“Free minibar”
Reviewed 12 July 2012

This hotel was lovely - location was central and within walking distance of alhambra, the old town, albayzin and Lorca's summer house. The room was spacious but the best part was the completely free mini bar which was also restocked every day. Staff were friendly but above all when they said they would do something they did. Hotel restaurant food was among some if the best we ate in Granada. If I return to Granada again i would not stay anywhere else. It would be great if the hotel also had a spa and pool but you can't have everything!

We stayed here for 3 nights during our trip to Spain for a lovely destination wedding. The hotel from the outside has that traditional Spanish look as it used to be a convent that was converted into a modern hotel. The rooms were very large and spacious. Our room had a king bed with a sofa as well as a large closet and large bathroom. The room was very modern looking with updated decor but traditional looking shutters and windows that overlooked the front street of the hotel.

There is free wifi in the public areas of the hotel. The courtyard in the hotel is beautiful. The location of the hotel is great! It's located on a main street in Granada and is within walking distance to some great restaurants, shops, and main tourist sites.

They have a gym there that you can use which is also equipped with sauna and steam room. It's listed as a five star hotel but you don't get the turn down service which you typically get from most five star hotels.

Overall, it's still a great hotel and would definitely recommend it to anyone staying in Granada!

The best thing about this hotel is its location to the city center. We even walked (hiked) to Alhambra from the hotel. I requested a room on the higher floor and I got it. Not much of a view because the windows are so small. The rooms are small too and you have to pay extra to get internet access in your room but if you are willing to sit in the lobby it is free. The breakfast was included and good. you could order things from the menu as well. I would definitely stay in this hotel again.

This hotel is very centrally located for main Granada highlights. Part of it is a converted 16th century convent and it is just beautiful. Our room was 126 - it was very spacious for 3 people with a large double and a double sofa bed. The window looked out over the cloisters. The bathroom was spacious with lots of different toiletries available as standard. The staff were brilliant, they came and took our car to a car park when we had difficulty getting to the hotel, they told us what was worth doing. They have free wi-fi in reception but you have to pay for it in the room. The cloisters had original features from the convent and was used as outside restaurant space. There was no roof on the cloisters or on another smaller courtyard. Highly recommend a stay at this hotel.

I booked 2 courtyard view rooms using the Marriott reservation system since I am a Marriott rewards member. One room was a triple, and I used reward points for that room. I called Marriott to confirm that this would be a triple. There is no way to contact the hotel directly. Check in was easy and front desk quite friendly. However when we got to our rooms, they were not on the courtyard but in an adjacent building with no view of a courtyard or anything else. I called the front desk, explained my problem and then went down after about 10 minutes. I showed them my confirmation that stated courtyard view. No where in their system was that noted. This is an internal problem between Marriott and AC hotels. They moved us to rooms which faced the courtyard which were smaller but that was fine.
Minor changes could make this hotel go from good to fabulous. Change the light system in the room. All lights must go on or off by one switch. It makes the room way to bright and is not very efficient. Same problem in the bathroom. Change the frosted glass door to the bathroom for a solid one. Not good for anyone other than couples sharing a room. Add a safe to each room. Very inconvenient to go to first floor near reception for a safety deposit box. The courtyard is the focal point of this hotel. Add tables and chairs downstairs and more seating on the upstairs. 2 sofas upstairs are not enough seating. There is a wonderful library room on the first floor overlooking the courtyard. That should have a bar at one end for drinks in the evening and coffee in the morning. Free mini bar is their only perk. Wifi is only free in the lobby not the rooms. Housekeeping was excellent. The location is good. If only they would make their courtyard an oasis retreat to relax after a busy day sightseeing, then this hotel could easily rate 5 stars.

Stayed just one night on a visit to Granada. Stayed in the newer part of the hotel overlooking the street. The room was a little knocked in places, but very well appointed. Lovely comfy bed. Free mini bar, well stocked bathroom. What more could you want? We stayed on the 4th floor and did get a little noise from the street but on the whole it was very quiet -despite being near the lifts.
Staff could not have been more helpful - they provided free maps and answered any questions that I had about visiting the Alhambra
There is no safe in room but free access to safe deposit boxes in reception. Also free wifi in reception and public areas. Free newspapers to read in public areas.
We chose to pay for breakfast in the hotel which was expensive but worth it. Very well stocked buffet and food cooked to order. We ate in the courtyard overlooking the fountain.
Location - its a short walk from underground parking (about 21 euro for a day and about 10-15 mins from the Alhambra, but there is a bus stop outside the hotel.
I will stay there again without hesitation.

Since our last stay at the Hotel 5 years ago it has been taken over by Marriott. I am pleased that none of it's charm has been lost. Once again we booked a room in the convent section for our stay and were excited to be allocated the same room. The furniture had been re-arranged and made the room even more spacious......the room had a mini-bar which has plenty of soft drinks and beer which are replaced each day......the one downside the lack of in room safe.
The food is now quite expensive and we preferred to eat out in the lovely street cafes/bistro's which may be found within a few minutes walk from the Hotel. One of thing we enyoyed during our last stay at the Hotel was our night cap before bed.......unfortunately this time the waitress could not understand how to make a French coffee!!
You should not go to Granada without visting the Alhambra which is now easily accessible by bus. We had however, pre-booked one of the many guided tours available which we found to be very informative and value for money.

Room Tip: Request a room in the oler section of the hotel away from the street
