“Cultural Synergy”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 July 2014

Al Bayazin was my favorite part of Granada. It reflects the rich history of the town and in many places resembles an attractive synergy of European and Muslim cultures. It is sort of a Spanish Casbah with small restaurants, cafes ans shops that reflect a strong North African influence, yet it has a vibrant night life. Lovely

“Still the best atmosphere in Granada”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 July 2014

As an area, this has to be one of the best places to visit in terms of history, arts & craft, small shops, bars and restaurants and a feeling that something good is just around the corner. We stayed two days here and felt safe. Not a place to wear stupid shoes!

“Hip old neighborhood of Granada”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 July 2014

Worth a lengthy walk, this bohemian area is very cool at night...hookah bars, many cafes and bars, restaurants as well...this oldest part of town is interesting with the whitewashed buildings,VERY narrow and steep streets, excellent views!HArd to manage by car....locals and taxis only can handle the labyrinthine set up,and some turns almost too narrow for all but the smallest car!

“Moorish athmosphere”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 July 2014

Our favourite area in Granada, lovely little streets, historic athmosphere and beautiful views. There are plenty of 1000 and 1 nights kind of bazaars, bars and restaurants, and despite being kitch they were a lot of fun. Moroccan food is worth a try in this setting, but remember the Moorish style restaurants don't serve alcohol.

“The Beating Heart of Granada”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 July 2014

Albayzin is the old town of Granada on a hill directly opposite the Alhambra and part of the same World Heritage site. We booked B & B in a Carmen (house around a courtyard garden) up in the Albyzin and looking directly across to the Alhambra, magical. The small town is quintessentially Moorish Spain and a real joy. Lovely old alleyways and great restaruants, the music is wonderful as each set of buskers move around taking their turn at entertaining the diners, and they are of such high quality. Can't wait to go back.
