Our main reason for visiting Granada was to see The Alhambra. We could not have chosen a better base. The hotel is beautiful, the staff were helpful and did everything they could to make our stay a pleasure. Our room was charming and overlooking the lovely inner courtyard. The food was a little disappointing, some very good but expensive and breakfast not good at all. We hope to visit again as we did not see all the sites Granada has to offer and would like to stay here.

Room Tip: A room overlooking the inner courtyard is a bonus

This beautiful and comfortable hotel is centrally located and very close to the Cathedral. Make sure you have warm clothes if visiting during autumn/ winter. Our room overlooked the beautiful internal courtyard and was comfortable. The Hotel has done a good job in preserving the historic property and in adding modern comforts. One moves from new to antique areas without really noticing the change.

Reception staff were excellent and very helpful. We drove to Granada and struggled to find the hotel despite its central location and us having a sat nav. Exterior signage was not a strong point but once we had parked outside, reception staff came to the car to assist and then parked the car for us for the duration of our stay.

To appreciate Granada a car is not required but a good pair of walking shoes will stand you in good stead. The hotel organised a tour guide for our visit to the Alhambra and that was a good investment as the guide was very knowledgeable. We also skipped all the queues at Alhambra! It is essential to book tickets on line before your visit. The reception staff are then able to direct you to a local ATM to print out the tickets.

The hotel restaurant is exceptional. The food is to die for and superbly presented. Again, service was excellent. We will return.

Nice Hotel located in the very center of Granada. The building was a Convento, and I was very impressed! It is close to Cathedral, Royal Chapel, Nueva Square... Comfortable rooms and, above all, Granada is the best place in the word!

The courtyard in this hotel is just beautiful at night and very picturesque. We found the rooms to be charming with that old dark wood. While we were there, we blew a fuse twice and the couple in the other room next to us, did the same. But it was not an issue, they came up right away and reset the breaker. The location of the hotel is great, you can walk to the center of town. Was disappointed with the food at the hotel for dinner. Although it was supposed to be a great restaurant, some of the food was served raw just not edible. Not happy at all for the price we paid. As far as cleanliness, service, etc. it is a good hotel and location makes up for the other disappointments. I would stay here again, if that helps.

the hotel is located in the heart of the city and one can almost have acces to most of the worth visiting places. Room was OK and we had street view room but no noise from outside. The staff were very helpful

Room Tip: We had a street view room and it was perfect.

This hotel is very well situated, staff provides very good service, the place is really nice. We originally reserved a superior guest room for one night, but since we needed more time to be able to visit the Alhambra, we extended our stay to two nights. We switched to a regular guest room for the second night. We didn't mind the darkness at night in the superior room, but we would have probably made it to the Alhambra in time, as we had originally planned, if we hadn't slept in (obviously because of the darkness in the room). So if you don't like dark rooms, request to be placed at a regular guest room, or open the blackout shades during the day. The superior rooms are really nice though.

Room Tip: If you want to relax, and have a lot of time to visit granada, choose to stay at the superior guest...

This centrally placed hotel can be reached by bus from the airport to the Cathedral (3 mins from the hotel) for €3 p p. From the rail station it is better to take a taxi...about €6. We asked for a quiet room, and the end of the 5th floor in the new part suited our needs exactly. The room was just adequate, with a good bathroom. A/C appeared to be centrally controlled - the only way to change anything was to turn the fan off - but we found the cooler temperature ideal for sleeping. The bed was comfortable with good pillows. There were plenty of towels of a curious ribbed variety, and the usual toiletries. The front desk assistants were consistently helpful.
Minus points. There was no plug in the handbasin. Fortunately we travel the world and are never without a universal plug. There is no tea or coffee in the room, and none available in the lobby. There was only one chair in the room. A couple would have to decide who sits on the bed to watch TV. The room directory needs updating. Just three things will suffice as examples. Smoking is not allowed anywhere in the hotel by law. There is no safe in the room. No one we saw handed in their room key every time they went out of the hotel. All these points should be corrected in the information pack.
Great play is made of the excellent chef employed by the hotel. However the restaurant did not seem busy, especially at lunch, probably because the meals are outlandishly expensive. We ate at the Cueva (right of of the hotel to the Plaza, turn left, over the road and a few yards along) for a fraction of the cost and there was too much on the starters for one person (suggest salads etc are shared).
Breakfast was adequate but not exceptional. We have had better in 5* hotels. You can order a hot meal but, was my poached egg done in vinegar water?...such was the taste. The arrangement of food was strange, things were not put together in a logical way. The antiquated toaster was pensioned off while we were there and a new one installed. But the hot drinks arrangement needs attention. Maybe some of this is a result of the dining room being understaffed. Instead of waiters taking your tea and coffee order (as in other 5* hotels) you have to use a machine for the coffee and then hot milk from a flask, or if you want tea you use hot water from a flask which we found to be not sufficiently hot. Staff were not out-of the-way helpful, and never smiled.
Finally, this Marriott 5* hotel does have business rooms and if you look on their website it appears to have computers and pinters available. However, be aware that the hotel does not have ANY computer or printer available for guest use for those who do not have, or cannot use, their own, for whatever reason. This is a serious omission in a hotel of this "prestige". The lobby is not terribly inviting, but there is room for a couple of computers and a printer. This is a modern age, and a good hotel will provide for the technological needs of all guests. (The wifi arrangement is greedy and unnecessary). We had two urgent messages we wished to consult by computer. It is not easy to stand at the front desk, giving personal logging on details to staff and having to read the screen twisting one's neck. The hotel should do something about this problem immediately.
We have stayed at Marriott hotels before, but will consider carefully when looking at other bookings in future. There are too many negative issues to warrent a 5* so we have rated 4* but 3.5 might have been nearer the mark for the price one is paying.
