A typically Arabic district full of shops selling souveniers. Not many nice restaurants but interresting to be visited at night

The views are great, but it is very functional. Nothing like the palace next door. The commanding view shows how defensible the position was to invading armies.

One can just feel the history of centuries of different cultures inhabiting different parts of these beautiful, white-washed buidlings and narrow cobbled streets. A real pleasure on a Segway.

It amazes me to see some great graffiti on centuries old walls, but nothing on the neighbouring newly-painted white walls. Its like the artists all want their works to be on something permanent and unpainted.

Watching for pickpockets at the lookouts at night is worthwhile.

narrow and very tortuous streets, nice small squares with good and cosy tapas bars in the shade. Wear good walking shoes and a good map, because it's difficult to find the streets names or other direction indications.

Don't let the guidebooks and the narrow alleys scare you. The Albayzin is not to be missed in Grenada. It's like another world, and like probably 1000 worlds that still exist in the Middle East and probably existed for 1000 years. The food we had was among the best in Spain (wish I could remember the name of the restaurant). The Alhambra wasn't the only reason to go to Grenada, the Albayzin is also worth some time.
