel. Taxi is also cheap about € 5-6 each way.
