We had such a wonderful stay in Reina Cristina. The staff were so warm and welcoming. We loved our room which was spotlessly clean. The hotel is in prime location by a beautiful plaza and we were opposite a bakery which did the most delicious pastries and at bargain prices.

This is a lovely hotel and the rooms have recently been modernised and are clean and bright, the famous spanish poet Federico Garcia Lorca lived on the 3rd floor, its just off plaza de Trinidad a beautiful tree lined plaza and very central. Its very close to the Cathedral but bare in mind the Cathedral closes at 1pm for siesta. We had tapas in Olivers Restaurant close by, highly recommended and a wonderful meal that evening.

This was a pleasant hotel with a oldy world feel that i enjoy. We asked for a different room as the one they gave us had a drain smell. They exchanged us without any problem. They charge 3 euros a night for a safe. If you buy a drink in the cafe attached the internet is free or you can pay a fee. We opted for the drink option and enjoyed a couple of small beers with a lovely tapa for no more than you would pay most places. The lady receptionist was a little more friendly than the young guy but we found them both fine. Moderate breakfast but it did the job. The hotel is central so within reach of restaurants and not too far to walk to the Cathedral to pick up the frequent mini buses to The Alhambra.

Room Tip: We paid extra for a "luxury" room.

A friend and I recently stayed at Reina Cristina Hotel, Granada, Spain. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone for the following reasons:

1. They nickel and dime you on fees. Despite telling Frommers and Rick Steves that wifi was included in the room rates as well as a hotel computer, neither was included. A daily/hourly fee was imposed for each.

2. The hotel provides an in-room safe, but charges a daily rate for its use. I have never encountered such a fee in all my years of travelling. They also impose a daily fee for use of the hotel safe.

3. The front desk staff was notably unfriendly and unhelpful. They seemed to be annoyed/put out each time we made any inquiry (check-in, dropping off/picking up keys, questions re: internet and safe). Worse, we asked for a good place to eat near the hotel late at night the evening we arrived. Instead of recommending one of the fabulous local places within a block of the hotel, the front desk clerk sent us walking cross town to a block of tourist trap restaurants with terrible terrible food. It was a slap in the face.

This hotel was the one dark stop on our two week trip to Spain. After every interaction I was dissatisfied and wished I had stayed somewhere else.

Do not stay at this hotel.

Right in the heart of historic Granada is this grand-looking hotel, with a great lobby, that turns out to offer excellent accommodations for cheap. I moved here after one night at Las Nieves, a much more out-of-the way place, with cramped lobby and dour staff who could have been more helpful, and would have wanted 70 euros for weekend nights. Cristina charged only 46 euros for a single room (mid-April), including weekends. But the best thing about Cristina is Maria de Luz, who staffs reception at least half the time. She speaks at least German and English in addition to Spanish and goes out of her way to find ways to make your stay more enjoyable. She got me my ticket to The Alhambra the night before I was planning to just stand in line, for just a 3-euro charge. She is one of those enthusiastic hotel people who makes it a joy just to walk through the lobby and be greeted by her. I had a room fronting the street, at my request; but if you are bothered by night noise, you should ask for something interior.

Room Tip: If you are in a room fronting the street, noises may intrude on your sleep--soccer games played lou...

Good quality in its category. Very well located for visiting the city:
French speaking very professional receptionist (we are French and do not speak spanish). Lovely old fashioned patio. Rooms are modern, clean and breakfast buffet ioffers a good choice.TV screen is very small, but provides one french speaking channel : sufficient to keep up with the news for a couple of days.
Car park a bit expensive but not far. Someone from the hotel accompanied us to the car park. it is well secured, The ramp is quite narrow and restricts its use to small to medium size vehicles.
